Nani will reignite our charge to the title

I don't think Nani is the only player to appear slower when off form but I can't really explain why. Maybe when players are confident they see space to run in and just do it without thinking as opposed to having a little moment of hesitation causing them to lose out on the opportunity to get by. I think Rooney shares the same problem when he is off form. I think they only appear slower because that little bit of hesitation shifts the momentum in favour of the (slower) defender. I may be talking bollocks though.

I think that's a very sound theory, players off form often over-think things and I think people often over-estimate the importance of confidence.

He is:

a) Our best dead-ball specialist (corners and free-kicks)

b) Our best long-range shot specialist.

c) Our most tricky winger.

All the above attributes help teams to win tight games. Hopefully he apologises to SAF, buries the hatchet with SAF and gets a run of a few games. We will all be suprised how well he can do.

Come on Nani.

you sir are a fecking genius.

reminds me of another certain Portuguese player who got regularly criticised for having bags of skill but no end product - then, something clicked upstairs

:D

I recall Ronaldo 6 months before the last WC Ronaldo really started to come into his own, and we all remember what happened after that dont we :)

Brave call Marcus.

Nani was like a 16 year old with a pecker like John holmes, he had the package, just just didnt know how to use it properly.

(sorry, been on the piss all afternoon and thats the best analogy i can come up with)

had to laugh at Mike Phelan's synopsis of the resurgent Nani:

"The penny has finally dropped with him, he now knows what it is to be a Manchester United player"

I think hes realised its just as rewarding to set someone else up than to go for glory himself.

He's playing on the side that suits him and he's feeling 'loved' by the supporters which can't have always been the case. This in itself gives you an extra yard because your that bit more positive on the ball

However the funny thing is when you get people wanting to put him on the left but you shouldn't do that. He's finally in good form, you don't move him. You keep him there. Let him keep on improving

It's hard to say weither he'll be a catalyst for bigger and better things. I always found the dislikeable talk weird because in his interviews, he don't come across as cocky.

What people should see from this with regards Anderson is that 1) he's two years younger then Nani and 2) you can be out of the teams for a period - it don't mean there's any drama

If we can get the best out of him and there is a way to go (purely down to his potential) he'll be a top player for United. I guess suddenly he's not available this summer for any price :)

Thank feck njred didn't start this thread. Then Nani would have been on loan to Preston.

He's 3 years into a 5 year deal. Time to look at a new contract Gill. And for gods sake sort one out for Jonny Evans while you're at it.

I'm not sure he is all that quick though. Which is why he rarely tries to beat his man for pace.

When was the last time you saw him leave a defender for dead in a foot-race? Cause I can think of a fair few occasions where he's got a yard head-start but ended up getting chased down and forced to check back on himself, or try and beat his man again.

I particularly remember the game against Wolves, earlier in the season, where he had the beating of their chunky FB but ended up having to beat him more than once each time.

Hopefully you think he's quick now Pogue :). Glad I stuck by Nani when most had lost hope in him. Seems like the other players think he should be playing from what SAF said. Hopefully he can mantain this recent run. If nani had ronaldos confidence we would be very lucky. I won't mind seeing Valencia benchedi f Nani is contributing like this every game. I still think we can fit them both in somehow.

Whatever way you want to spin it Valencia looks like money well spent and Nani looks like he is a dead man walking. I doubt he will be a United player at the beginning of next season.

See. I told you.

Oh wait ................

Hehe, a lot of us have been wrong about Nani to be fair.

I feel I gave him a lot of time, then I made a post about him just around Christmas saying that he was probably done at United. Should have waited just a month more.

That said, he still needs to prove himself in more games though, three games will not be enough. But the way he is playing at the moment, I can't see how he'll struggle with that.

He's miles better on the right than the left.

He was just as good against Wolfsburg, so technically it's 4 games. ;)

Do we know that yet?

I mean up until this month he has been erratic on both the right and the left flank.

In the form he is in now I can't see why he can't play well on the left as well. His left foot is not weak by any means, he can cross well with it, and it also gives him the option of cutting in.

I'd like to see him given a try at left wing once more, cause a good Nani and a Valencia on the wings against the poorer teams in the League would be a strength.

Nani needs to score. Then the transformation will be complete.

Marcus, is the end of the world really tied up for 2012 ?

Does she love me ?

What befalls of us when we die ?

I don't know but I see Benitez (thankfully) is still at Liverpool.

Does she love me ?

You think she does.

What befalls of us when we die ?

Keep the red flag flying high. United Never die.

He's been excellent the last few games. It really has come as a great surprise. It was interesting to hear Mike Phelan say that perhaps the penny had finally dropped with Nani. We can only hope it has and we will see this form more often. It gives Fergie a touch choice to make though as Valencia has been one of our best players this season.

The goal he scored, was it awarded to him or an OG ?
Anyway, you can still see that in terms of confidence Nani isn't at 100% even if he has vastly improved in the last few matches.I was screaming for him to shoot when Almunia made that poor clearance, he had the goal not all but hugely open to him

Has Valencia ever played on the left for us, or Wigan?

Has Valencia ever played on the left for us, or Wigan?

Seeing as Valencia doesn't have a left foot, and that his one good move is to run outside (which is effective as hell btw) I think Valencia on the left would be a disaster.

Nani should have got the 7 before the season, I had high hopes for him to get it, but after after a while I have to be honest, I thought that it was a good move to not give him the 7 afterall. But looks like he should have got it. His been superb after his "comeback".

I don't get how people can even think of putting Valencia on the left .... just the thought makes me shiver and cringe.

Yes, Nani is playing well on the right but, that is hardly the biggest reason (at least in my opinion). He's had several good games on the left and even in this period of form, when he has shown up on the left, he has shown the same ability as he has on the right.

Nani has also done well in linking up with Valencia when both are on the pitch (when Nani drifts in to lend support).

There should be no question of Valencia playing on the left, if Nani has to be played on the right then it's a matter of Valencia being left out of the squad. Would be a disaster with Valencia on the left. Stop it.
