Nani will reignite our charge to the title

I don't get how people can even think of putting Valencia on the left .... just the thought makes me shiver and cringe.

Yes, Nani is playing well on the right but, that is hardly the biggest reason (at least in my opinion). He's had several good games on the left and even in this period of form, when he has shown up on the left, he has shown the same ability as he has on the right.

Nani has also done well in linking up with Valencia when both are on the pitch (when Nani drifts in to lend support).

There should be no question of Valencia playing on the left, if Nani has to be played on the right then it's a matter of Valencia being left out of the squad. Would be a disaster with Valencia on the left. Stop it.

I wouldn't necessarily agree, I think Nanis decision (which has always been his biggest problem) making is far better when he plays on the right than the left. He's always tended to cut in too much on the left, and instead of passing or playing a simple ball, the first thing that comes to his head is to shoot.

On the right, he doesn't really have that option, cause he doesn't have a great shot on his left foot, so he'll generally use his pace and skill to get past players and do what he does best, play a lovely through ball or cross. I think he's the best crosser we have (bar Giggsy of course) and he's far better at them on the right than on the left.

I've always defended Nani, but I must say, if he's put back on the left I just don't think he'll be as effective a player, and he could go back to his old problems.

Do we know that yet?

I mean up until this month he has been erratic on both the right and the left flank.

In the form he is in now I can't see why he can't play well on the left as well. His left foot is not weak by any means, he can cross well with it, and it also gives him the option of cutting in.

I'd like to see him given a try at left wing once more, cause a good Nani and a Valencia on the wings against the poorer teams in the League would be a strength.
I've always felt that Nani has been more consistent on the right (and have made that point numerous times over the last few months), but even I'm surprised at how many people have gone over-board with the 'Nani only on the right' comments. He's more than capable of playing well on the left, so it's still a viable option. Yes, we should try to have him on the right as much as possible, but when he plays at the same time as Valencia he may have to take his good form onto the left.

With Nani now hitting great form and Valencia being one of our best and most consistent players all season, it's time to experiment a little with them both. Nani on the left, Valencia on the right. Nani on the right, Valencia through the middle. Try to find the best way to fit our two best wingers in the same team.

No better time to try both Nani and Valencia. At OT with the amount of space and possession, it would be drool worthy.

Nice.

aye, agreed

the big fecking question is

why?

any ideas?

Sunny, I don't know what you've posted before but I said he needs to play right to reach potential (even got involved in a retarded debate with Pogue and Allfor about Krasic being the answer to Giggs's long-term replacement, but that's another story). and for Brwned saying confidence is over-rated - anyone remember this faux-Oasis number YouTube - Manchester Giggs performance at "All about believe" ?

I wonder how the caf will react if he has a stinker in one of the upcoming games

that given the last 3 games, he's due one? bandwagon rolleth...
i agree with your scepticism in part, which is why he i think he should play right for a bit before being switched to the left (unless SAF decides to give Valencia a CM role)

From Arsenal-Mania:

When parents go to work, they leave the kids with nanny. When Wenger goes to work, he leaves the kids with Nani.

his right foot is better than his left and he is definately more confident in taking something on the volley with the right over the left.

another good game, not up at his previous outstanding games but just another notch in his good form belt. keep it up lad, now valencia has the muppets frothing at the mouth :D

Not as good as in his previous games, but still a good performance from him I thought. Some nice interplay with Evra and some lovely runs.

Was worried when I saw him on the left, but he played well in a relatively simple game. He really seems to be maturing, bar one or 2 silly shots, he made a lot of good decisions today. keep it up lad.

Bit of a mixed bag. Actually wanted him to shoot more than he was, when cutting into the box, on his right foot. Oh well.

He was good today!! Would have preferred to see him on thr right. Valencia delays alot of crosses from there although he too was decent tonight.

It was pretty much his normal game on the left. Good, but not great like his Hull, City and Arsenal performances.

good game i thought but why not try him on right and valencia on left when they play together

I'd agree with that. Hard to say with any confidence whether the slight dip in performance level was due to playing on the left or not, but my gut instinct is that Ekeke etc will be proved right and we'll usually only see the best of him on the right wing. Those deadly crosses from the right look like his best asset, and even though he's got a good left foot he'll struggle to replicate that from the left. I hope I'm wrong - both he and Valencia deserve to play and it would be great to be able to accomodate them both effectively.

I wanted him to shoot more often as well and was wondering why he didnt go for it more often.
Probably due to the one misplaced shot he had.

Valencia is too one footed for the left.

True but i would rather see how Valencia fairs on the left rather than sticking Nani there knowing he isnt that effective on that side - i mean he does a job but looks far better on the right, i'll go as far and say that his performances on the right have been far more impressive than anything i've seen from Valencia (i know its his first season etc...)

Nani iis a lot better on the right then Valencia so better yo have him on the right. Valencia cant be as bad how Nani has been on the left sometimes

Hope he carries on this form of the last 3 games- if he does its like weve signed a new player, when he p[lays well it seems to lift the whole team, though as was evident yesterday he is much better coming in from the right than the left. When playing well he is the type of United player that fans want to see.

Valencia is too one footed for the left.

Nani crossed the ball one time with his left foot against Portsmouth.

The rest of the time he came inside and passed or crossed, or went round the outside and onto his right foot again. All things Valencia could do on the left and would likely do so without losing the ball as often.

I'm not so sure to be honest.

Valencias game is all about going wide, pushing the ball past on the outside and running for it. I don't see him getting past on the left often enough, and I don't think his left peg makes it worthwile either.

I'm not even sure if he can cut in regularly on the left. He doesn't seem to have that trick in his bag, however daft that might sound.

Its not "all about" that at all. I mean he plays central midfield for his country, he wouldnt do that if he needed to be pinned to the touchline to play well. He could play much in the same way Park does but offer more going forward.
