We can only hope he does good this year, so we can sell him for a good fee next year and don't have to sell him for peanuts because nobody is willing to pay for his wages.

Nani
Chicharito
Zaha

I don't believe anyone of them has a future here so I am really rooting for them to show their ability so they can be sold next year.

Nani is the only one I've written off. I still hold slim hope for Zaha because of his age and Hernandez just because when he comes back Falcao may move on and maybe even van Persie if his form continues.

The Falcao loan deal looks for me like a shaddy "loan" deal. I think that we've agreed to buy him next year, but didn't want to splash the cash this year. LvG isn't the type of manager who loans a rental for only a year. Chicharito is gone IMO, I mean he was even behind Welbeck in the pecking order and he was sold as soon as LvG got a decent chance. I think Zaha isn't professional enough for LvG, he really likes young players and to educate them, so I think he'd not sent him on loan if he believed he could really contribute to this team. Tbh I'd sell him in heart beat and add some cash for Depay.

I think Falcao was a favour to super-agent Mendes. I still believe he was destined to go to Real Madrid and when that fell off, had to come somewhere and we were happy to take him on 'loan'.

I'm still clinging on to a muppet hope that Falcao will have a brilliant season and we'll be able to swap him for Ronnie next season.

I've seen people post this a number of times, he's on loan, so how could we swap him for anyone? Maybe Monaco will swap him for Ronaldo?

Hope to see Nani come back and improve us... don't want to see him he go somewhere else, put his troubles behind himself, and rub our faces in it for the next 6 years... fcuk the caftards who disagree. On song Nani is a beast of a winger, he's already shown it...

Non existent defending there and given way too much time and space (more than you get in the EPL)

He's had his chance(s) with us. Time to move on no matter how well he does in that league.

It's his defence and working hard for the team that has been his problem, not his ability to score goals.

It's nice to see a classic Nani goal, but his days with United are over.

I'd never say Nani struggled with that, his problem was he was hot and cold, too often cold, drifting out of games and not being involved quite simply, very frustrating when he could have such an effect on most games if he was more consistent.

You can't expect a flair player to simply find it with starts here and there.

But the dilemma was that Nani can be selfish and give the ball away in bad areas even more when trying to get a nice run of form after injuries.

So a loan was good for him. But I hope he comes back as the old Nani because that level is Hazard and Ribery.

Nani is the past, Di Maria the future. Keep scoring so we can sell you to somebody like Inter for a good price lad. Not mentally tough enough (or smart) to channel all the talent he had.

This. Nani's best is pure world class . I still have hope for him too, no matter how bleak the chances. You never know in football.

For someone who grew up in a very poor family and had to go play barefoot on the streets as a kid and then get to playing at biggest club in the world for one of the toughest managers in some of the biggest games, he is plenty tough mentally and smart enough. Unfortunately for him and us, he's had a rough couple of seasons with injury followed by change of management and circumstances surrounding the club that now sees him heading out of the club.

Don't think anyone disagrees with the part in bold. The problem is he doesn't show it often enough.

I would take an injured Nani over a fit Valencia

Granted, but that's not always a reason to sell someone, we aren't stacked with wingers any more when you look at our squad..

The answer is to get better ones, not stick with ones that continue to underperform.

Di Maria is a great start.

He is, but will be mainly used in the central role, and I'd wager we should look to improve other positions before his..

He is in this system, because we're playing without wingers. Obviously if we're keeping this system we don't need to bring Nani back or indeed replace him. However, when we move to van Gaal's preferred 433 in time Di Maria will be used out wide I'm sure.

Semantics really. For professional footballers, maintaining a level of performance is as important as achieving it in the first place.
Yes, moreso, but they are different things... In short, I think he has shown that he doesn't lack mental toughness or smarts, he lacks confidence... lacked...

I still say Nani's problem is that he's a RW who kept being rotated between the right, left and bench. Hard to be consistent when you're played inconsistently. I think he'll dominate the Portuguese liga the same way Quaresma did can fetch us a very nice fee next summer.

We're really splitting hairs here but I think having strong self-belief is an element of mental toughness.

Re the smarts, he might be a member of MENSA but he's never been the smartest player on the pitch. I think it takes a certain type of intelligence to adapt your game to cope with a drop in form and still contribute. Valencia's a good example. Been really struggling for form but manager after manager still thinks he's a useful player, even when he's doing very few of the things he was signed to do. When Nani's not playing well he doesn't seem to be capable of playing it safe. Just keeps giving the ball away in dangerous positions, time after time. Must drive his manager nuts.

Doesn't he have a 5 year contract?

Not anymore he doesn't. Although we've all wiped the memory of last year from our minds it doesn't quite work like that for contracts I suspect.

Being tough or smart to the ways of the street are different to being tough enough for the world of football. I feel Nani had not mastered the latter which is why he is at the stage he is at - injuries or no injuries his talent should have him on at least robben level.

I think Nani is far more suited to continental football than the physical fast pace of the premiership. I certainly wish him well, but regardless of how he performs in the Portuguese league (hardly a league that gives an indication of an ability to perform at the highest level) this year he shouldn't come back to us next year.

We just bought Rojo from the Portuguese league. Am I missing something here?

If he plays out of his skin in Sporting, he should be given a chance here unless a great offer comes in and he wants to leave United. If such a scenario worked out he would be our second best winger.

Rojo's performances in Portugal haven't shown he can perform well at the highest level either. He's shown he can perform for Argentina at international level, and we'll be able to judge his performances playing in the Premiership at a consistently highest level at the end of the season. Rojo looks like he has all the ingredients to make the step up and had a very encouraging performance against QPR. We can't judge him properly yet though.

Nani however has been with Man Utd for seven years. During that time he's never demonstrated consistency at the required level and at times he's been woeful. I don't see how a great season in Portugal suddenly means he can play in the premiership again when he's had seven seasons to prove that and failed?

Fair enough.

That is absolutely false. He has had several streaks of good form, one that made him our player of the season once. He has demonstrated his ability to play in the Premiership. Injuries and inconsistent selection (while Valencia and Young enjoyed long fruitless stints on the wing) robbed him of form, and I'm only saying that if he excels on loan, as a player still on the books, he deserves a shot at the team. Unless we buy 2 new wingers in that time frame, in which case he wouldn't be needed. But a Nani on form would be useful for us.

Feck me, what a goal by Nani. His technic and play  Thank you so much guys :D

Will put the gif later.
