Nani is the only one of our loaned (half established) players that has a chance of coming back and having another go. I hope so, but if a good offer comes in, i dont think we will keep him.

Nani in the current system would work in either wide spot. He can cross, he can play the quick passing game and can come inside and shoot. I don't expect him to be playing for us next season but, would love to be wrong.

Depends Raoul. If you bring him back and put him on the bench, you will probably see old Nani. If he´s given a run of games i think he can replicate his good form at United as well. But i think United will invest heavilly again (specially if you make it to the Champions League) and he would probably do better to move to Valência or Mónaco and play for managers who know him well and trust him (Nuno and Leonardo Jardim).

How's he done fitness wise? He seems to play all the time for you guys, yet could never stay fit for us in his last couple of seasons. That was his main stumbling block imo. After a run of games, as you say we usually see good Nani.

Probably the only issue would be LvG's opinion on how long it might take for Nani to adopt the philosophy. (Nani's a footballing perfectionist, so personally I think he and LvG would have zero problems regarding this issue based on what the latter's clearly told Young.)

However, a good part of that hinges on us getting CL. Fingers crossed we get it and definitely agree Nani has a place in a squad challenging on all fronts.

the right wing is there for the taking, regardless whether it is 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. obviously LVG sees valencia as an attacking RB now.

hell even the left wing is not sorted out yet. ashley young has been fantastic there though.

nani right wing and depay left wing for next season please.

And where does Juan Mata fit in for you?

Its no question his last few years for us have been marred with bouts of terrible form, and injuries but what he will always provide is that genuine game changer presence. Somebody like Valencia or young are structured players who wont do anything fantastic 99% of the time but will contribute to the build-up play and provide an option, someone with Nani's skillset might be shit for 70 minutes but he's always got chances in him, something we lack a lot of the time this season. as long as the rest of the "core" of the team is built with solid parts, i dont really see the danger of having a risky winger in the team personally.

Provided he's given a fair chance for gametime I would gladly take him back next season. interchanging with mata/di maria could return us back to the ways of old.

or he could be whack.

anywhere in an attacking position behind the striker. the more quality players we got the better isn't it?
Fair enough. I just think this formation we're using now looks pretty strong, and Mata has worked very well on the wing (albeit with licence to drift around.) In any event, I'd love to see Nani back as I think he can offer a lot to the team, even if he's not a pencilled-in starter.

yup that's true.

hopefully we'll be back in the CL and with the amount of games next season having another top player with restored confidence in the team is a good thing.

Fitness wise he has been excellent. Don´t forget he had a long campaign with League, Champions League, Europa League, Cup and National team games. He missed some games in December due to an injury playing in artificial turf.

Thanks for that, if he could stay fit for us then i'd have him back in a heartbeat.

So annoying to watch his compilation. His dribbling is damn near unstoppable and he's one of the best dribblers I've seen. Great both in pace and from standing still.

Wouldn't mind seeing nani playing in our 433 on the left. Offers so much when he's on form. Shame that never lasted

If LVG can get half the transformation out of Nani that he got out of Young, then we'd have a remarkable player on our hands.

It's a shame but I think his time with us is over. One of the few technically gifted, pacey two-footed wingers around.

He's our player and is more than capable of excelling in the 433. It's a no-brainer for me, albeit I appreciate that from his personal point of view he'd be best served by leaving for guaranteed game time.

Next season we have Di Maria, Mata and Young, potentially Depay too. There's also Januzaj, although I suspect he may go out on loan. Lots of competition there.

It's funny seeing us linked with other wingers when we already have this guy. Give him a run of games and he will perform.

Still got something to offer here, just depends on his mindset or whether he could be in LVG plans.

I thought he had lost pace, but he is still blisteringly fast! Amazing dribbling.

Same, that was biggest worry but it definitely doesn't look like he lost any pace at all.

Trying so hard not to get attached to him and his potential again, avoiding those videos.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I'd love to be proven wrong, but if he comes back next season something tells me he'd be inconsistent and ultimately disappointing again. And I'd rather be proven wrong that way than believing that the 2010-11 version of Nani will return.

United winger Nani doesn't want to make his loan move to Sporting Lisbon permanent, according to reports in Portugal.

The 28-year-old has spent the season with the Portuguese club who he joined United from in 2007.

He told Portuguese publication O Jogo: “The fans asked me to stay, but we all know it’s hard, because I have a contract with Manchester United and my ambitions are different this time.

“I am very happy to have spent a year at Sporting. It was a great time, helping Sporting where I could and finish in the top three."

That's a great highlights reel, but the problem with these highly technical fast and skilful players is that when it comes off it's amazing and when it doesn't everybody gets frustrated and and bleats on about consistency.

Giggs was booed 10 years before he retired, Nani was booed and many people think Di Maria is shit.

If you were to do a highlight reel of Di Maria for this season, we would see some incredible stuff, but you can't expect that sort of player taking that many risks for everything to come off every time.

Having Di Maria & Nani in the same team would be incredible and we would see some amazing stuff, but people would still be saying the same old crap about inconsistency.

One good example was the WC semi-final, Di Maria did nothing all game, then one piece of magic put Argentina through. If you accept that, rather than crying every time if doesn't come off, then fine, but football fans are too fickle and don't know that much about football.

So, youtube compilation aside, there's been nothing posted in here since March. What's that all about? Injured?

From what I can make out he's not been injured, just not scored in the last 4 or 5 games. No idea how he's been playing though. @Sly would be able to provide a summary I'm sure.

Di Maria, Young, Depay, Nani decent set of wingers. (If Januzaj goes on loan and we keep Nani)

Wow. What a spectacularly ignorant post. The game is full of players who are just as creative and skilled as Nani and Di Maria (if not more so) yet are idolised by their fans. There's a reason Eden Hazard has been a huge success for Chelsea this season, yet Di Maria hasn't for United and that's not because United fans "don't know that much about football"

For me, it says an awful lot about the character of the guy when he has endured such criticism, gone to a club where he has excelled and is loved by the fans - yet, he still longs to return to Manchester. It could be assumed that he himself feels he has a point to prove at United. Whether or not LVG is of the same opinion - remains to be seen.

Biggest thing that could actually assist Nani in a return, is the eradication of this 'Similar to Ronaldo' bullshit! He no longer has to live under that shadow.

Would he give Rooney and aneurysm - yes.
Do I want to see him doing backflips in front of LVG - yes.

He doesn't say that he wants to return to United. He just says that he has different ambitions which means that he could just want to play for a better club than Sporting and there are many Europe wide.

I read it as him saying 'thanks but no thanks (I want a better club)'.
