I would have preferred that money going to Leão instead. However, Arteta’s track record with big money signings is impressive so I’m inclined to show faith in this project. Arteta and Edu are thorough when it comes to scouting profiles, and Arteta’s work on wide players is remarkable. Mudryk is definitely overpriced by about £40 million though, but I believe his profile is one that tends to garner huge fees. He’s a pace merchant with great acceleration and strikes the ball well. That alone makes him a £60 million player.

Leao will likely cost £50m more than Mudryk.

Check out Fofana’s thread on Foxestalk. They absolutely loved it when he threw his toys out of the pram to force a move to Leicester but they thought he was a scumbag and everything that’s wrong with modern football when he did the same to move to Chelsea.
From what we have seen in Arteta's handling of Ozil and PEA, he doesn't keep any player that is not 100% committed to the team or not fit to the team's tactic. I see no reason Arteta will keep any player who wants to leave against his wish.

sign of the times that Arsenal are spending this much on a player who won't be a nailed on starter from the off-set

you have to say it’s the way to go. You’ve only gone upwards since he got rid of them.

Similarly to us, no lingard pogba or ronaldo and we suddenly look half a team again

No I get that. I was just talking about the fan reaction to this kind of public twerking for another club.

They are trying to get him signed for the game against us on Jan 22,we have new manager bounce against Villa, this could be new player bounce.

As of the 2021-22 season,

Arsenal have now lost money four years, adding up to a shortfall of more than a quarter of a billion pounds in this period (£259m).

They also had the highest transfer debt ahead of us.

In this way their transfer debt increased from £133m to £188m, which means this has more than doubled from £77m in 2019. This is now the highest amount owed in the Premier League, just ahead of Manchester United £182m.

With 70+25m for Mudryk, they would catch up to us in spending for 2022/23. They will run into curtailing spending pretty soon.

Arsenal fans here are back being giddy but they are betting a lot to get back to the top-4.

Arsenal’s recent spending is even more remarkable considering that they haven’t competed in the Champions League since 2017! And missed all European competition last season.

I still remember Patrick Vieria had the chance to join Real Madrid while he was at his peak. He chose to stay(I am not sure if it is because of loyalty or for Wenger, or for the fans). Wenger sold him to Inter right away when his performance declined. When he retired he said he regretted his decision.

I am all for player to move up the ladder while they can in their short career, and don't stay because of loyalty(clubs have zero loyalty to their players). They should only stay at the club when the club is the best place for their career.

Seems the Napoli guy is a bigger talent from what I read? If so, may as well spend huge money on him if a wide player at all

Yeah, I'm not keen on this in a prospective player. I'm sure most were quite glad when Antony forced his way here from Ajax, but it's so easy to see him doing to same to move to Real or whatever if he were to catch fire and fulfil his potential.

Napoli won’t sell him until summer 2024 at the earliest and probably not until 2025 or later. And by that time he could easily cost 150m+, demand to be one of the highest wage earners in football, and attract the interest of every huge club. Passing on another talented player to wait for KK isn’t much of a plan.

Remember 2 of those years were heavily affected by Covid like they were all clubs. Like I said earlier as well, had we qualified for Europe last season we'd have been close to breaking even, so we are back in the correct path to being self sufficient already, being in Champions League takes revenues up by a bigger margin again.

I agree with you though, we've had our main shot in the arm to get us a competitive team again, much like it seems Utd had last summer, and to allow a big turnaround in the squad to allow a younger more competitive team. Hopefully if we continue to be managed well it will be quality over quantity going forward.

He might, and I'm usually the same about not liking it, but considering the circumstances he and the club find themselves, I think a bit of slack can be cut about him not wanting to be priced ridiculously out of a dream move to escape it.

Not mad if they would start him instead of Martinelli tbh. That kid is absolutely brilliant.

Well Mudryk will cost £60m for sure, and I am heavily expecting the £20m to he hard to achieve and based on us winning titles and him doing well individually, in which case, the £20m will be worth it.

Antony was £81m upfront for sure, and £4m in add ons.

The difference is actually relatively decent, even though the final price is similar in potential.
Antony is left footed, that adds 10-15 million to the price. Left footed players are only 10% of the total players if I remember correctly.

The only parallel between this and Antony transfer was that both clubs were very specific and adamant that they wanted that player and that player only and thus had to shell out insane money as the selling club was reluctant to sell at that time. (Mudryk being a Jan transfer and for Antony Ajax had sold many player in that window already)

Both are huge overpays.

100% correct on this. Fans often don't get this.

Bet they do, there's no way they play those three in a row and avoid defeat.
I fully expect us to lose at the very least one of them but maybe not the City game if they can't find their form back.

This. Talented without doubt but too much money for someone who is not going straight to first 11
Agreed, i think most fans are worried but willing to give a pass to Edu & Arteta because so far, their transfer record is spotless. Only Lokonga underwhelmed but was a cheap gamble and might still become a useful player with the right loans.

I literally don’t disagree with any of that and we’re talking about two different things. Wanting to leave to join another club is fine for most fans, especially when they know it’s a step up for the player or he just wants a new challenge. What Mudryk is doing no fan would tolerate. Imagine Rashford gets linked with Real Madrid and he starts giving interviews about how it would be a dream to play Real Madrid and shares images implying he’s in prison at United. There’s no chance fans would tolerate that behaviour even if they can acknowledge it would be a step up for Rashford.

Off their heads. Put him on a 10 year contract and watch him flop.

Paying 100m for Mudryk would be insane. He's promising but not a sure success at all. I'd rather we spend that money on a CM/DM

Would love to know what the feck Chelsea are doing. They seem to be just jumping on deals with absolutely zero plan.

Well played Arsenal. Which player can we get Chelsea to sign next? Aboubaker?

How the feck are Chelsea complying with FFP?
