Moyes So Far!

A penalty and a free kick say little about managerial genius to me.

We needed to win by three clear goals to go through. We did that. The manager deserves some credit for that. If we had failed to qualify he'd be getting the blame. We've qualified. He deserves some credit.

Changes nothing really. Happy for him, he seems like a hard working person, but the fact that we beat Olympiacos means nothing. We beat the weakest team in the CL, a team who regularly get beat by 5. We should never have been in that position in the first place.

Exactly. He gets over the top praise for achieving what should have been a requirement.

Sack the snooty mug at the end of the season. Too much damage has been dealt. It was cnuting Olympiakos at Old Trafford ffs. We didn't beat Bayern at Allianz or Madrid at Bernabeu. And no managerial genius was on display today. Just individual brilliance. Talk about lowering of expectations.

If he tried to play attacking football constantly he may have a chance here, but on 65 minutes we were sitting back, against a decent team we would have conceded.

Don't want to put a dampener on the performance, we played well, but again we didn't go for the kill when we had the chance.

Harsh as it may be, it will take winning the CL to change my mind about giving him time.

Deserves credit for tonight though, obviously.

Great result, wasn't a great performance and just some perspective on who it was against.

Telling that there were no songs for Moyes tonight.

It hasn't been for a couple or games or so.

Anyway, we started very good today, eager to play and to score. Then after we scored the third goal, we become a typical Moyes team again, defending for our lifes.

Still in the end, job well done. Despite the opponent, it was a tough game and the players and the manager did well enough.

Standard good performance amongst about 5 bad ones.

Still, it felt like our players remembered to play today.

And Moyes was seen on the line shouting at them to push up. The players sitting back was down to their own nervousness.

Just saying, but if we changed managers now we might get a boost and win the thing!

Seriously though can't have been an easy few days for him, was a good reaction to the horror show on Sunday.

King for a day...

Got his shit together and in Champions League every 3:0 win is a great result. Well Done.

Exactly. We did this time and time again under SAF too where we just stopped playing after taking the lead. It's something ingrained in this team and will take Moyes time to change.

Fair play but I truly don't know how much Moyes even had to do with this result. This was all about the players from minute one there were certain players who clearly had a point to prove and they performed to the level they should have been playing. Not the best performance overall but by far the most entertaining of the season.

Still rather have Mauricio Roberto Pochettino, but Moyes has deserved another mid season with this result. There are obviously holes in our team and hopefully he can address it come this summer.
I don't want to piss on anyone's parade, this win is as much to do with the players and the fans as it has Moyes, but you seriously think winning this game buys him another half a season? I don't.

What the feck are you talking about? They've just won their domestic league. In March.

They also qualified from their group ahead of Benfica (who've just schooled Spurs at White Hart Lane last week) and just behind PSG, a team who many rank as the 3rd/4th best team in Europe at present.

Cut the fúcking bullshit. Tonight was a marvellous result. To know you need to win 3-0 in order to progress and then going ahead and achieving it is no mean feat.

Give the man some due.

The fighting spirit in the players won it for us today more than being tactically superior. Prolonging the inevitable, but glad to see us show something positive.

Make a change then, it's happened on a regular occurrence this season, if it was a one off I'd understand.

To be fair to Moyes, he did say to the team first thing on Monday that the fans at Old Trafford deserved something back after the amazing support they gave the players against Liverpool. That probably hit a bit of a nerve with them. Perhaps he's learning a bit of motivation!

I hope he can turn it around and end the season on a high but the believe isn't fully there considering that we usually played shit after we had good games. Also the negativity in the second half was unnecessary imo. we could have gotten that fourth goal easily I reckon, they looked so shaky at the back tonight but in the end in all played out so I'm happy for the time being.

Don't want to be too critical but tonight sort of highlights his problem IMO.

He's far too safe. When we were chasing the game we were excellent however as soon as we took the lead we became too defensive IMO. If it was a team better than Olympiakos they'd have punished us.

Perhaps we should approach every game and moment like we are 2-0 down.

Progressing against Olympiakos is really par for the course in this job. It was a good performance set against the dross we've served up this season. Let's see what happens next.

It'll be interesting how the narrative changes after this. Will it be Moyes saves United? Surely you can't get credit for a recovery when you're responsible for the crash itself.

We've been stung a few times in the dying minutes this season, so the nervousness is understandable.

It was because Olympiakos started attacking at 3-0 down...they had a lot of pace in behind, if we hadn't dropped back a little Campbell would have punished us. Plus, when he noticed we were dropping back too much he encouraged us to push up a bit.

The pressure we invited wasn't down to Moyes. He was urging the team to go up the field, they just ignored him.

We're so used to sitting back it'll take time for Moyes to fix that. And players, it'll take a few new players.

They could have easily scored two or three before we became "defensive." A better team would have killed us today.

It doesn't change anything about the way I feel, but he'll get a better night's sleep tonight. Good on him.

If that's a bounce back performance, let's hope we lose all the league games till the CL QF

More or less the same. One good result does not a manager make.

Good job though, if only he had done it in every match leading up to today.

Moyes has yet to address the holes in our team. He deserve the opportunity to at least replace the aging and inefficient players he was given. Moyes was given a team that needed immediate changes and he failed to do that last summer and winter due to circumstances like not having the right players available and/or wanting to analyze the type of players he had. Come this summer, I would believe he would make these quality addition and things will be much better.

Even though I despise his philosophy, he has the correct work ethic and passion for a United manager.

I hope the fact that we had to get 3 goals today opened Moyes' eyes to the fact that we're allowed to go for more than 1 goal per game.

Yep. Still think he's doomed but I can't help but feel glad he got a bit of a repreive, the pressure he's under is pretty bad.
