Just wait and see. £20m.. We will make a bid. It will be up to Nasri. I don't see him choosing City over United.

£180k a week is a lot of money to turn down though. I cant see us offering anywhere near that.

But yeah, picking United over City is a no brainer if the wage offers are similar.

What was actually said? Because all I can see is that they're close to signing Clichy but are interested in Nasri

WTF is going on people!!!!?????

What for? They already have David Silva who, in my opinion, is better than Nasri, and they've also got Touré Yaya, who, in my opinion, has worked better with Silva than Nasri could in theory.

They've also got plenty of other midfielders.

:eek::lol:

I'm still undecided on Nasri I'll be honest.

I'm not. I don't want the little fairy here, as I have said since we were first linked with him.

I still believe he will stay at Arse, anyway.

Another, oh, 400 signings and people might begin to believe that City have 'arrived'.
Although the enormous fees & wages they're obliged to offer players tends to confirm that they're still a small club.

Agreed - but perhaps their strategy is not only to strengthen their side but make also sure that we don't strengthen ours..

We wont match City's wages thats for sure. But i'm sure we will give him a lucrative deal. Far better than he would get at Arsenal. If anything City's interest just gives us a taste of Arsenal's resolve.

Fergie needs to do the same trick he did on Liverpool with Jones and Young. Come on Fergie, give us Nasri!

This does make sense.

Well, if that's the case then we souldn't worry too much, Fergie will pull something out and they'll end up with massive ego-fights and lack of regularity in their team, not to mention a problem in midfield. Real Madrid Mk II.

What if Fergie's real target is someone else...

This is getting interesting. If City are interested and it turns into a bidding war we have no chance. If we both make bids and both are accepted, United obviously have a much greater pull an prestige, though City will offer him some obscene wages and I could see him going down the mercenarial route.

You might not think Silva is better than Nasri, that's why I said it's my opinion. Not laughable unless you haven't seen them play.

Nasri is a player who goes past people like they arent there and has a proven record of scoring goals (this season)

Silva has class on the ball but has never had a proven impressive goalscoring or creative record. Last season was his best yet with 9 assists, so its getting better. But Nasri managed 11 with Marseille

There's a fair margin between them at this point

So Sky has already backtracked from closing to sign Samir Nasri to being interested in Samir Nasri

It wouldn't be a big surprise, and then some of the people here would suicide in the same way they do every summer, only to say 5 months later "this guy is awesome". I wonder what's going on in Fergie's mind

Sky Sports News - #MUFC lining up their own Nasri bid in reaction to news #MCFC close to signing him.

Turns out I was the best ITK.

I broke the news Nasri was in Manchester on 10th June.

Will be amazing if the news City were close to signing him means we come in and get the player, not realising that SSN jumped the gun and they were just interested in him

Sky Sports have really been shiite over the last couple of years, some of their transfer reporting can only be described at times bullshit..

In all seriousness, Nasri would be a very good signing for us but if we missed out, its an opportunity for other players.

We can't arrogantly dismiss City as a small club that players would only go to for the money anymore. They are in the Champion's League just like we are, and are possibly as likely as we are to win the league as we are with all our squad upheaval.

While they will offer money and a "project" to develop the club, clearly we are more established as a European force and an Historically great club. Plus we can can hope that Evra will work some magic on him.
We also have a reputation for playing attacking football, where as at City they play a more defensive game.

Who knows where he'll end up, but both are legitimate choices for him.

17:04 Sky Sports News has just brought us some transfer news "to get the pulses racing" (their words, not mine). Their shoutiest presenter has claimed that Manchester City are closing in on a deal worth £20million to sign Samir Nasri, the Arsenal midfielder who's been continuously linked with United in this blog and in What The Papers Say. Our 'noisy neighbours' have been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer - is this all about to change? Let's see what tomorrow, 1 July - the date when players can officially begin to move clubs - brings us.

We can and we will.. The same reason why they have lost the battle to buy Sanchez and Neymar...

Can't wait to see the club's statement if Nasri goes. It'll be a gem.

If Arsenal loose Fabregas AND Nasri, Wenger has a lot of explaining to do.

Also I reckon pete's 10 year plan (which was a 5 year plan last season) will soon become a 20 year plan.

So we've been linked with him for ages, then Sky pull a link with City out of their arses and now claim that we're reacting to City's interest? Bloody hell I knew SSN was shit but that's taking the piss.

I personally think the club have a lot of explaining to do to why absolutely no activity in terms of either buying or selling players has gone on since the end of the season.

I understand the concept of a long-term strategy, and the one we possess, but the problem is that you need to retain your best players during the transitional period. It doesn't appear as if we're doing that. That said, they might both stay yet, you never know.
