Nani couldn't convert a penalty.
How has he played apart from that?Nani couldn't convert a penalty.
How has he played apart from that?
Hmm.. Only first game so he'll get better once he gets a run of games. Hasn't really had one for a few years now. His United career is probably done with Di Maria coming, but I'd still want him to do well for his sake and get back to his best, or close to it.Keeper ain't letting anything in tonight. Nani's penalty saved.
What you'd expect from him really, not good not terrible.
Just started watching at Min:81 did not see himBtw. He got subbed earlier.
3 IMO, just behind Messi and Cristiano.
And with Cristiano having injuries lately and Messi other problems (taxes, being small) we could see Nani topping both of them, shame Rooney doesn't see it and won't give him chance to prove his true worth in United shirt but at the same time he didn't hesitate for a sec giving himself captain armband, arrogant prick!
Nani was never a good penalty taker, very silly to have him do that.
C'mon now, Nani himself doesn't think that.I expect Nani to have a great season and a lot of clubs will probably be after him. I still think he could be a top 5 player in the world.
It was an average performance. We are currently struggling under this new manager but i expect the team to play better as they get used to his methods. Nani was one of the most dangerous players along with Carrillo and Mané but his decision making was underwhelming. He should improve as he gets used to his new teammates and tactical setup. He shouldn´t have taken the penalty, was annoyed by that. Adrien has a 100% conversion rate and should remain as the penalty taker. Hope this nonsense doesn´t happen again although i understood the will for Nani to score on his debut. Thing is the collective should be always in front of individual interests. I hope he learned a valuable lesson. Last time a player did that at our club (Bojinov), the next week he was being negotiated to another team.
As usual really (Apart from when it's against Albania)Started watching sexond half of Portugal - Albania.
Nani is the captain (Ronaldo injured) and in my opinion he is the best Portugal player on the pitch. Still hoping that he can do well in Sporting and came back in our team. How is he doing for Sporting? I had watched a game against Benfica but Nani was anonymous.
Albania is not a bad team. He was injured a lot and never had time to come back n the team in recent years so i wouldn't judged him on that. As i said, i still hope that he can come back on top and become useful player for us.As usual really (Apart from when it's against Albania)
Which is exactly why I don't want him back in our team. He's had his time, did well for a couple of years but was absolutely gash towards the end.
I think he's a good player but come onI expect Nani to have a great season and a lot of clubs will probably be after him. I still think he could be a top 5 player in the world.

Well I'd be unhappy too if I was rich, and still being paid a 100k a week despite not performing, had a banging girlfriend, was fairly famous and was all pampered ...He was unhappy, hopefully he starts to feel happier & gets his form back for next season:

oh hold on!
Yep.What a tit. You, not Nani.
Because that's exactly how the human mind works isn't it. Our mental state is determined by our wage & if our partner is good to look at. fecking hell
Was reading that brilliant stats thread...
That Nani has a comparable assists record to Beckham and Giggs no less, despite not getting a consistent run in the team for his 1st 2.5 seasons, and then for his last 2 seasons, speaks volumes about his ability. At his peak, was a genuine menace to the opposition, someone you couldn't control easily since had a good 1st touch, deadly whipped cross, an eye for a creative pass, pace, tricks, and a powerful shot. The real deal. Why SAF dropped him in the middle of his best runs- at the tail end of his glorious 2010/11 season and then midway through the 2011/12 season (at its beginning he was on fire, playing easily his best match ever vs Chelsea at OT) is a mystery to me. He never hit those highs again- but he was never trusted again, despite consistently delivering when he was.
The shoulder barge vs Ivanovic at 0:22 with the big Serbian left on the floor was a genuine I-am-amazed moment. As for Ashley Cole, he simply ignored him at 0:35, 1:05 (the whole play is great) 1:14 (awesome deep cross), then at 2:57 he leaves him on his backside, then again at 3:07 (dreadful cross though), draws a penalty from him at 3:35 after an effortless dribble and cannonball shot, and again Cole is on his backside at 3:58. I don't think the best English player of the Golden Generation has ever been shown up like that- not by Ronaldo, not by Messi. Both struggled against Cole.
Also featuring a glorious pass at 0:55, and a beautiful disguised pass at 4:12. The chest control at 4:20 belongs to a Zidane highlights reel.
Seriously, one of my favourite United players. I know I will be ridiculed for saying this but if he kept that level (maybe if he was just shown the same confidence again?) he would be considered in the tier just below di Maria, Robben and Hazard. He had the talent, and, for 2 years, he had the application and the backing from his manager, and in those 2 years he delivered, majorly.
Hoping somehow he can recapture that but have prett much given up by now.
EDIT:
The correlation between his getting dropped from the team and the increased shitness of our general play is hard to miss as well.
The very next game against Chelsea in the FA Cup, he was looking pretty good until going off injured just before half-time. When he had that run in the team under Moyes I'd say he was half-decent in some games, but nowhere near his best.Did never ever put in a half-decent, or even quarter-decent, performance for us again after the outrageous straight red against Real Madrid?
Against Chelsea in the FA cup next match. We were winning 2-0, he picked up an injury late in the first half and Valencia replaced him. We pretty much didnt attack again that game. It's clear from that short article that it's a crisis of confidence. Hopefully, he will get back his mojo and come back renewed.
He was my favourite player after Giggsy in his pomp.
Just watched the video again, breaks my heart to see his treatment and decline over the past couple of years.

No but if he was truly unhappy, then he could have not signed a new deal that kept him here last year when Moyes offered it to him and taken up the other offers he had when his contract was almost up. You know force a move away like Welbeck did this summer as he wasn't happy at being 3rd, 4th or 5th choice...What a tit. You, not Nani.
