Nathaniel Clyne | Signed for Liverpool

So rumours on twitter are suggesting the deal is off because he's changed agents? Surely that would make a deal for him more likely.

Not if his former agent was the one pushing the United move?

If not Clyne than who... Are there any legit interests in RB department other than him ?

Coleman is the other standout candidate for me - hasn't had the best season but Everton have been pretty dire. Proven as one of the top FBs in the PL for the last few years.

Not overly fussy if the deal is called off. Clyne for me is better than what we have, but I'd be amazed if we can't get someone who's better if we scout properly.

Express wrote few months ago that Coleman used to wear United shirt in his early years. Probably won't say 'no' if true.

Heh, interesting. I think if we go for him we would easily get him, its more a matter of if LVG rates him (probably hasnt seen that much of him, and Everton havent been that good this season) I think.

I would be disappointed if this deal doesn't happen. Easily the best target for that position.

Could be a case in the previous summer but this time I think he had enough time to scout the whole Britain plus he speaks with his players a lot. I think Fellaini would definitely give some testimony about his work rate in Everton.

United used to sign at least one British player every summer window under SAF so I wouldn't push away that option... that means Clyne deal may be also still on the table.

I would be really disappointed if he didn't had ambition to make a further step in the career. He's in perfect age to do that and his season was promising enough.

If he really wants to stay perhaps it's best for all of us that the player without much needed confidence who's somewhat scared to play for Manchester United will stay away from bigger goals in football.

Maybe United or Chelsea are not interested in him at this moment in time and he wants to secure his future at Southampton? I think United will go for Dani Alves as a free transfer if he's available.

I hope so, Alves has been bloody brilliant the past couple months in the stretch run for Barcelona.

It's not unusual for agents to plant stories of big clubs being interested to get a better deal for his client.

I'm hoping same. Although he'd be a short term solution he'd bring much needed experience to the back line. Still has a few years at the very top.

Liverpool have had a £10m bid for England right-back Nathaniel Clyne rejected by Southampton.

Clyne, 24, has become a target for the Reds with full-back Glen Johnson, 30, at the end of his Anfield contract.

They are expected to return with an improved offer for the former Crystal Palace player, who has one year left on his contract at St Mary's.

Liverpool are also pursuing Burnley striker Danny Ings and Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

The Anfield club are attempting to rebuild following a disappointing season under manager Brendan Rodgers, in which they finished sixth in the Premier league - two points above Southampton in seventh place - and failed to win a trophy.

Clyne joined the Saints from Palace in July 2012 and is under contract until the summer of 2016.

Liverpool took Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert from Southampton last summer for a combined total of almost £50m.

While I generally don't agree with the over inflated fees for English talent, 10 million does seem very low for Clyne.. If there is any truth to the rumors that either we or tottenham are interested,I think he ll go for atleast 20 million..

He only has a year left on his contract tbf

Good signing for Liverpool if it goes through. They've been burned by Southampton but this shouldn't stop them from upgrading in a position of weakness. Seems we're looking at different alternatives.

Good player who would definitely improve Liverpool. Not too fussed on missing out on him as long as we get someone in at right back too.

I get the feeling we're not looking to change in that position. Is Valencia so much worse than the names we're linked to at RB & he's quite a flexible player position wise, again, compared with Clyne & Coleman?

I'm starting to get that feeling too. Personally, I'd much rather have Cylne or Coleman at RB. Valencia can be a useful squad player, but I think we're in need of an upgrade.

Yes. We can't go into another season with him at right back. Thankfully we won't either.

He is awful attacking wise so it is a huge problem for us. We need an upgrade.

Clyne is suspect defensively, Coleman I'm not convinced by either. Sure Valencia has his moments of mental shut down, he's a winger after all but take Zabaleta, he too has switched off many times this season.

Also, if were bringing in a new CB, maybe LVG sees replacing Valencia too, as an unnecessary & expensive risk?

Based on what?

I wonder who we moved on to, we were so heavily linked with Clyne and it seems to have died down lately.

Oh God. If that's the going rate for a decent Prem player with English premium, we're gonna get screwed for De Gea big time :(
Yes, we probably will although De Gea is more highly regarded in his position than Clyne. Plus the £10m has been rejected anyway - £15m will secure Clyne I reckon. Plus, it's Real Madrid.
