Moyes So Far!

He has to trust his more technically gifted players as it's only with them that the club will get better. Hopefully today will have contributed to him opening his eyes to what's been obvious to most.

His reserve team plays better than the dross he usually picks. You can bet none of Kagawa, Januzaj and Nani will start against Bayern but Valencia and Young will.

You're right. Watching great football and witnessing 0-4 wins every week would be awful.

Couldn't think of anything worse.
Watching us get trashed by BOTH City and Liverpool twice a season is indeed awful.

Dare I say that, the City and Liverpool games aside*, we've improved in recent weeks? We are now comfortably beating the sides we should be beating, while scoring goals to boot, and that wasn't always the case earlier in the season. Then there was obviously a very good result against Bayern as well.

If you were that way inclined - and I suppose I am - you could see it as a small sign of progress.

* Although it's a pretty fecking big 'aside', i'll grant you.

The football has been far better, the team looks like it knows what it wants to do and can executive it. Less of Young and Valencia has helped, and now also the injury to RVP and then Rooney. We're simply a better team when Rooney isn't in that number 10 position.

Whether we can take it to another level is a big question, as so far we haven't. Another is what happens with Rooney and RVP back. If we return to the old Rooney behind RVP, it won't last. But it's a huge call to do that.

Basically this, remember the performance before the Olympiakos (A) debacle?

Well, perhaps we can have a bit of faith in Moyes to be good enough to juggle them. The complete lack of faith in him so far is understandable given our league position, but as i've said, we maybe are now seeing some small shoots of genuine improvement. :)

Fergie did it regularly, yet hammered the also-rans, which made us champions.

I'd settle for that from Moyes.

Actually you'd find the Sir Alex has never ever managed United to lose to both City and Liverpool home and away in one single season.

Also, aren't we still 7th?

If we'd been playing like that all season but were fighting out a tricky 4th/5th battle, I'd have been a lot more positive in this thread.

Instead I'm just vaguely annoyed about all the other matches we played

Dead game before a key game, we see a great performance, do you remember the game before Olympiakos away? :nervous:

I feel the same, I enjoyed the match, the performance and the result. I'll never be convinced that our football couldn't have been better this season and this despite the injuries.

No, he didn't. We never lost both games against both City and Pool, let alone be trashed. The only trashing I remember from them were 1-6 against City and 1-4 against Pool.

Anyway, today was almost magnificient. Kagawa-Mata partnership on today's tactics give me hope for a better future.

We'd easily be ahead of Arsenal.

I know that. Stop being pedantic.

Ferguson regularly lost to Liverpool and City (heavy pastings, too) yet was given a free pass from fans. Moyes replicates many performances from Ferguson's latter years yet he's portrayed as an incompetent arsehole who doesn't deserve a job at our club.

The rhetoric is just tiresome now, and I abhor challenging the 'Moyes Out' mantra.

99% of teams are going to lose to Bayern away. The improvement for me has come in the way we're now comfortably beating sides who we should, admittedly, be beating anyway.

This performance, the performance against Villa, the one against West Ham, they're unrecognizable from the rock bottom that was United 2 - 2 Fulham.

We regularly got beaten handsomely by City and Liverpool at home?

We definitely have seen them. We've seen them before the City and Liverpool matches as well, that's kind of the problem.

The problem is that Moyes is replicating the losses without replicating the wins, remember the away wins at City, Chelsea and Liverpool last season?

Ultimately this is a results business and no matter how you try to spin it, 7th or even if he somehow gets us up to 5th, simply isn't good enough.

I'm not even talking about the result come Wednesday, we'll see at 1845 if Moyes has any clue whatsoever.

Ferguson never had the record against top teams that Moyes has this year.
Liverpool fan leaping to the defence of Sir Alex. :o
6th I believe. Spurs have a game in hand but they have been abysmal recently.
Wow, new contract for Moyes. 6th!!!!!! Europea qualifying round if Arsenal win the FA Cup.
Hmm. If every team played like Newcastle and didn't care, maybe.
Is it so ludicrous to suggest we would have won a few of all those home games we lost/drew against the likes of Newcastle and Fulham, etc...

Nonsense.

Moyes hasn't struggled just against Liverpool and City, he's stuggled against pretty much every top 10 side (apart from today). Ferguson never had that type of record. Oh and he's struggled against some 'also rans' as well.

No united manager ever has never mind Fergie, that is a distinction that moyes shares alone in the clubs 136 year managerial history.

I have the Red Cafe tab open pretty much every minute I'm online, but I wasn't actively using the site at the time. I was doing some work at home whilst watching the match on the laptop, but cheers for looking out for me.

:p.

Didnt mean any offence mate. Relax.

Depressing but probably correct, though i suspect Kagawa might just squeeze in if rooney is injured.

Do you guys think that Moyes is starting Mata-Kagawa and playing with this successful system because he figured something out or because injuries have forced him to?

I'm not intending to bash Moyes with this question.
