There is no way its Modric.

SAF said someone he thought he'd have a chance to sign in Jan. There is no way SAF thought he had any chance to sign Modric in Jan. Nor Bale, nor any other players currently playing in UCL clubs across Europe.

Its probably someone like a Henderson or Chamberlain. Someone playing not at a UCL club. Someone young and probably willing to move in the future.

'All out..' stop reading the title and interpreting it as what SAF said.
 
If its a player that might have been available in January then that obviously rules out Hamsik, Goetze, Kagawa,Eriksen and players like that whos teams would not consider till the summer.
Simply has to be Ashley Young or Oxlade-Chamberlaine!!
 
Couldn't it be Defour or whatever his name is? The Belgian midfielder we've been linked with so often.

I read that rumor a few days ago. Was pretty 'quiet' and I think midfielder is more likely. Scholes has not commited to next season yet and we need a midfielder. It might be that saints kid. Maybe they see something in him but Mascherano wouldn't suprise me especially with Hargreaves being fecked

He'd be the ideal Hargreaves replacement in all honesty. But I'm just shocked he'd even consider moving back to England, given why he left. But stranger things have happened in footballers lives.
 
I can understand the logic of looking for a defensive midfielder. With Carrick as our only natural choice in that area we need a back up and a replacement for Hargreaves.

I didn't thought it would be Mascherano, his family didn't enjoy their time in Liverpool so why should he consider Manchester as an option.
 
I'd take Mascherano in a heartbeat. The best 'I commit around ten fouls a game but never get a yellow card because I look so innocent' player there is. Could be a valuable addition to the squad, especially in the latter parts of the Champions League. But I doubt this could happen, remember why he chose to move south after all...

Exactly right, for me it'd have been young or chamberlain - I think we'd be waiting on Henderson unless someone else had made a move.

Everyone who thinks SAF will spunk 30+ mil on players like Pastore instead of 15mil on Young have clearly not been paying attention to how United now operate and are going to be really disappointed in the summer.

Don't understand the negativity towards young, we're short of that kind of player in the squad at the moment, I wouldnt say no. Likewise, with chamberlain, I'd rather have him than not - having missed out on other prospects like Bale & Ramsey etc.
 
Ramsey was a horrible miss. I was really disappointed when he went to Arsenal after saying United were the team he supports.

Maybe he felt he could develop at Arsenal in the first team and then move to us later :wishfulthinking:
 
Jordan Henderson IMO.

Dont think he is utd quality tho.

We need replacements for giggs and scholes, they will carry on for another year but we need to freshen up squad.

I think we'll sign sanchez or young

Still not one mention of Shinji Kagawa of Dortmund.
Dortmund kept coming out saying he was not available at a price and that there was interest.
 
I don't care who it is, as long as he brings in at least six players in the summer. Preferably one every ten days during the window.
 
My lads mate reckons he knows someone who knows someone else who is mates with Bastian Schweinsteiger & it's him. Apparantly he's had a thing for Utd since he was a teenager & just has this feeling that he will have unparalleled success & become the best player in the world ever under SAF.

We supposedly made a very large offer in Jan, which Bayern dismissed out of hand. But somehow Schweinsteiger got to hear of it & is pissed at the club for not informing him of the offer. We'll have to up our offer, but he wants to go so it looks like it's on....
(Complete bollox but he would be a perfect player for us)
 
Henderson doesn't get me excited at all and i really hope we dont get him, And not at all for the price mentioned in the tabloids. We can get Sanchez, Defour, Hamshik, Kangwa for around about 20 mils. Henderson might be just a bit better than Gibson thats it, why would we want such a player ?:mad:
 
If Gibson goes the I would happily sign Henderson as a squad player until he develops into anything better.

I hope to God though that Henderson is not the 'one' player Fergie has in mind. Our midfield is hankering after more than Jordan Hwnderson
 
Perhaps it's telling that SAF mentions how 'billionaire owners have changed the football world' and United have to accept that. Maybe this means that we're now prepared to spend very heavily on this 'mystery player'.
 
We'll have to wait and see. Mascherano would be a master stroke!! Should have been here already along with Tevez when that stupid deal with west ham was agreed.

Why people hating on Ashley Young for?? To me we could make a great player out of him.
