Nations League 24/25 | November Internationals (Matchday 5-6)

Has a solid shot at being top scorer in Nations League for the 3rd time in a row (shared it with Ferran Torres and Lukaku in 20-21)

Ronaldo would need 3 goals tomorrow to get past him.
Ronaldo will have the NL finals next year though. Haaland will also have the League A play offs.

Maybe the two things are connected, we have limited resources. That and football is not as well run at junior level as GAA or Rugby, the two main direct competitors.
There's definitely a long hangover at play from an institutional failing under Delaney's FAI tenure.

You're probably also right on the other success. Sometimes you just have to cut your cloth and we're overachieving relative to our size in many other fields. But it's still weird how we seemingly haven't had any quality homegrown players coming through in years.

Probably the route to England is harder than in the 90's, competing with International talent at such a young age vs mostly British 30/40 years ago. Maybe those doors are not open anymore and we don't have a competitive enough home league to develop quality players.

First time in about 35 years that someone scored for England and I had no clue who they were (I know the name, just didnt recognise him).
it’s what games against the minnow nations are for.

Ireland fell apart after the Red Card. Thought they did ok First Half.. Carsley has done a decent job. Tried different players changed systems. Definitely a better style of play compared to Southgate. Just not sure he wants all the bullshit that goes with the job.
