No doubt. Comfortably the Celtics best player in the post-season.

I thought Fisher v Rondo and Garnett v Gasol would be where the series would be won, but Gasol seems to have got the better of Garnett whilst Fish is on Allen (which is strange itself, as Ray kept getting open looks today off the screens). I'd like to see Artest on Allen and Kobe on Pierce, with Fish guarding Rondo. We played too loose on Rondo, and he kept ghosting in to get the offensive rebounds, although some of his play today was pretty special.

Been disappointed with Garnett post season, I don't think it would be out of place to say Gasol has been the Lakers best overall performer this season

KG is done. He had a mini revival in the Cleveland series, but his knees have taken away his hops, and he barely has any lateral movement. Like Pau said, KG has lost his explosive 1st step, and his hops, you take those two things away from any player, and they are going to struggle. I can imagine his minutes diminishing as the series goes on.

Game 3 moments away. Big, big game in the series, whoever wins will have not only take the lead, but will have the momentum. Hoping the Lakers are more aggressive than the last game and the refs are less picky about the slightest touch (for feck's sake let them play ball!!)

Lakers have to stop Rondo and Ray Allen getting into any rhythm and keep Pierce quite as we have done. Kobe has to stay out of any foul problems, as does Odom whose managed to do absolutely nothing noteworthy so far. Gasol also needs to keep up his performances.

Lets go Lakers!!!

Got to say, the atmosphere is fantastic, if only Staples or even OT sounded like that...

Stupid Artest already has 2 fouls, fool.

No matter the outcome of this series LAL must draft/sign a good PG. If they had a top class PG they'd walk the title. I still question both Kidd and Nash's choice to remain with their respective teams instead of teaming with Kobe or LeBron. Although money had quite a bit to do with the choice.

It's ridiculous how Rondo seems to be in the right position every time.

Agreed. That little bastard manages to sneak in to collect the rebounds, and nobody even notices until it's too late. Quality PG though.

As for Lakers, Fisher can still do a job, but we lack that superstar PG who can make the passes needed to open teams up and spread the play. Maybe we still think Jordan Farmar can do it?

Fisher is well past his best days. He's a role player at best now. Farmer is a decent player and young so I think the Lakers may have to part ways with Fisher this summer and go with youth. TJ Ford is available - decent PG with some years still left.

Or maybe they could rescue Paul from New Orleans (who could also be on a downward slope) by offering Bynum and Farmar. Then sign Yao to fill the center vacancy, if he's even fit. There's also the likes of Jermaine O'Neal, Shaq, Miller.

But I think hanging on to Bynum is what the club will do and probably the right choice. Unless they can get Bosh in a sign-and-trade.

There was talk of a Bynum for Bosh earlier this season. Bosh has good numbers for the Raptors, but I've never seen him play so can't really pass judgement. Bynum has really impressed me this series. He's been aggressive on both ends and dominated the paint, despite being injured. I personally think he suits the Lakers team perfectly and hope we stick by him. However, he does seem to be plagued by injuries.

Great first half for the Lakers. We played with intensity and showed the desire to win. Defensively we've been solid, but Rondo still looks very threatening and you never know with Pierce/Allen, if both get going it could be raining 3's. Lakers bench has been effective, especially Odom. Hopefully, we stay ahead and can close the game in the second half.

I'm hoping for James to sign for the Bulls in a few weeks, I'll be getting season tix if that happens

Not happening IMO. He'd have to win at least six championships to surpass Jordan. Way too much pressure and unrealistic expectations. He's either staying in Cleveland or heading to NY or NJ(Brooklyn).

More shoddy officiating granted these where loose ball calls that happen very quick. Replay reversing three calls in the final two minutes, albeit the last call on the Odom/Rondo incident was clearly a foul by Rondo yet that can't be reviewed and therefore since Odom was the last player to touch it's a turnover by him. Ridiculous rule. Rondo clearly caused the ball to go out. Fortunately, the Lakers defended well and Boston didn't score to cause another potential game-ending swing on a shit call (cough*Garnett/Gasol Game 2*cough).

Lakers reclaim home court. I think they'll win two in Boston.

Cometh the hour cometh the man, no not Kobe but Derek Fisher. Big big win for Lakers. Offensively we weren't great in the second half, but defensively we were good. Celtics closed the lead from 17 to 2, but never took the lead. Great work by Fish to hit the shots when we needed them, proves we can win without Kobe having to bail us out all the time. Gasol, Odom and Bynum were all very good.

Celtics have the pressure now to win the next two, but we shouldn't take it easy. One more win in Boston and I can see the title staying in LA.

I seriously doubt he will after they signed that no name coach

Thibodeau is represented by CAA Sports which also represents LeBron so there was some speculation that there was a link. LeBron denies it and says he doesn't want anything to do with coaching decisions unless it involves a coach he doesn't like.

Yeah maybe they put in Thibodeau as 'head coach' so they could sign LeBron as a player and their de facto head coach

Did you just call him a no name coach? Yes, he has no prior Head Coaching experience, but he is one of the elite defensive coaches the NBA has seen in the last 15 years.

His teams right from the Knicks on down, have been defensively monsters. He will be a successful head coach.

I'd rather him, than Coach Izzo, College ball and the NBA are oceans apart, and I think Rick Pitino is a prime example of that.

I'd rather have Coach Jackson

You want Jackson if you have a team that is loaded. I love Jackson, I've been a Jackson + MJ + Bulls fan from way back in the day...

I mean way back in the day, when Gatorade used to run the 'I wanna be like Mike' ads

But has he ever actually built a team? Has he ever coached a team to a championship without Tex Winter and his Triangle offense? I'm not hating on the guy for having a good team around him, and he does matter, look at the Lakers when he left

But that man definitely did a deal with the devil.

Jordan - Pippen
Shaq - Kobe
Kobe - Gasol

I mean Jesus....

The Pitino thing swung on one bounce of a lottery draft ball. Had the Celtics got the top pick and drafted Duncan, things would have turned out much different for Pitino in Boston. Izzo can win with someone like LeBron. FFS, Mike Brown did.

ray allen 0/13 fg.. hahahahaHAHAHAHahahahAHHahahAHaHa .... in 42 minutes!!!! nice pair of free throws though

He would have been 0-14 if they didn't call an offensive foul on Garnett near the end, which would have been yet another record breaking game for Ray.

So far in the series, 'the big three' have not clicked. Game 1 Pierce had the most points (largely due to FTs), Game 2 it was Allen and 3 it was KG carrying the team. Don't see that changing. Artest has been brilliant on Pierce, whilst although KG exploded, I still think Gasol has the beating of him, or they can put Bynum on KG. The only player I can see the Lakers having trouble with is Allen, but if he keeps missing open looks, that problem will take care of itself.

I'd say I know only little at most about the goings on of the NBA, I certainly do not claim to be in the know or have insight but I've been listening to the stories and I can tell you the buzz around the city right now about him coming is very strong, those in the know seem to think its very possible.

This story caught my eye last week when it appeared on yahoo sportsOpposing Views: World Wide Wes + Tom Thibodeau = LeBron James a Chicago Bull? its quite an interesting conspiracy theory on the whole Thibodeau anomaly

Also, and I'm sure this is probably an urban myth but the word on the street is that one of his best friends (not a player) has bought a condo on lakeshore drive

yeah , very stupid rule , but the ball does not lie

on a second thought ,look who has he guarded along this playoff , how he did it , then talk , not based on one game you just saw

He and Kobe are the leaders of the Lakers as well, when shit hits the wall they turn to them, becasue Lamar is blowing kisses to Khloe and Gasol turtles up

a bit harsh on odom, and pau has been doing well this series

well have to agree whit Alex on Odom , brings one good game then falls asleep for 3-4
pau is putting up the numbers regularly , but he needs a bit more confidence in the tight situations ,remember though he was demoralized by kg who rised from his grave and overplayed himself

He's obviously past his best days. Garnet had a great game is he suddenly reincarnated? Fisher is a leader type player. He's not going to get a team 16 pts and 8 assists every night these days. He's simply a role player able to give a great effort on any night. But at age 35 a club has to eventually make the decision to move on regardless of past performances.

I'm guessing you're thinking I'm rooting against the Lakers.

he plays as good as it gets . he was newer the big points man and as the lakers playing the triangle the assists divide in the team
defensively he played top notch and even better then in previous years , if you saw the nash, wetsbrook, williams matchups

The bench won it for Boston tonight. I see Kobe going off in Game 5 and LAL taking a 3-2 lead back home. If they do go home up 3-2 it's curtains for Boston. So basically Game 5 is do-or-die for Boston.

On a side note, Boston have some of the most punchable, melodramatic drama queens in sport. They're antics remind of me of a certain group of Chelsea players.

Lakers in big trouble. No Bynum, he plays important minutes for them. Without him out there, Gasol played something like 44 out of 48 minutes so that the Lakers could stay big, and it cost the Lakers. He had no gas left in the tank at the end.

Yeah if Boston loses Game 5, it's over that said it is a must win for both teams

And this is why I'm curious to see if there is any substance in the Bosh-for-Bynum sign-and-trade. Bynum is going to have a career with many minor and significant injuries mixed in with a few major problems. Do you really build a foundation around him knowing at any moment his career could end, or do you find a comparable player that is actually better and potentially has more upside and minus the injuries?
