Moyes So Far!

Mata has been a great signing, criticise Fellani all you want but not Mata.

I'm not criticising Mata or even Fellaini. I'm just saying that he's spent £70m and the midfield is significantly worse than previous years, he can't use the midfield being sub standard as an excuse when he has had money to spend.

Why did he put Rooney centre midfield? No fecking bollocks, just take him off, he was shit all game. Bottled a big game decision.
Then the masses on here would be saying "why take Rooney off when we need a goal?".

I just wished he stopped throwing Hernandez on whenever we're trailing, regardless of the state of the game. We can do that if we've pinned the other team back and just need another poacher in the box, but Hernandez is useless in a disjointed team that is being dominated and it just leads to us losing further control of midfield.

He spent 27m on the midfield. He didn't get the targets he wanted. I agree with your point, just was referring to the 70m spent on the midfield.

Credit to Moyes over the two legs. Our tactics and set-up was spot on for the 180 minutes. We knew we'd have to soak up a fair bit of pressure and then be clinical in the chances that we got. I can think of at least three very good chances that we squandered over the two games, which you cannot afford to do at this level.

All in all, encouraging signs from the manager. Of course they'll be a ridiculous group out there who'll try and pin this one on Moyes, which is so misplaced it's untrue. It's not his fault he was left with a sub-standard midfield. Here's to sorting that this summer and signing players who have the courage and quality to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The spine of the team is there already and quite exciting: De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Valencia, Kagawa, Rooney, Welbeck, Januzaj etc.

We'll never die.
Unlike the ridiculous group who are trying to claim this a victory for Moyes?!

We have been playing with the defensive minded sh*t against everybody in the league. Yes it helps you avoid being humiliated by the big teams at times (although Moyes failed even at that sometimes), but it's not really showing the progress we're looking for.

Nobody should criticize Moyes for our loss against Bayern, but nobody should make an achievement out of it for him either. We still lost, you know, and quite comfortably in the end.

Why should a manager of a top club care about that? Rooney was clearly unfit today and he is a player that gets affected from that very much (just look the game against bayern in 2010 how bad he was). It wasn't a good decision from Moyes to keep (or probably even start) Rooney on this match.

We had some of the best chances over the two legs, and squandered them. Those chances don't just magically appear out of thin air.

We had a couple of good chances in each game, that's not enough, not at all! Watch the Atletico - Barca game and count how many chances Atletico created! If you create enough you will eventually score most of the time, but if you just create a couple of chances then you will only score once in a while when it matters, it's nothing different from Moyes' Everton = midtable = our position this year in the league. No surprise at all!

Same as always.

Defensively world class preparation, attacking wise doesn't know anything apart from long ball.

Just get ride.

I don't think it's fair to 'blame' Moyes for this loss because well, Bayern have a better team than we do. That being said, you can't praise him for his tactics being 'spot on' either, it's just the same basic two banks of four and a pacey striker that the visionary Sam Allerdyce uses every week.

Can't fault him too much, SAF played Rooney in an even worse situation against the same opposition in 2010 and likely cost us our league campaign because of that. His tactics were good and he played a positive formation and players, we just haven't got the quality to take control of the game in midfield and fullbacks who can go through an entire game making minimal mistakes.

The same team with those areas addressed could do something but he's clearly not capable of making an average side play above their weight class. You can see that quality in a top level manager like Ferguson, Mourinho, Rodgers, Martinez or Klopp and he's clearly a tier below that. I don't know if its a motivation issue or just the ambition not being there to do challenge the status quo when you know you're the inferior team.

I honestly don't get how people can have so much belief in Moyes, it's absolutely baffling to me. Bayern dominated us possession wise in both games and just stuck three past us. At no point did we seriously worry them and we are out of the competition. Yet people on here are praising Moyes? utter, utter madness.

The mans never achieved anything of note in his career and in his first season here has dropped us lower than we've been in decades and yet some people are fanatic in their support for him. It's worse than the scousers were with Dalglish and he was a club legend. It's unbelievable.

Can anyone explain this mad faith they have in Moyes?

It's just another match showing the manager and everyone in the board that we need to stop sleeping during transfer windows and start building serious feckin team... like Bayern did. They already signed Lewandowski while there's nothing solid going from the United camp so far when United is in bigger need of signings.

It's not looking good for Moyes.

Huh? How many goals have we conceeded against City & Liverpool this season?

Wow Shreeves coming straight out and basically asking him if he thinks he'll be sacked now.

David Moyes
Our focus now is getting a team that can get us back in his competition.
We have a team that's capable of it, you Sir are the problem, not the team.

It's just another match showing the board that the manager isn't good enough for this level and the sooner they get rid of him the better.

Wow! We will try to get 4th next season.

7th in the PL. That should be enough.

SACK HIM.

I've maintained my stance that he should get until Christmas next season but I'm starting to waiver on that now. It's not really to do with tonight, I actually think his tactics were sound and his team selection was what I would've picked, it's just I don't really believe he's the man to make us competitive again. We did well tonight but I hate the way we play, we may be weaker than in previous years but we've still got good players who are capable of doing far more than what they are doing. Aside from seemingly lacking the charisma to motivate some of the players and the authority to take charge of the bigger names (Kagawa probably would've been out for Van Persie if he was fit at the expense of the unit) but he doesn't seem to be a particularly dynamic or innovative coach.

The style of football is ugly and he's shown no nous to alter a game by either changing the system or making substitutions. Bringing on Hernandez with 10 minutes to go and shoving Rooney back whenever we're struggling is not a dynamic, positive move, it's just moving one of our best players (albeit he was hopeless tonight) deeper so he can't be decisive and means we have someone up front who is brilliant at sniffing out a chance but can't hold the ball up and is average technically.

Moyes appears to be openly admitting to tapping up in the post-match interview. Good stuff Dave.

If Moyes was a player, we'd be accusing him of either being the manager's son or having something on the manager to keep playing.

Didn't defend himself too much after he was asked if he'd still be in the job after failing to qualify for next years CL.

It's still mind blowing saying it.....he's failed to finish in the top 4 after spending £70m and managing the reigning PL champions. Disgrace.

Yeah, I was surprised he didn't defend himself there. Found it very odd!

I thought he didn't look 100% certain about him staying in his job either. Basically just said this question is not for me. Can't read much into it really. Could be out of confidence, could be out of uncertainty.

Carrick talks about winning the title next year. Moyes talks about getting 4th. Spot the difference.

(Doesn't excuse the fact that Carrick is currently very, very shit at football).

Any decent solicitor would have put a clause in his contract that no CL football will provide the opportunity to the employer to cancel the contract without penalty. We live in hope.

He knows his no CL qualifying sack clause is about to be activated, he's only hope is an Arse-Eve capitulation...

He's been pretty confident this season whenever he has been asked about his position but he wasn't there. Maybe he knows something we don't, but I doubt he'll get sacked.
