Moyes So Far!

That was a best April Fools day, David... On a serious note - Well Done ! ! !

We want to see more of that.

Credit for tonight, set up the team well to contain Bayern.

Got it right. If he proves me wrong I'll be happy and I'll admit it, every single time.

Opinion hasn't changed.

Good at stopping other teams play. But not so great setting up teams to win.

Except that we're playing a fecking juggernaut of a team that steamrolls opposition. He not only stopped them, his high press tactics paid off quite a bit in giving us a chance.

He revels in setting a team up as massive underdogs that's why, so no surprise we did ok tonight. Fair play, the team did him proud.

Actually helped us parking the bus today. Not something we have been able to do this season. I think this is the best kind of game for him where we are not expected to go for it. That underdog mentality kicks in and he does what he is best at, setting up a team to absorb pressure for 90 minutes. Fair fecks to him. It worked. Had Welbeck taken his chance, we would have been in an even better position in this tie.

He's earnt a stay of execution. Still doesn't fill me with confidence with regards to his ability to spend money wisely, but fair fecks tonight. I do feel we were fortunate this Bayern team does not like to shoot!

David Moyes has matched Pep Guardiola tactically.

Never thought I'd write that fecking sentence.

I think that Pep is happy with the result. He will be less happy with losing Javi and Bastian.

Don't like to see us play like that and I had a good moan in the first 20 minutes, but fair fecks to him, he got us a result tonight.

Saved his skin a little bit longer, fair fecks to the guy because the team seemed up to the task tonight; first time I have seen that against a top side this season.

Ballsy performance. Exceeded my expectation. He still picked the wrong first 11 as Kagawa's introduction showed IMO.

Fair fecks to him; he's done well tonight.
This has become a 'nothing' phrase, as someone writes it after each win or decent result we get. Of course he can't feck it up every time - how could he? He's actually got some decent players at his disposal, whether the ginger goblin wants to admit it or not.

I'll hold back my praise for the man until he actually delivers results and performances over a period of time. Until then I'll just assume that the players aren't shite enough to embarrass themselves against the opposing team every single time.

That's the kind of faith I have in Moyes after this travesty of a season. He's fecking shite.

Yup, can have no complaints about that at all. We now have to go and score two in Germany, so his approach to that will be interesting.

I think facing Bayern suits Moyes' style to be honest. We were the Everton to Bayern's Man Utd. Not a dig, but just a thought. If we'd defended that way against Barcelona in those two finals, who'd have guessed what'd happened, eh?

The first good thing tactically wise he has done this year. If he hadn't played Fellaini we could have even won, but still, fair play to him.

I think he's in his comfort zone in a match like that. No real expectation to go for it and get his win and thought we set up very well.

Huh? Defend deep and try to nick one is a much better idea than trying to draw 2-2

Perhaps it was a situation Moyes actually understands, much better opposition who will have the ball so being defensive is understandable, but fair fecks to him he could have royally screwed it up but he didn't. Giggs was a risky choice that could have paid off and has done in the past but didn't tonight. At least he replaced him early this time, especially as his subs have been one of his biggest flaws this season.

He got it spot on tonight in fairness. They only equalised because of an error from Fellaini. They created next to nothing otherwise.
Right tactics but first 11 still messed up kind of, fair fecks for him to fix it at half though.

Defensively world class tactical preparation.

Attacking wise, not so much. We were left to hoof the ball up until Kagawa can on and we created some chances.

Kind of resembling the Arsenal away game.

I thought Fellaini did alright second half, all told. Shocking first half though

I doubt Fergie would have done anything different. Got to give him credit today. Extra points for getting away with playing Fellaini against the best team in Europe.

Moyes got the tactics right but should have put Fletcher on in place of Fellani. I was pleased to see the champions ( who even Fergie would struggle with this year apparently) playing with heart, determination and resilience. Only the new boy didn't turn up.

Weird, I must've just assumed they'd score by default. Then yes, more of the same next time out it is.

A scouser on Reddit wrote a really good post before this game:

I just realized...this is the type of game Moyes is used to making tactics for. A heavy underdog who will be happy to escape with a 0-0 draw and trying to get a lucky victory. His problem this year has been the expectations, but he knows how to pull a surprise win. All his years at Everton trained him for this.

More shots on target than they did. You don't get that against Bayern without an attacking plan.

To be fair, the last two times we faced Pep, Fergie did things very differently.

This would feel really good if we didn't all know that Moyes will then go and feck it up against Newcastle at the weekend...

Not from me; getting a draw against Bayern is a superb result under the circumstances and disparity between the two squads.

When the draw was made, I said it's the kind of game Moyes is best at because it's all he knows - being the hard-to-beat underdog who sets up shop to stifle the opposition first and foremost, but for us to execute a plan and actually come away with a result, is impressive no matter which way it's sliced.

He's ruined us in the league, but I'll isolate domestic football and give him credit for the CL now that we're competitive going into the second leg against a Bayern Munich side some people had us losing to by the biggest aggregate score the competition has ever seen.

It's amazing. One good performance from the inept one crosses out all of the woeful ones for some.

I'd rather we play reserves against Newcastle. Keep everyone fresh.
