Odom was very frustrating last nite......as he has been for this entire series

But that's Lamar Odom to a T. He should have been the next Pippen...number 3, who can actually play like a point guard and handle all the ball, creating match up nightmares for the league. All the while getting All-Star pops, season after season...instead he is this passive turd. Who only shows up every once in a while to remind you, what he could be/have been.

Pippen had all the intangibles too. He was also a much better shooter than Odom, I used love how he'd use the glass on 30-45 degree angled jump shots, that was fecking classic. It's so fecking hilarious that no one uses it anymore by design, it's probably only used on 50% of lay ups now. I would have gotten an earful had I ever taken a layup without using the glass.

Close first half so far, Pierce looks in good touch. Thankfully Bynum seems to be holding out at the moment, will need him to last the game we Lakers are to win.

Artest might be a good defender, but going forward he offers absolutely nothing, it's like he goes into a coma each time he crosses the half-court. Ariza contributed to the Laker offense as a perimeter shooter, Artest does not. He had a good 1st game against the Celtics, but since then has done nothing offensively. Needs to pick up his game.

3rd Quarter is basically Kobe vs. Boston. Some of the shots he has made are fecking incredible, D-Wade agrees with me! We just can't stop the Celtics scoring, and at some point the other Lakers will need to step up. Boston in control atm.

Kobe looks so frustrated knowing the likes of Artest can't make a shot, Gasol is playing soft again, Odom is a waste of great talent, Fisher is playing subpar.

Boston playing a great game and barely holding on though. Lakers have been shit majority of the game.

Regardless of the outcome, if I'm the Lakers GM I'm looking into every possibility to get Bosh.

Kobe keeps jacking up shots and doesnt bring his team into the game much.

If he attempts the first 12 shots of the quarter and then blames team mates for missing the next two, he is responsible for not helping the team get going. He was being double and triple teamed with a couple of others in space. He opts to shoot. He did score but it doesn't help get the team going.
One of the greatest individual players but not that great a team player.

Agreed he's not the best team player, but when Fisher/Artest/Gasol are all missing open shots, would you pass??

The only positive I can take from this game, as a Laker fan, is that other than Kobe, nobody did anything offensively, but Celtics are hanging on for the win on their own court. If Gasol turns up in the next 2 games, I can see LA winning.

 Btw, how did Fish win the tip-off against KG?

At some point he has to pass. He cant win the finals by himself. He ain't no Dwayne Wade ;)

It would be better if he passed when he is double teamed and made it easier for the likes of Gasol, Fischer or Artest to score when they are open. It will get their confidence going.

Alternatively he can do what he did - keep shooting until he misses a few in a row, then pass and blame the team short of confidence and also out of rhythm because they haven't had a chance to shoot for the past 10 minutes.

fecking Boston win, Lakers have to hold court to retain the NBA title. Like I said, today it was Kobe vs. Celtics, he got no offensive help from anyone, the Celtics had a crazy FG%, almost double I think, but still they had to hold onto a win.

Gasol needs to turn up ASAP, Odom needs to realise that a game is played for more than 7 minutes (he usually plays well for 5 mins, then buries his head up his ass for the rest of the game) and Artest needs to make the open shots.

The Wade that had Shaq dominating the low post, clearing lanes for Wade and snatching rebounds? The Wade that also had that sixth man helping him out (aka the officials)?

Kobe was making shots left and right. It was ok when Jordan took over and did this in games and forgot about his teammates. When they were making shots Jordan would pass, same with Kobe. When Gasol is actually playing in the post instead of walking around like a zombie, Kobe works great with him. Tonight Gasol payed like a background actor in the latest zombie flick. And Bynum was virtually invisible. Artest can't make a shot outside ten feet. The guards were crap. It was up to Kobe. And he took over in the third but his team, and yes, he himself, made some bad turnovers. But you also have to blame the role players for playing shit defense.

Boston dominate and win by only six? That's ridiculous. All it takes is Bynum and/or Gasol to step up and the Lakers should cruise Game 6.

But you're a Kobe hater so your opinion doesn't surprise me.

I can see what your saying with Bryant, but only with regards to Gasol. Fisher had a great game 3, but he's hot and cold on shooting. Artest, from what I've seen this post-season is as deadly at shooting in basketball as berbatov is shooting in football (that's not a compliment). Gasol is the only player I trust to make a jumpshot more often than not, but today he was very poor. Bryant's probably thinking 'if these guys can't make uncontested shots, why don't I just shoot?'

Gasol is the key to the series now. He had a great start, offensively and defensively, but KG has been strong on both ends the past 3 games. Since game 4, Gasol has been disappointing. If he doesn't turn up in game 6, you'll see another situation where it's basically Kobe v Boston, and the team always beats the individual (unless Kobe decides to score 81 points again!) I'm looking at Gasol stepping up when his team needs him most, if he doesn't then I can see Boston winning.

i wanna feckin puke.. clusterfeck... feck boston, they better not win another title. I can't have my beloved united AND lakers both lose this year after coming so feckin close...

Even if you ignore the higher points per game from Gasol, he is still averaging more rebounds than Shaq did for the Heat in the finals. Even the zombie Gasol on the match today had more rebounds than Shaq's average in the finals.

The officials are helping Kobe and the Lakers as much as they did Wade.
Sour grapes if you have to resort to blaming officials.

What a joke about the Lakers turtling like bitches, you knew they might be in some trouble when they lost game 2

This series has been horribly officiated on both sides but nowhere near the ridiculous level of the 2006 Finals. The Lakers haven't benefitted no more than Boston have. Tons of marginal calls, ticky tack fouls, bad replay calls, etc. But when Kobe starts getting a call virtually every drive in the lane that Wade received, then you may have a point.

Game 6 predictions anyone?

I'm sensing a home win. The NBA needs a Game 7 between their two marquee clubs.

Home win (hopefully). Gasol is key to this game in my opinion, if he turns up then it'll be a home win, otherwise Boston might be celebrating in Hollywood tonight :nervous:

Commentators discussing the media backlash on Bryant for him not being a 'teamplayer'. They correctly state that if it was Jordan or LeBron doing what Kobe did in Game 5, the media would be jerking off the performance, but because it was Bryant there is animosity.

Anyway, Kobe's started the game well, but more importantly LA have started well, Artest's hit some good shots; Gasol/Bynum look up for the fight. Still, we have to keep up the intensity for 35 more minutes.

Cuban got exactly what he deserved, talk about the boy who cried wolf getting fecked over.

It's all LAL right now. 40-23 half way through the second quarter. 22-7 rebounding edge. Lakers reserves playing good so far. Boston might be mailing it in and saving up for a Game 7 at this rate. Still a long way to go though.

Perkins left with a knee injury. Wallace will get a technical at this rate which would see him suspended for Game 7 (if there is one). That would severely limit Boston's depth and force the starting five to win out themselves potentially.

He'd be good for baseball, but I kind of had to snicker when Dallas got all those bad calls, because usually he will just complain even if Dallas are getting the calls

Great half for LA, good intensity on both ends of the court and the bench doing a great job supporting the starters. Have to continue this for the rest of the game, afterall Celtics cut a big lead in game 1, and were 24 down at HT 2 years ago and managed to win. Overall, been impressed with LA.

I like Mark Cuban, a real fan and says what he thinks - none of that diplomatic shit that we hear from owners/managers.

Huge win for the Lakers, all over the Celtics tonight. High intensity on both offense and defense, and the support-cast turned up tonight to help Kobe with big points from the bench, Artest scoring, but it was Gasol's performance that was key, and he was immense tonight.

Comes down to game 7, one game to decide the entire NBA season. Celtics will be holding their breath to see if Perkins is fit, whilst Laker fans will be hoping the team plays with the same intensity and aggression it did today. Should be a great final game, and then we can all concentrate on the most imporant thing in NBA - where's LeBron going to play next season?
