Moyes So Far!

True, but people need to drop this routine win rubbish, there's no such thing at the moment.
People are mentioning routine wins because under Ferguson, the likes of Aston Villa or West Ham should be routine wins, but it says so much about how far standards have dropped under Moyes that a win against West Ham was praised to the heavens.

How can people still defend moyes.... Half of the caf could have managed a 4-1 win over villa???? What tactical master stroke does he bring to any table....

This has been an epic fail...... Should have known after his comical bidding on Fellaini and baines and then actually spending more on Fellaini had he not purchase him after a certain date..... After that his whole managerial campaign has belonged on the comedy channel
Calm down deary. You'll probably get another chance to have a rant on Tuesday.

People need to get over it, Fergie's gone and he's not coming back, and neither is another 20 years of dominance no matter who the manager is.

Again he has carried himself with dignity during the post-match interview. Some of his words are getting taking way out of context but for me he carries himself very well. I really want him to succeed and I think he will.

How much you're willing to bet, next season we are challenging title? Bet goes to the Caf.

There have been times when I feel he's slowly molding us into something he can work with, which combined with 3-4 world class players this summer, could result in a complete turnaround. He just has to hang on this year.

Remember he finished 17 at Everton in his first year and took them to 4th the next.

Come one Raoul. I don't remember a lot from his Everton side in their second year but if we have to go out and splurge 100-150 million on new players before he can even get us to compete for the top four, what exactly does he bring tothe table which any other decent manager would not. I am not even bringing in the likes of Mourinho in here. Mancini could get us to top four with that kind of spending.

This has nothing to do with Ferguson. It's about the standards expected at United.

Get over it mate, he is not coming back

I'm against Moyes, but, let's not criticize the man on the day he won 4-1, regardless of anything else.

He should be given a break for now imo, he has bought himself a few days from any criticism, and it's up to him now to build on it and show that we really have turned a corner this time in the coming games.

You good for the money? What do you consider challenging for the title, say we finish 5th but finish 15 points behind the winners, do you consider that challenging as we would still be in it after 33 games?

Interesting. It's vaguely reassuring that someone far from exhibiting the blind faith many of us get accused of has some hope left.

Don't get me wrong. He's been a massive flop thus far. What I'm looking for is a glimmer of hope that he is remolding us into a squad that suits his management style. There is such a glimmer, but again, one step forward two steps back needs to stop and he needs to figure out how to take the benefit of a win like today's and instill an ethos and swagger that allows us to do it consistently.

But....we're playing Bayern. It is Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola, are you seriously expecting anything? I wouldn't be expecting anything even if we had SAF.

It appears Moyes has convinced enough fans that this squad is ageing and it really is Fergie's fault we're struggling this season. Was following this on BBC's commentary and a few people pointed the finger at Fergie, whilst my twitter timeline is full of ecstatic fans who reckon things are only going to get better (at least until Bayern spoil that party).

Personally, I still want him gone by the summer. He's shown nothing to demonstrate things will get better, even if we heavily invest in new players. Nothing against Moyes as a man, but as a manager he's out of his depth and, in my opinion, we're delaying the inevitable if we keep him on until next season.

It clearly has everything to do with Ferguson, as indicated by your previous post..

Everything has to be so black and white all the time doesn't it. It could never be a combination of an under par Moyes as well as an under par squad. No, it's all one or the other.

I wish all Moyes threads can be locked till the end of the season. It's as tiresome to hear over the top praise after beating a shit team as it is to hear over the top criticism after being beaten by a better team.

An end of season reflection is what needs to be done. A win against Villa and an inevitable thrashing by Bayern shouldn't be what opinions are based on, imo.

I don't blame Fergie or Moyes. But I suppose its not a stretch to make the claim that Ferdinand, Vidic, Carrick, Evra, and RvP are now all in their 30s. We definitely need some fresh blood.

Any post match quotes?

'I can resist anything except temptation.' (Oscar Wilde)

'One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.' (Nietzsche)

If Fergie's that bad, evil and everything why Moyes was gloating all summer that he's so happy with the current squad... ?

He was bullish about Manchester United's stature as a club and said everybody should fear coming to OT.

The tosser.

And some guff about wanting to reach the SFs and final of the CL.

The clown.

If we should credit him for a win against an easy team (who just lost to Stoke in similar circumstances), then we should also not give him an already prepared excuse for every poor showing against every good team, as well.

There is no excuse for that. Last year Real Madrid were favorites, and we didn't only give them a good fight, but should have knocked them out really. A good manager can make use of the (good!) pieces he has to put up a respectable fight even against the strongest teams.

Again he has carried himself with dignity during the post-match interview. Some of his words are getting taking way out of context but for me he carries himself very well. I really want him to succeed and I think he will.

I couldn't care less with whatever dignity he carries himself in interviews. Its the performances on the pitch I'll be judging him on and those have been consistently horrible, even today (despite the scoreline).

I just can't comprehend people still supporting him like today. What exactly are you praising him for, getting us from champions to 7th place, making us one of the most unwatchable teams on the planet ? Why is it that David Moyes doesn't have to earn his support like every other manager needs to at every other club ? The fact is people aren't supporting Moyes they are still supporting Ferguson, seeing Moyes as an extension of him. Just feels like people still can't let go and don't fully realise the situation the club is in. Our succescoach is gone and we have replaced him by the unproven David Moyes who has so far turned us into a complete mess. Yet none of it seems to be his fault and he is still getting the praise like he somehow did something to earn it, I guess that something is being chosen by Ferguson himself. If ferguson didn't pick him and if he didn't make his little speach at the end of last year, I bet you Moyes would have been firred months ago, he probably wouldn't have ever been hirred.

We are such a fecked up club, supporters signing the praise of a man who is destroying them while looking down upon clubs who fire their manager and have benefited from it.

I suppose you would have come out and publicly branded the squad shit on your first day if you weren't happy with them

He could do that... he signed 6 year contract and he can do whatever he wants now and even SAF himself stays quiet.

Why? What's the point? We've been turning corners all season, we've already seen wins, sometimes good wins (mostly against mediocre sides), but we never build on it. If we continue like that, we'll carry on with Moyes for years because we'll keep on beating the Villa's of this world and hope a corner has been turned.

I don't think anyone is truly bothered whether he carries himself with dignity in post match interviews. He has deliberately tugged at the heart strings of supporters in order to keep them onside, with barely concealed charm offensives in just about every pre or post match interview. He is attempting to encourage sympathy when he really doesn't deserve any. All the clapping and waving is ridiculous.....it's like there is this notion that "yes he's proving to be an utter failure.....but he's our utter failure and we appreciate he fails with that air of dignity." Even that wears thin eventually.

Dignity in failure is not what I want to associate with a Manchester United manager I'm afraid.

Agreed we need fresh blood, but I don't think the age of the squad is a legitimate excuse for our struggles this year. Vidic and Ferdinand are past their best, but I don't think the others are that old that their age is a reason for our struggles this year. If anything, Moyes should point the finger at unfortunate and untimely injuries as a reason for the struggles, rather than going on about how old the players are.

Everything has to be so black and white all the time doesn't it. It could never be a combination of an under par Moyes as well as an under par squad. No, it's all one or the other.

I think most of us realize the weaknesses of the squad and while some may thing we could have been challenging for the title with it, most would be satisfied with far less. We just want to get the best out of it and he's been nowhere near.

We're not blind, we don't think we're as good as Bayern.

We just won 4-1. The Moyes out brigade should be happy about that, rather than having a go at him.

I'm happy. But it changes nothing. This morning a lot of us were angry with him for his quotes yesterday and today's match doesn't erase it.

I'm tired of having a contrasting opinion than some for today and especially as those opinions are going against fellow reds. He isn't destroying the club as we will always stand up next to the tallest of giants and never be in their shadow, quite the opposite. We can only judge him fully in the truest of time. Good win today and he showed his salt by coming out first to face the reaction. Credit where credit is due.

You need to stop following Joey Barton.
