Nations League 24/25 | November Internationals (Matchday 5-6)

Serbia had 19 shots to Denmark's 7 and I think a lot more xG so a home win would have been deserved.

But they only have themselves to blame for poor tactics in the second half and failing to score against resilient Danes

I didn’t watch the second half, so I’ll take your word for it. First half was fairly even, from what I saw, despite Serbia putting up more shots then too. They’re missing a creative spark, for sure.

The November international break was actually once every two years up to the 2013 season IIRC. In seasons 2006,2008, 2010 and 2012 they had two week breaks in September and October and the November break was one midweek friendly between the weekend fixtures so that has been added in last decade as additional window.

I'm fairly sure March never used to be an international break either in some of those seasons, again just a midweek friendly so there have been more games added in the last decade, that is undeniable.
FIFA decides the international windows. There are 5 windows with a maximum of 2 games each window.

The maximum number of matches allowed went up to 8 from 7. August, September, October and November all had a break and March had back in 2010 as well. Been a while since that was added. The other dates just had friendly matches and not official ones.

I'm glad that we restored some pride in the last two games and did enough to out ourselves in a position to stay up but it's a tad frustrating too as it showed that this group is capable on an attacking front if it's deployed as such. Aye, we were exposed at times against both Poland and Croatia but there is more from this group and they definitely have enough to qualify for the WC.

Wales about to win Group B and promoted. Bellamy's doing pretty well there so interested how they get on in the actual qualifiers.

What is going on there? Bellamy has shown a lot more already than I ever thought he would, and he's been a bit of a breath of fresh air after Page, but we've got absolutely no business being anywhere near League A.

You were in A just a year ago? Wales are pretty good now getting results off tier 1-2 teams in Cardiff and the odd decent result away. Even under Page given he got 4 points off Czechs in the successful World cup qualifiers then beat Austria and Ukraine back-to-back. Then four points off Croatia in the last qualifiers.

What a ridiculous call for the penalty there, how much closer could Koch put his arm next to his body? It's honestly at if referees now expect defenders to keep their arms behind their back at all times in the box, otherwise if the ball hits the hand it's a penalty.

The draw was deserved to Hungary though, not that it mattered to us given we'd already won the group.

I think in tonight's squad we have maybe two or three players starting games in top flight football somewhere? The average level of the first XI is probably midtable Championship, with League One players coming off the bench. In goal we've resorted to finding Welsh grandparents for Karl Darlow and the bloke who is something like 4th choice for Wolves.

With that general level and no Bale heroics to rely on anymore, I'm surprised and happy we've manage to scrape our way into the top level again, but I can't say I'm much looking forward to the imminent pastings from Spain/Germany/France/Portugal/England.

Turkey must have had an absolute mare in Montenegro.

The good thing with Wales is guys like Neco, Rodon,Wilson and Dan James all been regulars at international level since 2018 so while some of their club careers haven't kick on they're very experienced at this level now. Conor Roberts another and Ampadu of course out injured until 2025 so there's a decent spine there even if not a match winner.

Upfront I think it's all about getting Brennan Johnson to influence things now like he can on occasions in the Premier league and seems like Liam Cullen and Harris have been decent finds just to rotate with Kieffer Moore depending on opposition.

just give up watching wales mate if you can’t enjoy us competing against the best. Much rather that than when I went to see wales vs Estonia in llaneli with only 4,000 other people.

I always thought Bellamy would be a good coach. He spent a couple of years with Kompany in Belgium and Burnley learning his craft.
He likes to play with intensity and now has a Wales squad punching well above their individual levels through teamwork and belief rather than relying on the brilliance of individuals as we have in the past.
It's still early days but the signs are good.

Sweden seem to have a pretty decent national team all of a sudden with their front 3
