I think he gets purchased by Sporting for a reduced price. LVG doesn't want him here and there's no sense in bringing him back for the preseason. The first few times he'll hold the ball too long and lose it or make a dumb shot into the stands and he'll be right in the doghouse.

We're likely going to sign another winger anyway to play with Memphis. Our wingers (as improved as Young has been) are holding us back and LVG is not going to put up with it another season.
Sporting can't afford him or we wouldn't be paying his wages still.

Could work.... eh?? ehhh???

Attack is so good defence is no longer needed.

I for one am looking very much forward to Old Trafford going nuts when he smashes in a 25 yarder. I will welcome him back, his confidence has returned and he has said Ed Woodward is in regular contact with him so I can see no reason why he cant come back stronger.

Yeah, you're wrong - he plays as a left winger. He's right footed, but he very rarely plays on the right.
Well I guess he can play both positions. Same goes with Nani. I dont think we should go for another winger and there's more than enough room for Nani in the team.

Yeah I agree with that. He's uncomfortable there, but I don't see any reason for him to be unable to learn. :)

We're gonna get feck all of a fee for him anyway and since we're paying his wages at the moment why not give him a bench spot and see if he can work himself into the first team? Prime Nani was world class!

Why wouldn't we get a fee for him? I'm sure there would be plenty of takers. Still rather we keep him and play him on the right though

Neither Nani or Forlan are world class. Not even close.
Did he bang your missus or something? You're incredibly irrational when it comes to Nani, so he must have wronged you in some way. Even his most stark opposers admit that at his best for us Nani was arguably the best player in the league and one of the best wingers in Europe.

Can you provide the stats that suggest he was near the best player in the league. Has he promised to leave you half his wealth? The lad got booed off which unheard of at OT! He was complete garbage for the last few years...like jermaine Jenas garbage and that is garbage!

Sure.

2010/2011: 31 starts, 9 goals, 18 assists. 27 overall, which was the joint highest in the league. He was also in the PFA Team of the Year, voted our Player of the Year and Shortlisted for the Ballon D'or.

Nobody is saying he hasn't been poor for the last few years but to say that at his prime he wasn't one of the best in the league is pure, revisionist tripe.

Using that logic we defo should keep hold of Falcao as he was great too not long ago. Fact is time does pass and great can become cr*p and it has.

Sorry, what? Did you not ask me to prove that Nani was good for us once upon a time? Now you seem to be completely running away from that and going on about how poor he is now.

Let's be clear, nobody is claiming he wasn't poor for us for the last few years, and most agree that keeping him would be a risk and it might be best to sell him at this stage. These are not things people are (for the most part) arguing against. You've just been saying he was always shit and never a top player for us, that's bullshit of the highest order.

You clearly don't understand football, he hasn't become crap, proof is this season just passed, where is your proof to support he is crap? Other than "cause you think so"

I'm saying he should never play for us again. LVG shipped him out giving him barely a chance. Looks like we both agree on Nani. Abit like Clevs, he's found his level now.

Except that's blatantly not true, as has been pointed out above, because Nani's "level" is potentially top class when he's at his best, like in 2010-2012, and he's been very good for Sporting this season too. Comparing him to Cleverley is silly because Cleverley has never shown anything close to what Nani has.

If you think he shouldn't play for us again, that's fine, I understand that. But to keep harping on and claiming he was never good or his 'level' is the same as Cleverley's is absurd.

So which clubs can a) afford Nani's wages and b) actually really use a player of his quality? I'm assuming we don't want to sell within the PL....

You do realise Nani leaving this season wasn't LVG's choice? Nani wanted to move away, this was the only way he'd agree to a new deal, if he went out on loan and cleared his head/ found himself..

So if anything, LVG sanctioned a new deal, paying his wages while he plays for another club, I don't think that was to squeeze a few extra mil out of him, I think he's a fan of Nani, but when LVG started we played 5 at the back, and you can't have 3 up top in that scenario, now that we seem to lean to 4-3-3, he'd be ideal with Memphis & Januzaj

He should come back next season and prove himself that he is up for it to succeed in Old Trafford. He wasted the last two or three seasons basically. And if he still has the ambition to be one of the best, Manchester United is the place.

In the case of Nani, I've decided to just put away the economic perspective and stuff like that.

He's one of the increasingly few players left after SAF, and it would be heart warming to see him come back and succeed at Old Trafford.

Yes. Yes it does. It'd be like your mum saying you were the second best player in the world.

Not exactly, you can use that to discredit a lot of players on that list if we start scrutinising all their votes, his stats and performances that season were astonishing....World Class imo.

@RedorDead21 if those aren't enough you're also more than welcome to view some caf threads from that time that further acknowledge just how good he was for us at that point.

Or you can keep pretending he's always been rubbish for us like you've been doing in here non stop.

You missed out the best one:

And he was getting slagged off something rotten at the start of the thread.
