Nasri To City - Done Deal!

They are a threat next season, don't be blinded by bias and arrogance.

Threat or not they are not Manchester United, simples, that's the point here. That's not arrogance, it's the truth that we are one of the biggest clubs in the world and City are well, City. Aside from money we can offer them everything City can AND much more!

Even if Tevez stayed, Nasri would still be a star for them. He'd also start every game. In fact he'd be the perfect foil to Toure and De Jong in center midfield. I sure hope City don't get him.

I agree, I just meant that if Tevez goes then Nasri is their main player (if they get him)

If Tevez stays I'm sure he'd continue to be their main player but obviously Nasri would still start every match

tell that to Chelsea, as well.

I genuinely feel Nasri is hungry for success and not money, I'm hoping if we're in for him he tells City where to stick it.

I bow to your superior knowledge. Now can we get back to debating football since this is a football forum?

You can, but I can't - I've vowed not to post again this summer except about grammar. So you guys go ahead, and I'll just carry on talking about apostrophes.

The great syntactician Geoffrey Pullum thinks they should be classed as a letter of the alphabet:

The Forgotten Letter

I didn't click the link, but just out of interest, where would they go in the alphabet

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Thanks

They look certain to bank Clichy for around 7m. Nasri? if the reports are true about 20 million and 180k a week then I doubt he would refuse that. I don't think United would want to pay more than 12-15 million with a 100k weely salary.

We will definitely be ready to offer £20-22m for Nasri.

Yeah but as we saw with the Sanchez saga its not always about money, Sanchez didnt want to play for them no matter what they offered hence why Udinese now have to agree a deal with Barcelona, the club Sanchez does want to play for, if Nasri prefers us and does a Sanchez/Eto'o/Kaka etc and tells City feck off i dont want to play for a small club then we're in the box seat assuming we are even in for him.

French correspondent on talksport saying that there is truth in City and Nasri.. However his sources aren't 100% just that City are ready to bid for Nasri. Thinks United's interest is not real (however sounds like an Arsenal fan). City IK from MEN saying talk up in Manchester is that United are still favourites. Basically nothing stories...

When's the last time we bought a player from a rival? Andy Cole?

When's the last time we bought a player fromArsenal? Frank Stapleton?

When was the last time Arsenal were our rival?

Our rivals are City and Liverpool. Our title rivals are those who realistically can win the league or push us to the last gasp

Arsenal havent done enough to be our rival. They are closer to being City's rivals than ours

fecking cnuts those motherfecking bitter blue bastards will try to sing each and every target of ours. fecking cnut, I hope they rot in hell... cnuts

You think so? I can't see it happening. Even if we were to offer a closely matched salary of 150k he would automatically be up there with the top earners. I just don't think Fergie would. Does anyone know the highest transfer paid for a player in his last season?

I don't think anyone would personally say no to Barcelona at the moment. If Wenger already knows that Nasri is 100% leaving I'm pretty sure they'll milk him for all he's worth and I just can't see past City.I'm hopeful Nasri does turn them down and decide to play for the best team in England and want to win trophies (not that City won't eventully :nervous:). I do have a sneaky feeling Ferguson may have one more signing up his sleeve.

To be honest, if I were an Arsenal fan, I'd be fed up with Cesc the way I was with Ronaldo as a United fan - the whole every summer want-away charade. Nasri is far from irreplaceable. Wilshere and Ramsey is a very exciting midfield for the future and could be the core of a great team whose heads won't be turned by the Spanish giants.

Thing is,eventually the stream of mercenaries flocking into City will win them something. It's what happened with Chelsea. Nowadays there are players like Modric who think of Chelsea as a viable option for furthering their career as a footballer.

I'm too lazy to read through the whole thread so I'll just ask.

First of all, doesn't he have only a year left on his contract? So where does this £20m figure come from?

Second, what's with the 180,000 a week wages that are being bandied about? This is Nasri we're talking about, not Messi or Ronaldo.

Don't get me wrong, he's a quality player and I rate him highly but let's not get carried away.

You doubt we'd want to pay the same for Nasri as for Young or Jones? He's easily worth more than those 2. 20m is a great buy. 180k a week is another matter.
