Moyes To Succeed Ferguson Anyone?

The cnut has only gone and met with Everton chief executive in London or so I am told. Shit sticks.

If it's Moyes, it's because he's a similar manager to Ferguson. Personally i would not mind Moyes, yes the lack of trophies and European football experience is a worry but i think he'll do well.

If not.. two/three years... Pep is free.

The one thing I don't understand is the constant statement that he has no money to spend and that he overachieves (in the League, obviously he's massively underachieved in every other aspect).

Everton have a similar wage bill to 4-5 teams outside the big 6 (United, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool). Out of that list of 6 teams who spend much more on wages he is currently outperforming one... A massively shite Liverpool.

He has essentially done a longer version of what O'Neill did at Villa - exactly what would be expected given his resources. Are we really giving plaudits to someone who is consistently merely doing exactly what is expected?

If you're going by overachieving look at Laudrup - nearly half the finances and only 3 league positions lower. Hell Steve Clarke has the same amount of points per £1m spent on wages this season.

hatred?

I for one welcome the coming bandwagon clear out when Moyes is announced.

You're still banging on with this notion that the only people unexcited by the potential appointment of Moyes are bandwagon jumpers who will feck off to support someone else because he isn't Mourinho. There are lifelong fans who will be underwhelmed by this.

Seriously, what fecking age are you?

Are we really going to act like a bunch of psychotic Liverpool and Chelsea fans if Moyes is confirmed as Fergie's successor?

Surely for a manager this would be akin to Christmas morning? All season Moyes will have been desperately trying to get a goal out of Anichebe and Jelavic, then all of sudden he has Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney?

I'm going to be most interested in players like Nani and Ando - who have clearly struggled under Fergie - wonder if a new manager will be able to get something out of them.

If we get Moyes and we had people booing like Chelsea did with Benitez - then it's really a sad day for United.

Moyes knows the league, the club and the players.

He has done a good job at Everton, and got the team playing good football at times. He has been good in the transfer market, and proven more than once to have a good eye for promising players.

Why not?

Stable, respected, documented results, relatively young and proven loyal.

Agreed. The short term goal will be to be successful in England. It's how we can maintain stability. I wouldn't expect much from Moyes when it comes to Europe, but I think that's fine for now.

Lets just hope the core of backroom staff is retained by the new manager. If that is the case continuity could be a major plus. I suppose Moyes will agree to this more than Mourinho. If I was a young player I'd certainly want someone like Moyes at the helm.

Moyes has got all our enemies licking their chops. He's done nothing in 11 years, has no CL experience and has never managed big star players.

On the other hand we could have went for Mourinho who has won league titles in 4 different countries, has won the CL twice and has managed some of the biggest names in the game.

I feel sick at the thought of Moyes and his ugly brand of football steering United forward.

Yes. Well, until we win a few games, then everything will be hunky dory.

From the greatest manager of the history of the game... to David Moyes. Hmmm.

Moyes is not a winner.

I am not sure whether Moyes is the ideal candidate because:

1. Limited experience in Europe
2. How he would handle the media and pressure
3. Whether he has the same drive and desire to win. (Last result against Liverpool does not give too much hope)
4. Whether he would be able to have the respect of the players.
5. Whether certain world class players would sign for United to play for him.

I am nervous:nervous:

We won't. But he's starting off with less grace period than Mourinho would for example. Mourinho is a proven winner, so he'd have more leeway.

Seriously, people need to get over this. If it is Moyes then it's clearly been in the pipeline for at least two seasons and he will have had many talks with Ferguson about how to approach the job. Not only that but I get the feeling Moyes would not be bothered asking Sir Alex for advice with difficult situations, he has been known to ask advice of him while at Everton. This will be Ferguson's own choice and when the greatest manager of all time recommends another manager over all other options you just hold your hands up.

Can't fecking believe that Mourinho is not being mentioned anywhere... or United have not even sat down to discuss with him.. Seems like decision is made in favor of Moyes.. SAD DAY.!!

Do you watch Everton a lot. They've played better football than United this season. United have more exciting players who can produce those "wow" moments, but Everton are a surprisingly good side to watch.

This season they've played some good stuff but over the years their football has been dull and uninteresting. I just don't see any freshness of ideas from him. He'll do tried and tested things and keep us "solid", maybe even successful
. But I wanted us to go in an exciting direction. Watching united has gotten a bit boring of late.

Moyes has a net spend of less than 15m in his time at Everton and Everton's wage bill was 10th highest last season so I'd argue he has done better than he should have by consistently having them in and around the top 7/8 positions.

no world class player is going to get excited about signing for united with moyes as the Manger!!!

Moyes' ugly brand of football?

Mourinho is hardly known for having his teams play absolutely beautiful football.

And he hardly stays at a club for more than a few seasons, before he gets bored of the surroundings and the surroundings get bored of him.

1. A huge worry
2. He's excellent at media, pressure of United is huge though.
3. He's got drive but would he gamble 1 point for 3 like SAF does?
4 & 5. Unknown.

Ah, United are boring for you? There's an easy solution to that.

Have you considered he might be on his way to another club, or may not want the job?

You know what, after reading that I now find myself giddy with excitement. I think I might have pee'd a little. I don't know what came over me earlier, clearly this is a wonderful appointment and we should all just get over our frustration and disappointment and be trouser wettingly excited at the prospect of David fecking Moyes following on from the greatest manager in the game.

Watching United win the league is boring?

I thought our supporters had a bit of class, until today. Moyes has been called every name under the sun.

O'Neil spent fecking loads more than Moyes. Clarke and Laudrup have been in charge for 12 months, it's not really relevant.

How can you not understand that Moyes has had no money?

Only 3 league positions lower, correct. How ever it's a 14 point difference between the two sides. Everton are closer to Chelsea in 3rd (8 points) than Swansea is to Everton.

The last four seasons, Everton have not spent more than they have received through player sales. Where as Martin O'Neil was bankrolled by American owner, and jumped ship when he could the cash from the owner dried up.

Real United fans have some class. But this forum gets a lot of tossers who will be quick to move on when the trophies dry up.

Clubs who down the years have had similar budgets and are of a smilar size to Everton.

Newcastle - Relegated, constant madness surrounding the club, not finished higher than 5th, currently in relegation battle.
Sunderland - Spend obscene amounts of money to never finish in the top 10, currently in relegation battle.
Villa - Again spend obscene amounts, never finished above 6th, have played garbage football for years and are currently in a relegation battle.
West Ham - Spent big on wages a few years back, relegated, never finished higher than mid-table.

Some perspective....
The only clubs that can say they've done better than Everton for the last several years are the obvious clubs.
city are only finishing above Everton because of the money, and Liverpool and Spurs who have been better financially backed have still had years where they've finished behind Everton.
