I've heard LVG gives everyone a chance but perhaps we're gonna add further to the wings.

Just take him on U.S. tour and see how much he can add to technical side of a build up. Didn't watched him much on loan but I reckon the hammer is still in both legs.

When opponent will park the bus Memphis and Nani can easily try a long shot. It worked in a past for Nani. Few goals of the season were scored.

Thats a good point. A large part of the problem recently has been that we struggle to break teams down when they sit back and defend and we have knowone to come up with that bit of magic to unlock their defence or someone to score from long range. This is one of the reasons Nani is invaluable in those types of games as he can create something out of nothing and score from miles out rather than this hopeless non stop sideways passing that gets us nowhere. From the looks if it Depay can do this at times as well.

Its like Holland and Bayern with Robben, im not saying Nani is on Robbens level but these teams could always have loads of possession and often struggle to break through until Robben bails them out with a long range curler or a magic dribble that changes the game.

I've always liked him. At times he produced some magic on the pitch, wish he could do that again.

Exactly. Even if keeper will parry it the chances are a well positioned striker will finish it. Saw that million times with Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov vulturing for a free giveaway after Scholesy's, Ronaldo's & Nani's attempts outside the box. It would be possible to almost fully emulate that with couple more smart additions instead of passing to each other because nobody has cojones to make a simple decision that could save time and open the score.

If I remember correctly LVG asked Robben if would come with him to Manchester after tournament which already says a lot that he may actually want to recreate this simple but so freakin effective game mechanic.

Exactly and despite all his faults the one thing Nani can always do is make space for himself to get a cross in or have a shot, even if a few go flying over the bar lol. He has the skill to get the extra yard which currently I don't see from anyone else in the squad which is why we just end up passing backwards/sideways and recycling possession and creating nothing.

I know we may add one more attacking player soon but I just want see what Memphis, Di Maria and Nani will create when they'll combine their attributes in one lineup. So far there's absolutely no arguments that could undermine the idea of testing Nani on U.S. Tour. I mean, we're living in times where Young gets a brand new contract...

If there's no other distinctive magician on the horizon to sign, Nani is Manchester United player. End of story.

He obviously doesn't give everyone that much of a chance given that he shipped Cleverley, Welbeck and Hernandez out after a quick pre-season. Nani was here for that short period too and looked unbelievably poor so I'm not sure LVG will be that bothered to give him a second chance.

Never gonna happen with possession Louis here but the possibility.

We may well do that since Januzaj is likely out on loan. We need another winger to fill his squad position.

You can ban me for a month if Nani is still here after the Summer transfer window closes.

Stop trying to bait me with Januzaj nonsense already, as well. It's tedious. I'm an asshole in a variety of ways but this constant Adnan talks a bit lame. Surely you can peg me on something else for a change?

Do we? ADM, Depay, Mata, Young and Valencia will all likely be here next season and none of them are all that injury prone (unusually for our team). How many wingers do we really need for two positions?

I meant a proper technical winger.

Can we really call Valencia a winger these days? Dreadful there.

He's more of a utility squad player these days, which is why I wouldn't be shocked if Nani returned for added depth, especially if Januzaj is off on loan and Di Maria may move on.

It's a real shame Nani never managed to maintain his 2010/11 form, we could really do with that Nani right now. He was quality that year, it was a better performance than Hazard's this season. I think his time's up but he'll be hard to move on given the new deal Moyes gave to him, so maybe he will get another chance here.

Whats going to happen with Nani? Surely he must be on his way out after the Depay signing. If Di Maria leaves then Nani could come straight in to replace him and do the same job being just as inconsistent with moments of brilliance :).

Anyway, I would like to see him given a last chance under Van Gaal, just for my redcafe names sake lol.

Well I think Memphis is a right winger. I may be wrong.

I never liked Nani. He's too clever for his own good. However I see little point in selling him especially since we will get peanuts for him. On the other hand by having him back we would

a- have cover for both LW and RW
b- we would get a winger whose unpredictable and is pretty good in scoring goals
c- we would be able to loan Januzaj
d- we'll have two pacey wingers

I think he gets purchased by Sporting for a reduced price. LVG doesn't want him here and there's no sense in bringing him back for the preseason. The first few times he'll hold the ball too long and lose it or make a dumb shot into the stands and he'll be right in the doghouse.

We're likely going to sign another winger anyway to play with Memphis. Our wingers (as improved as Young has been) are holding us back and LVG is not going to put up with it another season.

I think nani and Memphis could link up quite well. I'm prepared to give him another chance.

Signing him on for another 5 years was perhaps the worst financial decision this club has ever made......

How do you figure that?

If (as I'd still love to see) he is rewarded for his good season with another go in the team, it was a good move.

If (as is more likely) he is moved on, then we should get a reasonable fee for him, instead of him going for nothing as he would have.

Given his salary, it's more likely that we would have to pay someone to take him off our hands. Might have been cheaper to give him a free.

Its not as silly as he made out, but even as a fan of Nani paying his wages and giving him away for a season after giving him a new better paid contract, is hardly shrewd maneuvering.

Also, not directed at you, but people citing Valencia and Young as wingers, they arent, quite simply and if we do switch to a 433 the wingers will be inside forwards, other than Depay and Januzaj, Nani is a clear favourite..

Valencia, Young and ADM havent shown good enough form ever wide of a front three

If he does come back, a front line of of him, Rooney and Bale or Dybala would be a tasty proposition(would leave no space for mata though). Reckon they could do quite a lot of damage. I'd understand if he's brought back, despite his decision making issues its difficult to just dispose of a talent of his magnitude. Another one that I believe will benefit from us having a more settled side with a clear game plan moving forward.
