Nani | Contract & Transfer talk

This is a good move for both Nani and United. He will dominate the Portuguese league the same way Quaresma did. We'll get a good fee for him next summer (Assuming Sporting doesn't already have option to buy)

his form over the past couple seasons has been depressing. He will be one of my favourite united players ever despite recent events.

So we loaned him but are still paying his wages ? If true, the daftest player transaction ever.

goodluck to Nani! sending our best winger on loan probably isn't the best move for us, but will be good for nani as atleast the fans will be behind him

Not when he'd have sat here the whole season, twiddling his thumbs. If he regains his form, I'd say it works out even better for us.

Alternatively, we could've allowed LvG a chance to revitalize him. At 27, he isn't likely to return to us, and this is going to end up little more than the first step to a permanent move to Sporting or elsewhere, which makes paying his salary galactically daft (if true). In essence, we got Rojo for however many millions and lost Nani for nothing, and on top of it, still get to pay his wages even though he's not playing for us this year.

Do you expect Sporting to pay 120,000K in wages?

No. But then again if the receiving club can't afford a player's wages, they shouldn't get the player. Unless Nani specifically asked for the move, it was a highly suspect, panicky sort of thing to do.

He took absolutely the most shocking corners I've seen for us. 9/7 were hitting the first man. He had the confidence to do it in cool manner 10times a match and waste a good number of direct freekicks as well... just because of that I am quite glad he is off.

Ryan Giggs says hi.

Something has to give sometimes. We're desperate for defenders and it probably took Nani's loan to sweeten up negotiations.

Sporting shouldn't have been allowed to take him on loan unless they can afford his salary. Id rather saw him involved in a swap + money deal to be honest. Juve was interested in him once

LvG didn't see that revitalization happening when he isnt going to play much so its a fair deal IMO. This deal isn't galactically daft, the decision to give him a new contract last season was.

I doubt he will come back. If he is successful other teams will want him. Why would he come back to a place where he is hated by so many fans?
If he does he will have certain demands.

So everybody is convinced he won't be back, and I can see that it's likely this is the case.

But say he rediscovers his best form and rips up the Portuguese league, what would be the point of letting him go then?

Find it strange that the club haven't said anything about Nani yet

Presumably, that is why we bought him in the first place. In the main, it didn't go well. He is now older so irrespective of how he does this season, I don't think he can cut it over here any longer.

At least he'll be more or less playing week in week out now and will be playing on the Champions league stage too so he'll be well on the shop window and with a bit of luck he'll do well and impress some club that'll be able to afford his wages and that'll be the end of that chapter.

I'm actually very disappointed at Nani's departure. When in form I think he's Utd's best winger
Yea when he is in form he is super but for some reasons it is not working her and it doesn't seem that he gonna be in form again. Let us not forget that he is 28tish or something. Good for both parties but i wish him all the best though.

Hope it's not the last we see of Nani, hope he sorts himself out and comes back the way he once was... negative cnuts can fcuk off...

This might be a good move forhim. Regular football might be just what he needs.

I'd much rather have loaned out Valencia though.

It was very predictable that Young and Valencia would stay whilst Nani would leave. Nobody would pay Young's wages either, not even clueless clubs like QPR.

Should have happened at least two years ago.

Goodbye, won't even notice you're not here anymore, Nani.

This is the crux though, isn't it, we are looking to loan sell our only marketable players (Nani/Chico/Fellatio(?)) as we won't be able to find homes for the likes of Young/Valentia/Cleverley.

Sorry to see him go, after Giggs, my favourite United player. Doesn't seem like a good deal for the club, but unfortunately we don't do good deals.
It tends to happen when you start to isolate players and they become frozen out. Berbatov was the last one who went for nothing, Hernandez hardly got a kick last season and will go for a lot less than he should, and Fellaini hardly played even though he was our big signing last summer, and we wont even recoup half the fee. It's actually shocking how much of a loss we have on transfers out.

Surprised at some of the hateful comments in this thread. sad to see him go,even though he hasn't been on form for 2 years. He still is the only winger who can produce some magic in our squad along with Januzaj. Paying his whole salary while loaning him out somehow feels daft but hopefully getting games regularly would reignite his confidence. Looking forward to Sly giving us Nani updates!!

On the face of it this looks a very good deal for Sporting. Getting Nani effectively free for a year plus a percentage of any sell on fee for Rojo.

We have seen flashes of brilliance from Nani over the time he has been at Old Trafford. Most importantly, I will always remember that he came on for the last ten minutes of the CL final and nervelessly converted the last of our "regular" penalty kicks. Had he missed, Chelsea won. Anderson was similarly nerveless and I had very high hopes for these two.

Sadly, that promise has never really been fulfilled except in patches and Nani, like Anderson although not quite as bad, is far too often injured to make a telling contribution.

I wish him well in Portugal.

Only flashes? He was probably the best player in the PL for an 18 month spell, and not bad the season after either.

Nani may have had a big fall from grace in recent years but I feel it's highly unfair to say he only had 'flashes' and 'patches', and as some seem to be saying, never fulfilled any promise, when that's just not true. He was a massive contributor to some very successful years at this club. I have way more appreciation for him than, say, Anderson, or Berbatov.
