Mystery Player

Mascherano and/or Henderson being bought to replace Scholes would be downright depressing. It's all right if we don't buy a star name but just not Henderson. And Mascherano :nervous:

No matter who we sign, he has to fit into a 4 4 2 system This for me rules out kagawa pastore sanchez. I think it has to be a playmaker or a left winger.

Defour is a midfielder that could join but i dont think he is the player SAF was referring to

Mascherano would be a good signing - can't see it happening though. And Henderson would be a shocking signing - just a bang average mid table player for me.

Absolutely. Henderson is nowhere near good enough for United. Since our "interest" in him I've followed him quite a bit this season and he just never stands out.

And I can see Mascherano happening. He's started just 8 games at Barca and not really fit in. He'll be cheap and we need a Hargreaves replacement. Especially to control midfield away from home. Can't stand Mascherano though.

Masc would kill me!

I think Ashley young would work really well at United.

Nani, Valencia and Young would be great to cover the wings.

They might sell him to raise some money to approach us for Fabregas. So let's hope Barcelona decide to keep him. I don't know about Mascherano's moral compass, but there might be the issue he played for Liverpool. And the fact that he claimed he left because his wife hated English weather.

The talk of Henderson really took off after he scored a nice goal against West Ham. But in terms of what he contributes over the course of a game, I'm just baffled to what everyone seems to see in him. Decent player, but won't exceed the quality of a Joey Barton at any time in his career. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though, given his nationality.

I don't think you will be proven wrong. He'll be a decent player and nothing more imo. There is nothing in his game that immediately makes you look up and take notice. He was very good at Stamford Bridge but that's the only time I remember him playing really well. I'll be extremely disappointed if we decided to replace a Scholes with Henderson.

As for Mascherano, I think he would move. Why wouldn't he? He gets playing time, he's playing for a top, title challenging team. And the wife can be convinced :p

Still think he'll move to Italy though. Maybe Milan?

Still not one mention of Shinji Kagawa of Dortmund.
Dortmund kept coming out saying he was not available at a price and that there was interest.

Did you read the thread? There were a few people speculating it could be a Dortmund player and Kagawa in particular.

Not when he hasnt returned from injury yet no. He hasnt played since we sent that letter last year

yes he has. He got injured again. Unless there is another letter?

Me neither, he's got the most punchable face in the world. Even more than Ballack.

Nah, Suarez has that "honour." He looks like the kid at school who'd run to tell the teacher about everything.

Anyway, I'll agree with the "cm please, Fergie" camp.

I thought it was Taarabt?

If you put two and two together that might be who Fergie was talking about. People say he's crazy but why would he randomly say i'm ready for United in the summer. Maybe he was told a deal couldn't be done in January as they still need him to help them reach the prem but in the summer he can go....

Not a far.. cry just hope thats not the only outfield signing.

Hmmm, buy X, sack Y.
This thread could run and run.

De Gea.
Could have been.
Didn't need to be right then.
So wasn't.

Was checking his game log on zerozero and they had no games for him since then. When did he come back and how often has he played?

played at the begining of the season and got injured in Novemberish if my memories right, he had to have surgery on his shoulder. It was a shame as he was getting cose to form again.

No to Mascherano - we don't really need a destroyer, and he doesn't really control games as someone above said.

No to Henderson - I don't think he's capable of being anything more than a squad player here.

No to Young - Good player but not good enough. If we sign a wide player it should be someone who at the least can challenge Nani, Valencia and Giggs for a first team spot. We have a number youngsters who will soon step up to squad players (and hopefully after that even more).

Eden Hazard could be a possibility, Lille have had a great season and are currently top of Ligue 1 so they wouldn't want to sell him in January but seem ready to lose him in the summer, and he fits in with our youth policy.

My guess is Yann M'Vila. There were rumours that he wanted to leave in January but they never came to fruition. He's a 19 year old who starts regularly for France, yet plays for Stade Rennais. He'll be snapped up by a big club soon enough, it's just a question of whothat club may be.

yeah i think it is M'Vila as well although Oxlade-Chamberlain could fit the scenario as well
