That quote makes it clear to me the player is at a club that know they have to sell but just wanted to get through this season before doing so.
It rules out Bale, Modric, Pastore, Hamsik etc IMO, and points more towards Young, Sanchez, Hazard or maybe even M'Vila.
I really hope its Hazard or Hamsik.

I think that I was misunderstood. My list summarized what I believe to be the likely candidates SAF may have been interested in buying (one of them). The first name that crossed my mind was Kagawa. He was doing very well at Dortmund, scoring piles of goals and Dortmund chairman said that we were interested. Adam earned great reviews from SAF so one can't be surprised if we were interested in him. Young is the typical type of player SAF likes. He is fast, down to earth and can play in numerous positions. Finally there is Henderson who, according to Bruce, we were interesting in buying.
Each of these players should fit perfectly in the value criteria (decent salary/fee and right age) + would bolster positions which we need to strengthen.

i would not have minded us signing Adam in January, but I always felt he would be a stop gap signing in terms of quality. A good mid-season addition to the squad to help out with midfield rotation (particularly of Scholes) but I wouldn't want him to be a key target in the summer.
Well whoever this player is it looks like he will remain a mystery until summer.

Nani played brilliantly on the left last year. If you think he is good at cutting in and shooting on the right, he is even better at doing it on the left.

Obertan, Cleverly, and Bebe can fill in for Giggs,Park,Valencia, and Nani next season if need be. We have had significant injury to Valencia and Park went to the Asian Cup and we coped well. Time to see if these youngsters can make the grade on the wings next season.

Of the three young options on the wing, the only one I can see making an impact next year is Cleverley. I really hope we give him a shot.

What we need is creativity in the midfield. We have enough goals in the team elsewhere. Just look at who is topping the EPL scoring charts for teams.

Kind of answers your own question... Why do people seem to believe he's the real deal. Half of us haven't seen him play and no one mentions him as a hot prospect (Yes i know his been injured), but i doubt he is prime candidate.

I haven't seen him play, i just know that we have been linked with him for a couple years now, so it wouldn't be to surprising to me if we went for him.

Nuer and Adler are out of contract in 2012, neither is in the Champs League and Adler even has a special buyout clause only for United. Not saying highly likely but esp Schalke need to consider things is all I am saying.
