Nba 2011-2012

Oh the black jerseys are awesome. That was mistake #1: ditching the 90s era black jerseys.

The defense is down to hustle mostly. The technique isn't all there yet, but every so often you see flashes.

Strange rumour that Rondo for Gasol could be a possibility. I don't think it would happen but from a Laker perspective it would be a good move as it would give us the PG we're desperately crying out for, although we would lose our size advantage.

Why (the hell) would Boston want to make such a trade?!

It would be a stupid move from Boston's point which is why I don't think it will happen but the Celtics did try to trade Rondo before the season started so perhaps there are some issues with him?

Meanwhile, I think the top 5 plays tonight will be all Heat..

EDIT: They are only ahead by four though.

Yeah but they were going to get Chris Paul in return, right?

Can't remember who it was for: Rondo-Paul makes sense, Rondo-Gasol is silly.

Reason I queried that it could happen is because there have been reports about him getting angry in team meetings, not seeing eye to eye with teammates and apparently getting upset when Obama made fun of his jump shot (). He still doesn't have a jumper and if he has attitude issues perhaps it would be better to trade him, but they should get someone younger than Gasol.

Linsanity will take on Kobe & LA. First time I'm seeing this guy play, he has a lot of hype around him - reminds me of Tebowmania. Brady killed Tebowmania, I hope Kobe does the same to Linsanity.

Brady beat Tebow. He didn't kill Tebowmania. It's just going to start up again next year. Likewise Linsanity will continue to be a thing. Asian people love seeing other Asian people succeed.

:(:(

Linsanity actually has the numbers so far, Tebow had defense, the option route and a great kicker to thank for his hype. Linsanity>>>Tebowmania.

Edit: Linsanity sounds cool, Tebowmania is a cheap knock off from Hulkamania.

Poor performace from LA so far, the Celtics game looks to have taken a lot out of the players.

I've only seen one half but Lin looks a very good talent. He has some nice moves, a solid jumper and good penetration to get into the paint which allows him to draw fouls. Impressive so far, question is why did it take the Knicks this long to discover him?

Edit: seems a humble kid, good interview at HT.

I am jumping on the bandwagon and declaring that Linsanity is for real! The kid can play and has a very nice jump shot.

Lakers were poor, Kobe was terrible for 2.5 quarters and then turned it on. 5 road games in 7 days took its toll on the team and we looked too tired.

Linvincible...

Linsanity is a ripoff of Vinsanity though. Not after jveezy. Unfortunately after the asshole from UNC, Vince Carter.

Just 38 points this time, and another lin for NY.

Carmelo and Stoudamire had their best game of the season tonight.. D'Antoni finally found the system that fits them..

Lin just seemed to step up another gear in the second half. Crazy crazy stuff from him, he's the real thing and might just turn out to be the best point guard for his draft year if thing continue this way.

:nono: He wasn't drafted. So Kyrie will always be the best from the draft class...

Too bad he's out with a concussion.

Not only is Lin an amazing player, he makes everyone around him so much better. That's why I love points guards, no other position can influence everyone else so much.

I mean, first of all they're beating the Lakers, a team on paper twice or three times as good as them. Lin having a great game is one thing, but with the players he has to play with, beating a team with 3 All-Star level players when he doesn't even have one, wow.

You don't have to know he played for Harvard to see he's a very intelligent player, in an age where overwhelmingly coaches choose athleticism over skill and smarts, it's great to see someone dissect the so game well. And with a group of scrappers and cast offs.

I'm a lifetime Lakers fan, but I was rooting for the Knicks in this one, there's nothing better than the last man off the bench coming out and playing like a legend.

All he does is Lin.

What a dodgy fandom.

Haven't watched anything beyond the odd game here and there for almost ten years, pretty much ever since the NBA started its "more dunks please" policy.

The Ricky Rubio and this Lin fellow's stories are nice. Some of the racial response is a bit annoying though, particularly some of the Asian "OMG LOOK AT US NOW YEAH WUT" chicanery.

Black president. Asian starting PG for the NY Knicks. The US was built for this to happen. He's American. End of.

That being said, I read up on him and it seems there actually has been some quite serious between-the-lines racial profiling holding his career back, so respect to him.

Well, every game doesn't count the same way in basketball as football. If it mattered, it if was the playoffs, I'd want the Lakers to beat them, I have no interests in the Knicks getting a title off the Lakers.

And while I was always a fan, they weren't always my favorite team, I picked them because i loved Worthy and Magic. But I became a huge Jordan fan, and of course I could watch them play on WGN, unlike the Lakers, who were probably on tv 10 or so times a year back then. At that point I was rooting for the Bulls against the Lakers. Then I saw Reggie Miller against the Knicks and became a Pacers fan. Once I went to college I didn't watch for a while.

I've never been a huge basketball fan, I did watch a lot of Lakers games when I lived in LA for 3 years but those were 2 of the 3 years of the threepeat and it was great to watch. But I loved Kobe's game back then, much like Jordan's of course.

I've lived all over the States, I've never had much of a regional loyalty for any team, I'd pick the player I liked best and watch them.

Oh yeah, what did you read about the profiling, I didn't see anything like that.

Lin was off his game, 8 for 24, 6 turnovers, missing at the rim, the pick and roll stuttering, I never thought they'd come back and win this one. The Wolves certainly helped the cause by going freezing cold in the 4th, but the Knicks had 8 turnovers in the 4th, it was a desperate last minute climb back, just making it over the hump with a Lin free throw with the game tied with 5 seconds left.

Huge win, stole it at the end.

Clips are looking like an elite team! The Spurs have also impressed by climbing the rankings while still missing Ginobili, who is finally about to return, and maintaining the best home record in basketball at 13-1. Also nice to see Dallas moving up.

1. Oklahoma City 21-6 [.778]
2. Chicago 23-7 [.767]
3. Miami 21-7 [.750]
4. Clippers 17-8 [.680]
5. San Antonio 19-9 [.679]
6. Philadelphia 19-9 [.679]
7. Atlanta 18-10 [.643]
8. Indiana 17-10 [.630]
9. Dallas 17-11 [.607]
10. Orlando 17-11 [.607]

Game winner from Lin. This guy is seriously going crazy. Davis can kiss his dreams of starting good bye. It was horrible horrible defense from Calderon though. He gave him so much space.

I mean he can look across the court and see he had less than five seconds left and he was still walking towards the three point line. It would have difficult for him to go around Jose and then take it to the rim. So giving Lin so much space and inviting him to shoot was a bad idea.

Why are people making a race issue about Lin? I read a couple of articles and 1 guy on ESPN America was saying nobody would care about Lin if he wasn't Asian. He's a very good player and his race should not be a factor in determining his impact on this Knicks team.

The person who said that is probably Floyd Mayweather. And he's a dick.

It's a combination of his backstory(Harvard, undrafted, Azn) and his awesome performances. He's a guy who didn't get major college offers but was smart so he played for Harvard. He excelled there but wasn't drafted. He gets a shot because of desperation from the Knicks and performed like a boss.

It does help that he's Asian because Yao is gone.

As a Knicks fan I... yeah that's spot on

This run will end once we meet some decent teams from the West, the Bulls or the Heat, if D'Antoni hasn't fecked up the formula by then.

I don't really mean 'hate' of course.

But I still haven't forgiven Ewing for starting the 'hop-step' trend where somehow the refs decided to start giving players an extra step, which was the beginning of refs not calling traveling for 3 steps anymore.

They also started the 'flop' trend, throwing themselves backwards and pushing off against the court with their hands when they hit the floor to slide further and make it look like they were hit harder. Anthony Mason acting like some little guard knocked him back 20 feet with his hip...

Woah...Woah...Woah.

Are you really blaming the Knicks for the flop? :nono:

That was without a doubt started by Vlade Divac. He would have gone down if little Muggsy Bogues touched him.
