Moyes So Far!

He's such a tedious boring man. The same cliched nonsense recycled every week. Show him the door please.

What else do you want him to say?

I'd take you whiners a lot more serious if you actually complained about legitimate stuff.
There's nothing else he can say, I'm far from Moyes biggest fan but I see nothing wrong with what he said there.

Its easy to spot the posters on here that are so consumed with hatred for Moyes that they can't see the wood for the trees anymore.

I agree, I firmly believe that Moyes isn't the right man to manage Manchester United, but that doesn't mean I think he's a bad manager, he's not, he's got a good record, just not good enough for us. Saying that I'd still love him to prove me wrong, and I genuinely mean that.
In the letter he admits that he hasn't been good enough, I love that, he's finally shown some guts and took responsibility.

I still believe that he will be a success here, once he gets the chance to build a team in his own image. I have to take his side because I agree with a lot of the decisions he has made.

He'll inevitably improve, but it worries me to which extent people will deem it good enough.

I envisage him improving slightly over the next year or two. It'll buy him more and more time, and it could take four or five years before this time justification begins to fade. Every small cup run and step up the table will be used to depict us getting better and Moyes being the right man for the job.

Agreed. I don't know what people expect here to be honest, are they expecting his resignation to be tendered immediately? That would be stupid.

I always love optimism, so I like your post. I wish it'll happen, but nothing will happen overnight. If we don't see small changes week on week, how can we expect wholesale changes for the better in the summer? I'd love to be proven wrong like Getsme said.

That's fair enough, it's not an easy job. However I just don't see what he's brought to the club since his arrival. I appreciate it's early days, but the club seem to be lacking direction and our decline both on and off the field has been shocking to say the least.
If we fall much further I fear he will be lost in his own mess, and it could take years to sort out. A question I always ask myself is, if Moyes can't get this team playing together, why should the club trust him with another.
There is no guarantee that Moyes will get the players he wants, what's he going to do if he can't get them? My fear is he will panic and buy substandard alternatives instead. It seems we have quite a few unhappy players at the club, if they leave they have to be replaced. With £200m in his pocket and with no experience of spending big, our summer could be a bigger disaster than our season.
I've said it before, it's the biggest gamble the club have ever taken.

Or just sort it out and get fighting for trophies once again.

I doubt this season is due to him sabotaging us on purpose, the more likely scenario is that he's an inept clown completely out of his depth. So the sooner he's gone, the less damage he will do and the sooner we can get back on track.

I'm genuinely glad that I'm not one of those that just hates Moyes. I mean, if he does turn it around and stays at the club for a long time, what is it going to be like for those that just hate the guy? Supporting United will never be the same for them.
If he turns it around 99% of fans will say they supported him all along.

I don't hate him as a person, but I do hate the fact that someone who is clearly out of his depth is still given time mainly due to 2 things:

1. Sir Alex's speech in May (for the fans)
2. Some romatic United Way (TM) (for the directors)

I can't think of any reason to hate the guy. But I can think of many why he's probably not good enough for united. If he turns our a great manager I'll be the happiest guy, it's just that I don't believe he's capable of it. I don't see why anyone would have "hatred" for him to be honest. He got one of the best jobs in football, and has so far failed miserably. That's not worthy of hatred IMO. It's not as though he isn't trying.

The better question is, when he does get sacked, how many of his apologists will accept he has wasted a lot of time and money at United?

Very true, I have been firmly in his corner right up until the last couple of his recent debacles. It's become increasing difficult to have a good word to say about him, I have found myself on both sides of the fence recently but that may have something to do with no actual football being played :nervous:

What do you mean by support though? He has my support. I always want him to do well and want him to succeed with us. I'll always cheer united on under him or under any other manager. Or are you equating support to rating?

You're a better fan than me, I have completely given up on this season and if a poor run of results sees him sacked, so be it.

The same, There's many sitting on the fence already.

Football fans in general are fickle, we usually speak through our hearts instead of our brains when it comes to our club. No one should want Moyes to fail, simply because if he fails the club fails. However it's clear to see that he's damaging the club and many want him out, including me. Saying that, If he turns it around, the support for him will grow, and all the negative thoughts will become a thing of the past.

I don't hate him at all. I don't even dislike him on a personal level - I just think he's a footballing charlatan that has been found out on almost every level since taking over our club.

I also feel that the reasons he got the job show a deeply negligent and irresponsible approach from Ferguson and Charlton - this isn't Moyes' fault.

One thing I do find unpleasant is how the club have tried to turn the fanbase against the players and how Moyes has used any and every excuse possible to deflect attention away from himself.

If he turns it around and corrects what he's done to our club I will hold my hands up and state that I was totally wrong. But I don't think that will happen, because, as I stated, I believe he's a footballing charlatan who will continue being found out and falling short until the club finally decides to step in.

Well said. :)

To most of us, David Moyes has failed miserably. There was nothing from him that showed he could move this club forward. Be it trophies, the way we play football, and his man management. The only reason he still is here, and many of you suck up to him is because of Fergie's "Now your job is to stand by your manager" speech and some sort of misplaced pride in 'The United way'. Sack this man who clearly is out of depth, and save what is left of this season. Nobody in their right mind in the board should trust this man with a supposed 200million, while he can't even do a decent job with the players currently at the club.

Which decisions are they?

I have been in his corner for the large part but he's made that increasing difficult as times wore on. I am currently on the fence myself but have spent time on either side, the Fulham game, then the Palace lift made the Greek disaster feel like a massive kick in the teeth. I was as seething as any after that and what we witnessed it was probably rightly so. I have since calmed down (probably due to no actual football being played) and am prepared to see what happens during this tough run in March, this really does seem to be the month that will define his future at the club.
I can't stand the brand of football we play and his non reactive manner during games but it's difficult just to cast him on the scrap heap before a full season is out, i do have very little sympathy for the manager as he is in charge of his own destiny and if he's proven just not good enough then so be it, the club will off him.

Good post.
I'd imagine a lot of fans feel like that.
