Nani will reignite our charge to the title

As I said in the matchday thread, I hope this is it, the penny dropping with Nani, the realisation that the early ball is usually the right ball

We all know he's capable of the odd 'magic ball', that cross which just begs to be put into the net, the problem has been it was too infrequent, if he continues in this vain, more will be converted, as the attackers will be expecting it

That's been the problem, he's delayed, which has meant runs are wasted and defenders are set, so those magic balls truly have to be magic, right on the money, with the early ball, they just need to be in an area.

Some really good signs from him today, without doubt his best United performance in my opinion, long may he continue

Nani did not look all that happy after the match....and SAF not mentioning him...hmmm not good

Wayne Rooney provided the magic – and all four goals – that was the clear difference between the two teams. But Rooney wasn’t the only impressive performer according to Sir Alex.

“I thought Nani was excellent today,” he said. “In the second half he hit some fantastic crosses into the box. On another day he might have made four or five goals. So we were very pleased with that”

Just seen the goals and Nani really was heavily involved. The cross for Rooney's third was a peach. Interesting to see that a number of the players made a point of congratulating him as well as Wazza.
Rooney and others went straight over to nani, they seemed pretty pleased for him which is good to see.

Nani in the interview that got him into hot water with Fergie said that no matter how well he plays he's never sure if he's going to be selected two games in a row, and I don't think todays game will change his view. I am almost sure Fergie will play Giggs and Valencia in the next game. So once again Nani will have to cool his heels and hope to come on as a sub. If he performs poorly then todays performance will be forgotten and people will once again start the clock on how long Nani's career at United will last.

I personally think that we should hold onto the player. He's not going to fetch us a price where we will make a profit, and unless he comes out and asks for a Transfer it only helps having him around. Despite being a bit daft with the ball at times, he's still our most talented winger.

Seeing that we play Asnl after the City game if SAF tells him hes saving him for that game i dont think he will be that upset sitting out a CC game, but i reckon hes a shoe in to start vs City. I think we really have to worry if he doesnt start either

Fair play to Nani, he had a good game today.

We need more of these performances.

glad to be wrong.

I read elsewhere SAF did not mention him in the post match interview.

I hope whatever misunderstanding he had with SAF is over. At times today his crosses ..certainly the last one for Rooney's fourth reminded me of Becks...though he showed more trickery.

OK two excellent right wingers in Nani and Valencia...we still need to sort out the left wing.

Nani was great today. Think we better keep him on the right wing.

But then what about Valencia?

Realistically, there is no reason why Nani can't produce similarly mature performances from the left flank. He's more adaptable than Valencia.

it is his stronger side - nani's versatility is his weakness also - after buying valencia he was always going to get put on the left

valencia deserves his place though and has been excellent so far

We are giving Nani a bit of an easy ride if we are suggesting that his poor form is attributable to him being played from the left.

Nani is technically gifted and showing us all that he can play now. He is still young and learning with every game but I would hate to lose him, we've still got better things to come from him.

Good display today, good display last weekend too. More of that please Nani!

remember seeing him play the same great football from the right wing when he last played for Portugal.

Think the Right-wing is his preferred position. SAF probably did not realise that when he went for Valencia. no harm. We need to get a solid left winger to replace Giggsy if one is not coming through already from the youth side.

Cant we try Valencia there? I mean he may be more suited for that, instead of doing his party piece and going to the byline he'll come inside - this might not be bad which him delievering crosses to the far post opposed to across the face of goal

But he's so one-footed it's be easy to mark and defend against... It's HARDER to defend him on the line then it is in the middle of the pitch because he does have a silky smooth touch and good pace... Moving to the middle of the pitch requires less of his good attributes, and more of his lesser.

I know its one game but lets say IF Nani has another good game like that on the right - against City or Asnl, it does warrant giving him a extended spell on that side. I know Valencia has been good this season and he has but Nani has shown he cant play the left too well so perhaps its time to see how Valencia fairs - i know he probably will tend to come in the inside more but is that so bad? With Evra hugging the left touch line we would still have width out there and imo a lot of Valencias crosses have been over hit or behind their targets, on the left if hes hitting the far post i think it'll be pretty deadly

That's the first time I've ever heard Nani talk.

It sounds odd. Not sure what I expected him to sound like, though.

Great performance today, though. I have to admit, I'd practically written him off at this point. It was only Hull, but you can't take away from his performance. Now we know what he's capable of, but more importantly now he knows what he's capable of. This should definitely give him some confidence (which I think has been a big problem for him).

And to think some on here are convinced he's a prick off the pitch.

Aww, just look at that innocent laugh at 2:07... That's not an evil face.

What I'm more baffled about is that some people seem to have already sold him in their minds. One could almost think they want him to perform horrendously so that we can get rid of him. :wenger:

Let me guess you thought he'd sound like Ronaldo!

I think we always knew what he was capable off but he just wasnt performing at those heights, i dont want to get carried away but i just cant help it because that was one of the best performances i've seen from him (i would certainly rank it up there with his Asnl performance).

Knowing Nani though he'll play on the right against City and be rubbish! But i've been a Nani supporter for a while now and do believe he will come good for us - and (like Anderson) i'd rather have him at the club then leave and become a success somewhere else

think most people were frustrated with him like SAF had been. A switch of wings may have been the trick. If he plays that well against better opposition, we will know he has turned the corner.

One thing that I've always liked about Nani, and it was particularly apparent today, is his first time control and touch of the ball. He is especially adept at 'killing' the ball when receiving high balls.

Played excellent today. Now show us consistency!

Would love too see Nani putting in crosses from the right for Diouf to attack them in the air, that would give us a new dimension to our attack.

I had originally stuck up for Nani, but after his performance against Wolves this season (worst I've seen him play )and the following games I was very harsh by my standards. I offer my apologies Mr erm , Nani as this performance has restored my faith in you significantly.

The key now is consistency, please don't let us down.

The OP should be quite pleased with himself - took some stick for starting this thread !

Nani was brilliant today, best ive seen him play for the best part of 2 seasons now id say, his crossing was fantastic he was running at and beating players for fun and he genuinely looked a class player, a player that we know hes capable of being week in week out, he showed some very good positive signs against Burnley the week before and hes continued in the same vain and upped his level even further this week, was great to see that from him today.

It shouldn’t be underestimated how important an on form confident Nani could be for us in these final few months, it solves a massive dilemma for us on the left wing especially as Giggsy cant play every game these days if we have an in form player like Nani competing for that spot to it dosnt half make our wide options look so much stronger.

Id personally like to see him keep his place for the game against city on Wednesday, I think that performance merits it without doubt and I think hes said himself many times hes just craving for a run of games, it cant be easy being in and out all the time….id like to see him start albeit on the left on Wednesday with Valencia on the right and play Giggs centrally alongside Fletcher.
