But the chop doesn't normally flick the ball up does it? Also nani does it from basically standing still whereas the chop is usually done at pace

That's true, but I think it was definitely that move he did - the ball just happened to flick up, maybe because it was done from a stand still? Brilliant move either way.

In my opinion he has been. Excellent in the Champions League, MoM in the cup after we eliminated Porto away and has been decent in the league games against Porto and Benfica. Mind you there´s alot of good competition in Brahimi, Jackson Martinez, Óliver Torres, Sálvio and Gáitan.
Has he been playing mostly on the right wing or left?

How's he looking pace wise? I seem to remember in pre-season he looked pretty slow and lethargic (for Nani standards), certainly not as quick and explosive as he once was. Is that still the case?

Anyone? @Sly

I think he deserves preseason. Could be a good competition next year on wings Januzaj/Nani/Young/DiMaria/Depay(Reus) I would take both. Young's in excellent form but who knows when he become shit again. I mean I see him more as a cover for Shaw at LB or on the right if Valencia and Rafa's off.. he's pretty versatile to play number of positions.. Dimaria for me is rather midfielder so we should have game time for everyone playing four competitions considering some injuries etc..

Would be great to have him back, especially as he'll be like a new signing. Although signing Depay may mean we have too many attacking options to justify keeping him.

Unless we do revert to a 4-3-3.

He got tactical freedom to roam all over the offensive end but he has played mostly on the left since Carrillo plays on the right.

Pace wise he has been excellent. Now of course that is due to the slower nature of the portuguese league. Even so he has been holding his own against the quickest players in the Champions League/Porto and Benfica games. His only injury came from playing in artificial turf.

He's been playing almost exclusively on the left wing to start, although when Mané is in the lineup or comes in for Carrillo, they switch it up quite often. That marvel goal he scored last week was when he was on the right wing with Mané on the left.

As for pace, he looked marvelous for the first three months of the season, but he picked up a thigh muscle injury in late December and he hasn't looked the same since. After the game last week when he talked to the media, Nani gave all the impression that he's been playing injured for a while now, or at least he's been in pain.

Cheers lads @Sly @bm_5

Good to hear that he's got his pace back. Although that mention of looking like he's playing injured does sound very reminiscent of his form in pre-season, he was just so slow and laboured in his movement. Nothing like the fast, explosive, Nani we've come to expect. It was actually really weird.

Nani  What a game today. So many dribbles worthy of gifs and then a perfectly executed header when we were drawing 2-2 at home with only 10 men on pitch. Amazing player, never affraid to pick the ball and take responsability to drive the team forward. No way he will stay with this form. Might not be back to United but will surely be in a top league. Carvalho also scored and is finally hitting last season's level. Important with the portuguese cup second leg semi final coming up

I miss Nani :(
always liked him.

Could have used him today.:(

It´s wonderful to have a player like him. Opponents praise him. Problem now is replacing him. With our budget it will be impossible. Hopefully he will lift the portuguese cup before he leaves us.

loan di maria to sporting (pay them his salary) and recall Nani from loan.

Apart say a couple of games the sixty million player didn't show any better quality than Nani showed us over years. He cost us fortune and so far struggled to settle in. He is actually very much like Nani very inconsistent with some glimpses of brilliance which is not enough of course.

I don't say he won't come good in the end but that horrendous diving attitude and simulation every time someone touches him, it's disgusting. Januzaj's dive didn't really pleased me either.

And I also think that Nani is little bit prettier (not that ugly).

No harm he's playing well. I'm sure we have people keeping an eye on him. Either we get back a confident Nani or we get a decent price for him.

If history tells us anything, you probably will in your youth academy. Very impressive today.

Get him back, there's a serious lack of quality wide men on the market, so letting him would be a mistake if we intend on using width.

I wonder if the OT crowd would give him more of a break after getting used to Januzaj and Di Maria's even more excessive antics?

Logic would tell you has to come back, should take Janujaz's place in the squad who is crying out for a loan at a club like Everton, it all makes to much sense to happen though.

He has always been a very good player just not taken to heart by some in the local crowd. He needs a manager with absolute faith in him to perform as we saw that once SAF began to mess him about and then that clown now Spain, it went pear shaped.

Some time ago I said he has the ability to be a top 5 in the world player and was ridiculed. He has been my favourite player for United for the last few years but it broke my heart to see him booed by some fans and chastised by fellow players. Why would he want to leave a place where he is respected, appreciated and loved to return to a place where some fans grab every opportunity to insult and embarrass him?
If I were Nani I would seek certain conditions before I returned. Everything he was accused of doing, especially poor decision making and losing possession, our current wingers do it more.

Nani has his negatives but he actually has a good assist record, should've kept him in the squad.

Very ready to play Rooney up front flanked each week by 2 of Di Maria, Nani, Janujaz and a new, goalscoring winger all competing.

His form seems to be exceptional. Get him back I say. Deserves one more chance, just like Young and Valencia have been given.
