Moyes So Far!

Do you guys think that Moyes is starting Mata-Kagawa and playing with this successful system because he figured something out or because injuries have forced him to?

I'm not intending to bash Moyes with this question.

Injuries. Still starts Young.

City have won at United three years on the trot without as much as getting out of second gear.

To be fair we already had the league in the bag last year when they beat us 2-1, they were fired up and playing for pride i suspect had we needed a result we would have got one.

What about the away record under Sir Alex? :smirk:

You're entitled to defend Moyes, but please just don't besmirch Sir Alex whilst you're at it.

99% of teams are going to lose to Bayern away. The improvement for me has come in the way we're now comfortably beating sides who we should, admittedly, be beating anyway.

This performance, the performance against Villa, the one against West Ham, they're unrecognizable from the rock bottom that was United 2 - 2 Fulham.

Our performances against teams in the bottom half of the table is the best in the league (as of this morning anyway), teams we should be beating. Our problems have come against playing good teams.

Granted Newcastle's position is technically top half of the table, but they were pretty pants today. Not sure this told us anything radically new.

Still, credit where its due, Moyes found a way for kagawa and mata to work, for 90 mins at least. Hope he sticks with them for the last five games.

Seems like the fringe guys plus Mata can do a job, at least against a struggling team (Newcastle have lost six of there last nine matches). But you can only beat what is put in front of you, and they did it handsomely away from home.
Two league games in a row we have scored 4 goals, and conceded just one. Too little too late for this season but better than getting beat and breaking more unwanted records.

I love how you've conveniently deleted the first four years of Ferguson's tenure in one sentence.

In your post you mentioned that SAF won titles by losing to the likes of City and Liverpool but smashing the 'also rans', ignoring the record that Moyes has currently against the top 10 versus what a SAF title winning side would've had.

This is what I meant by 'never'. SAF's first four seasons don't come into it as we didn't win the title in those years.

If Moyes had lost to Liverpool and City but had a better record against the other top 10 sides I don't think there would be much cause to complain because we'd be much higher up in the table and as you say, it's happened in the past as well. It's all those results aggregated together that works against Moyes.

FWIW, Moyes deserves praise because he's gotten most things spot on this week. I just think your arguments supporting him are flawed.

Not holding my breath tbh. Everyone should now see what works best except Moyes. So let's see

After Chelsea's result today, we have no chance of winning the league mathematically. Of course we were never going to win it but when was the last time we were out of sight so soon?

Not holding my breath and he's got a shit haircut!!!

Clutching at straws today to have a go at him :D
Was pretty glorious, wasn't it? I haven't seen his post match interview - was there nothing in that you could work with?

Could be 2005? We finished 18pts behind Chelsea that season.

This recent run of good results must be a real kick in the tits for the Moyes out Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime. Not only does it make it even more obvious he will still be here next season, but some of the football has been half decent, so you can't even knock him for that.

I know it will be impossible for many to give Moyes any credit for these results and you will probably blame weak opposition, players playing for themselves etc, but take out the City result and we have looked a steady side of late. You can only beat what's in front of you.

We played some sexy football today. Moyes deserves credit for that

Our away form in the league has certainly been a massive positive this season.
That's another comfortable win to nil. Great stuff. Especially with players injured or rested.

Wonder if over the next 5 league games it'll become massively obvious he'll have to make a huge decision over VP.

I forget which game it was but you coming out with "look at his smug fecking face" after one of our defeats had me in hysterics.

Awh yeah I remember that....It was after Stoke beat us 2-1...The infamous "got to the byline" and "don't know what I have to do to win" interview.

He kept smiling and laughing through the interview and I posted "What the f**k is he smiling at?!?!?!"

I remember a page full of laughing smileys....I got so angry that I was about to quote them all, "What the f**k are you all laughing at?!?!"

If we'd been playing like that all season but were fighting out a tricky 4th/5th battle, I'd have been a lot more positive in this thread.

You know, the first question that popped into everyone's mind at the pub was: "Why did David Moyes not see earlier what those 2-3 players (Mata, Januzaj, Kagawa) can do together with so much footballing intelligence? We could have won a lot more points by now."

I tip my hat off to Moyes about today. I hope for his own sake that he will continue playing our creative players together while not being afraid of giving them the reins to bail United out of jail.

That was the one. I was close.

I think this may have been where your status as the unofficial leader of 'Moyes Out' had its origins.

I'm unsure if the attractive football has come as a result of Moyes' tactics or as a result of the players he selected, I'd probably side with the latter. Anyway, great result and great football. Good weekend.

Great, let's all celebrate moving into 6th place in the table.

Fact is, it's too little too late.

He'll still be sacked in the summer. A few decent end of season performances when the pressure is off won't change that.

It's just so great it took him 33 games to realize that putting in a front 4 with good footballing intelligence would give you good football and a good result. Well done to Moyes for figuring out his team after 8 months. Let's just hope to god he doesn't revert back to Young and Valencia on either flank, ever.

it was a great game Cal. I loved every second of it.
On its own there is little wrong, except starting Young. But then he kept Kagawa on for a full 90min when we'll definitely need him on Wed especially when he claims that Rooney is a doubt.

I hope so.

Oh I was baying for his blood after January....I've calmed down to the point where I'd have a pint with him now.

Btw, why was everyone laughing at that after the Stoke game?
It was just one of those glorious 'snap' moments where we'd been reading your posts, watching them get more and more intense, until that, when you sounded like you were about to punch your screen.

You're too positive. WUM.

Damned if I do, Damned if I dont

I was 100% honest in that post. I loved what I saw and if Moyes can repeat that on a regular basis I wouldnt mind if the clubs gives him a second try (as long as SAF monitors the deals and stop him from doing something stupid like spending another 27m on an average midfielder ;)

I hope he doesn't screw up

I just want a manager who deserves to manage this club based on his credentials and experience rather than his nationality :(

I was laid out in bed with a hangover....Could not move!...I saw his interview and I went berserk...So yeah, you're right!
Moyes got me to move more from a different country then he can Fellaini

Exactly, like I've said many times, I don't think qualifying for the CL would have been an unreasonable target last May, so I'm standing by that.

If he somehow wins the CL (I'd be delighted) or wins all the remaining games and magically make Arsenal capitulate, I'd agree he should have 1 more season.

That's the best point made after today's game. We could have won more points by now if he realized it much sooner. The most important for him now is to not fall back into old habits.

That's what makes me doubt the man so much. Hopefully he sticks with players that are actually capable of passing and moving for the rest of the season now. It's just the fact it took him so long to realize this that has me uneasy
