Moyes So Far!

It is. I was laughing at people who were worried about our pre season performances...
I'm by know way gloating as this is worth than I ever imagined the season could go, I just always felt Moyes wasn't the right man and those early performances were really bizarre at the time (now we just expect them).

He wasn't someone I even thought would be considered and while early on I was worried, more become of the way he acted and talked rather than the football, It took me a while to catch on. Everton and especially Newcastle in December made me realize.

The really sad thing about all this is I can see us getting through midweek and that just prolonging the hope that things will turn round... I don't want to lose, but if going out with a bad performance means Golem is sacked I'll take it.

No....The sad thing is what the other teams will do to us in the next round

We won't get through, we aren't good enough.

I wonder if there's any truth to the rumours that he has fallen out with Giggs?

Could well be true. There's a sneaky little comment that Giggs before Christmas, that mostly went under the radar as far as I know, which basically implied that he thought we were shit. It was at the Class of 92 interview session. It was a comment made in jest, but the delivery of it just seemed like things weren't all rosy.

“It’s difficult to explain it,” Moyes said. “I felt as if the players were in good shape and good fettle going into this game

I swear he says something similar after every disappointing result.

A win against West Brom after a really bad loss to olympiakos isn't what you'd call being being in good shape.

I feel like a total hypocrite after slagging off every other club for sacking managers quickly but i am gradually entering the "Moyes out" camp. Its genuinely depressing watching United at the moment, not only because we are losing but simply because i look desperately for every positive and convince myself that we have reached a turning point only then for the next game to be a horrendous performance.

Manchester United 0 Liverpool 3: Five areas in which it's all gone wrong for David Moyes

Mark Ogden analyses the fallout from Old Trafford after another chastening defeat for the Premier League champions

By Mark Ogden

NO RETURN ON SIGNINGS:

Moyes has invested £65m on Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata as United manager, but he has been unable to get the best from either of them.

Fellaini is too slow and one-dimensional, while Mata’s seven games have generated nothing. The Spaniard was fortunate to start this game ahead of Danny Welbeck.

PREDICTABLE TACTICS:

Under Moyes, United have become incredibly predictable.
Holding midfielders stay behind then ball and it is usually then played to the flanks for the full-backs to cross into the penalty area.

Despite the talents of Mata, Wayne Rooney and Adnan Januzaj, hardly anything goes through the middle of the pitch.

TOUCHLINE BODY LANGUAGE:

Moyes rarely looks calm and composed on the touchline and his agitated presence offers little but an expression of panic to his players.

Brendan Rodgers, even before Liverpool took the lead, was all about encouragement and trust and his team performed with the belief that had been infused by their manager.

WRONG TO OVERLOOK GIGGS:

United lack composure on the ball, which makes it surprising that Ryan Giggs has now mustered just 81 minutes on the pitch in the last ten weeks.

Giggs may be 40, but his performances early this season showed little sign of ageing legs.

Moyes needs to trust the Welshman just as Sir Alex Ferguson did, especially in games like this when possession is crucial.

CORNERS:

Many fans have become bewildered by Moyes’s tactic of refusing to leave a forward up-front when defending corners.

When the ball is cleared, two spare defenders then have time to play it back into danger.

Conversely, Liverpool deployed Daniel Sturridge to stand on the halfway line when defending United corners and he therefore kept two defenders busy.

Steven Gerrard scored two penalties and hit the post with a third - for which Nemanja Vidic was sent off - before Luis Suarez finally put United out of its misery.

Moyes had issues with some of the decisions made by referee Mark Clattenburg, not least Liverpool's third penalty and Glen Johnson's handball which went unpunished, but had the good grace to accept his side was out-played - something increasingly disgruntled United fans will not like hearing.

"We didn't play well, Liverpool deserved their victory," said the Scot after a ninth league defeat of the season and a fifth at home.

"Some decisions were correct, some were incorrect. but overall I'm disappointed.

"It is difficult to explain it."

This season United has won just once against clubs in the top nine and Moyes said that was obviously something that had to change.

"That tells you we're not doing as well as we should be. We have to play better and make ourselves harder to beat, harder to play against and we are also going to have to make sure we are creating and taking more opportunities," he said.

"We have a lot to do to do both those things. I think the job was always going to be hard. Yes, it is harder (than I thought) I would say so."

Following Ferguson was never going to be easy but the way Moyes is conducting himself is almost the opposite of his predecessor.

Counterpart Brendan Rodgers was taken aback the Red Devils boss played the underdog card in his pre-match press conference.

"I was probably surprised when I heard we were supposedly coming to Old Trafford here as favourites," said the Liverpool manager.

"I would never say that at Liverpool - even if I was bottom of the league."

Moyes tried to justify his pronouncement by saying: "I just thought Liverpool were above us in the league and playing well and I thought any average person would have said the same thing."

The United boss felt Liverpool's second - just a minute after the break - changed the complexion of the game.

"I thought the real turning moment was the second penalty just after half-time," he added.

"To lose that made it dificult for us. There wasn't a great deal in it at half-time.

"There was a handball from Glen Johsnon in a similar position (to where Rafael was penalised for the opening spot-kick) which wasn't given. Nevertheless I can't have any qualms about it.

"There were quite a few decisions but I won't speak about it, it seems the best way to go about it. Us managers are better not commenting on decisions in games.

"I felt the players looked in good shape going into it. We just didn't quite get to the standards required to beat Liverpool today.

"I've said it all week I've seen confident and well-motivated and hard-working players.

"I think goals change games very quickly. We didn't start as well as we liked but I thought we started to grow into the game and the penalty kick changed that in the first half."

Fecking embarassing

Was Sir Alex Ferguson's selection of David Moyes his biggest mistake at Manchester United? http://metro.co.uk/2014/03/16/was-s...biggest-mistake-at-manchester-united-4609697/

"It is believed that on hearing he had been overlooked for the post of succeeding Ferguson that Jose Mourinho burst into tears, right now the vast majority of United supporters must be sharing his frustration that the Special One was not named as the Chosen One too."

I am also still in tears....

Sacking Moyes now wouldn't accomplish much. Best to do it at the end of the season, but start the new search now and definitely don't let him spend any summer funds.

I wouldn't be surprised if the board decide to sack Moyes within the next two or three weeks, if they haven't already, but we won't hear anything of it until May. If that's the case, I hope they're already talking with potential replacements.

This made me

I struggle to see how anybody with their head screwed on correctly could see us winning titles with Moyes at the helm. We can literally bring in ten world class players this summer and he'd still manage a 7th place finish. He's ridiculously out of his depth at United. You can only laugh at this stage.

Fecking embarassing

Oh my fecking god! when will he (and how long does he require to learn) be acting/behaving like he's a boss of one of the biggest clubs on earth and that he has a team of champions to manage? He acted (talked) as if he was still managing everton! God please help me. I need to stay away from reading the Monday newspaper.

Will our matchgoing fans audibly turn on him to the extent that Liverpool fans turned on Hodgson or Chelsea fans turned on Benitez in the beginning?

If yes, how bad does it have to get for that to happen? I don't think we're far away. A loss to Olympiacos and/or City will probably do it.

It's commendable that it hasn't happened already, but it's getting to the point where it might be necessary to speak up where the people who make the decisions can hear us.

Having Giggsy as caretaker in the meantime will do better than keeping him. Giggsy has winning mentality and has his medals cabinet to prove it. Any players in the team have won less than him so he can exert his authority and do a better job than Moyes. Let's fecking do it till summer when we can get a proper manager ready for us.

It'll give the whole club generally a better feel about it, we could get a deal with somebody like Van Gaal sooner rather then risk losing him to Spurs, and we'd have a chance to get a few better results until the end of the season, for pride if nothing else. We might even get past Olympiacos if he gets sacked and put up a fight against City compared to the inevitable elimination and then embarrassment like today (maybe even worse really). Confidence all around the place is rock bottom and I think everyone has lost faith in themselves under Moyes.

I don't know which thread I should put this so as to let as many people as possible watch this ranting. Moyes has no idea the importance of our game v Liverpool surely!

And this man is right about Moyes not being man united quality

Should probably read the front page first..

Moyes is so far gone now, it's a giant clusterfeck that has too much momentum to fix IMO. It feels like he's lost the players and there's no coming back from it.

Really? Who gives a feck who wins the title this season, Liverpool more then likely won't win it anyways. Just care about ourselves, and of course we want to win every game. Especially at home against Manchester City, give us something to remember this season by at the very least, end it on a high note, send a message that if Moyes leaves and we put in a good performance, we'll come back strongly next season.

It also helps Chelsea out if anything to win the title, so there's the little bonus if you really care.
