I don't care how much ridicule I get for re-iterating this but if Nani continues like this domestically and in the CL he will show everyone he can be a top 5 world player.
I really want to see him perform like this in the champion's league. There is nothing Robben and Di Maria can do that Nani cannot match. I don't care how much ridicule I get for re-iterating this but if Nani continues like this domestically and in the CL he will show everyone he can be a top 5 world player.
That's why I think he has to prove himself in the CL. Trouble is he will always be double teamed/ marked.I don´t think he will become that. But he´s too good for our league. His decision making has been flawless today and he has even been defending
Didn't he have a massive smash in a Lambo back in Portugal a few years back?
Yeah maybe it was.
Must have been some time ago then, because I remember being worried!
Nani are you ok? Nani are you ok ? Are you ok, Nani ?i'll take my coat
7 years was fair chance. He has to stay fit- something he didn't do with us for a few Years . At United if you are off-form you have to be even a little useful in some other capacity, (Valencia at RB, We beck-who we wanted to keep-as a winger , Rooney as a CM). LvG tried Nani as a forward and it didn't work -apart from wide or upfront (and that was before Falcao) there is no place for him with us trying to play 3 strikers.Surprise surprise he is performing well when he gets some consistent gametime and a bit of trust put in him.
Next will come the barrage of complaints of "why couldn't he play like that at United?" when he was given very sporadic inconsistent gametime over the last 3 or so years.
I have similar expectations of Kagawa, Welbeck and Hernandez - for all that we harp on about squad rotation, I think all of these players have the ability to be top players and simply weren't given fair chances at United.

The Portuguese league is not a top one, so once he stays fit he will do well as an attacker but it doesn't mean it will translate if he comes bark. I do hope if he stays fit all year LVG will consider him in the Summer, but I feel since before Moyes that Nani had already checked out of Manchester mentally.
He did have fitness issues but that's really not the whole story. I've said it before a few times, I think Ferguson was really harsh on him and really underused him in favour of Valencia. He wasn't always injured, he was often fit and couldn't get a game even if Valencia was in poor form. On the whole Valencia was given so much more time than Nani, much more than he often deserved.7 years was fair chance. He has to stay fit- something he didn't do with us for a few Years . Then why was he consistently our best player between 2010 and 2012? Since then it's just been injuries and a luck of trust shown in him so he couldn't prove himself.Tbf I know exactly why he couldn't play like that for United. He wasn't really good enough. Obviously he's going to look better now that he's taken a step down in level but that doesn't suddenly mean he's a top player.
Completely agree. No matter how he does and whether it's drastic improvement or not, I don't see any level of performance salvaging his career here and quite frankly I don't want it too.In my opinion no matter how he does in Portugal, he won’t be our player next season. I don’t think he can save his career with us.
IMO it’s time to move on.

Even if he has an excellent season, it could be attributed to a fresh challenge, fresh motivation and an added incentive to impress and improve. It's no certainty that he should translate the same form were he to return to the United squad next season.
I almost want us to seek out of principle. We've held on to deadwood and players who haven't contributed consistently for far too long with Nani and Anderson a few examples. The latter is approaching a testimonial for Christ Sake! We need to be more ruthless with players who aren't cutting it.
How that shower of shite Valencia got games ahead of a fit Nani is beyond me.
Nani are you ok? Nani are you ok ? Are you ok, Nani ?i'll take my coat
That was bad...Smooth
But Criminal
This because we've held on too long to players who just aren't good enough or are never fit enough to play a meaningful role for us. The best he can do for us is ro perform well enough for some Russian team to pay a reasonable fee for him and salvage some of the money we have invested in him and his like.In my opinion no matter how he does in Portugal, he won’t be our player next season. I don’t think he can save his career with us.

How did he fare so far with them?
To return to the club where he graduated is, I believe, a good choice as he would not have played regularly at United. Nani was my player for several years and I can say that he has fantastic talent.
Heard he is doing well. Apparently, this is what SAF has to say on Nani:
Plenty of the players have the talent to do well at big clubs. The question is whether they can turn it on with any consistency. He's no more of a talent than Ben Arfa (for example) but there's a reason he's at the likes of Newcastle and Hull.
Shame he never kicked on and became a really top drawer player, but it isn't happening now. Hopefully we can get a decent fee for him when he's movedon.
Good deal for Sporting, getting a talented player and not even paying any of his wages.
