Mystery Player

We don't need a big name winger.

And Valencia is too damn good to sit on the bench which means Nani will play left.

Nani played brilliantly on the left last year. If you think he is good at cutting in and shooting on the right, he is even better at doing it on the left.

feck it, Nani can really play anywhere.

We should buy a goal scoring and or creative midfielder.

Obertan, Cleverly, and Bebe can fill in for Giggs,Park,Valencia, and Nani next season if need be. We have had significant injury to Valencia and Park went to the Asian Cup and we coped well. Time to see if these youngsters can make the grade on the wings next season.

And yet we still rely heavily on Giggs who, at the ripe age of 37 is capable of keeping much of our wingers on the bench. Valencia is a good winger but he is no Giggs or even Nani. I wouldn't mind seeing us get a good winger to bolster our creativity, on the other hand first priority should be given to Central midfield and goalkeeper

Ashley young should in theory be on cheap next summer. He's versatile, he is English and he's much better then Obertan/Bebe etc. At United He may well end up proving to be better then Park and even Valencia himself.

The new and improved nani hasnt playd much on the left so its hard to know for sure but i think he wont be as effective. The thing is he can shoot with his left but when it comes to crossing its a different matter.
I think on the left he will look to cut inside all the time and we be easier to defend against. the ability to whip in a dangerous cross is rare. Nani mostly dleivers on his right side. But i cant see him being as effective when crossing with his left. hence he would be come one dimensional. Therefore we do need to repalce giggs with a left sided player.

Why?

Just curious why no one thinks it is a keeper?

We clearly NEED one at the end of the year and there have been a few bandied about. Not saying some of the other guess are not plausible at all, just wondered why there was not a keepers name on the odd list here or there?

I think most of us agree we need a keeper but i don't think the manager was referring to a keeper when saying he wanted to bring someone in january.

Next summer i actualyl expect us to sign a keeper and at least one other player. Maybe two if scholes retires

Everton are struggling for cash, maybe a bid for Jack Rodwell may be on the cards?

Would make sense for Everton to sell for 15 million +, they are pot less and i think Moyes may be tempted with a bid like that?

Just to throw another name into the mix, what about Ganso? he's fallen out with Santos and has been tipped to move. I know he's not the type we usually go for but given his size I think he could adapt to a midfield 2.

Nani was signed as a right sided player, he also plays a lot of his international football down the right and the vast majority of his stand out games for United have come off the right.

You're dead right, his crossing from the right vs. the left is chalk and cheese.

And from the left i don't think he has the opportunity to come inside as often as he does now as defenders are more inclined to show him down the flank where he'll flop in another frustratingly average cross.

We tried Nani on the left side for 18-24 months and many were calling for his head. Some use a couple of very isolated performances to suggest Nani is as good on the left as he is right, but for me he really isn't - one swallow and all that.

I'd be very keen to get a left winger/forward in. Not Young though.

I agree with this, I think it's crazy to move Nani after he has had his best season ever and become arguably the best player in the league playing on the right side, the side that Fergie has openly admitted he prefers.

I don't want Nani back on the left - he's too damn good on the right. But he'll perform wherever he's played IMO.

Other option could be Valencia at RB, where I think he'd be world class, but that means less matches for Rafael. But imagine Valencia and Nani overlapping on the right.

Or, perhaps Valencia in a three man midfield?

I wouldn't be surprised if Valencia's talent to play in CM is SAF's hidden bullet. Seen him do it for equador, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled the strings for us.

For me, if we go for A.Young, it will mean the end of Obertan, he's link away to United also suggests this. Young would provide better delivery into the boxes for sure and if we're buying A.Young for 15m while Liverpool are splashing 35m for Carrol, they you can say we've got a bargain in our hands.

My preferred target would be Pastore, I think he just scored again for Palermo despite losing 4-2...

What in the world of holy crap are you talking about?

Rumour has it AC Milan have pretty much tied up a deal for him.

Redcafe...

Valencia Ferdinand Vidic Park
Rooney Smalling Berbatov Evra
Nani Carrick

To be honest that could work, I've always thought Carrick could be a striker and Smalling looks like a midfielder material, Berbatov would be great in the middle too.

What about, get over the fact that Spurs werent interested in Inter's £40 million interest in Bale and we're never going to be offering any more than that

lex Ferguson's interest in bringing Borussia Dortmund teenager Mario Gotze to Manchester United has intensified.

The 18-year-old has cemented his place in the German side’s first team this season and his four Bundesliga goals have helped them to the top of the table.

United boss Fergie has had scouts watch the attacking midfielder in action, according to German newspaper Das Bild , but have yet to make an official bid.

In light of the academy graduate Gotze’s impressive form, Dortmund have raised his fee from £12m to a staggering £20m.

Is that a fact? I thougt it was denied?

Spurs comments on the idea are fact. They'll reject that money and hold out for more, you know Levy. And someone will eventually pay more like with Berbatov, Keane, etc.

It would be great to sign Bale. But it'd also be great to sign Fabregas. Neither is going to happen

I would reckon Nani would be of far more use in that central position than Valencia would be. Nani is more two footed and trickier, so would find space to exploit easier. Nani tends to drift centrally a lot anyway, more so than Valencia who hugs the line a lot more.

Is Anderson just dismissed now?

It's the transfer forum, our existing players are worth bugger all in here and are dismissed to be 'got rid of' in favour of whoever is the current flavour of the month. Sad, but true.

Its probably that young Belgium lad from Standard Liege, who's been injured & Fergie's been keepin tabs on him personally or that young Greek lad!

There's no chance we'll ever get Bale without a rediculous sum, we made a serious feck up in not gettin our hands on him before Spuds got him, but from what i hear, he went there because he was offered more money. United should have upped the wages because we've ended up regretting now!

True about Nani's two footedness, but Valencia has played there a number of times for Equador and done a job.
