Moyes So Far!

It should have been done at half time, he only did it when we were 2-0 down. How he could have watched that first half performance and decide to stick with what we were doing is insane, especially considering Valencia was completely hopeless as he has been for quite some time.

Also, Carrick just got a total grilling from that ITV eejit Byrne and got (wrongly) slated by Roy Keane on national television due to his interview, all because his manager wouldn't come out and face the cameras. He's the manager, he's supposed to protect his players in public, that's what good managers do.

Most cowardly thing Moyes has done yet. He never fails to amaze me - hits new levels if embarrassment every week.

Manchester United manager David Moyes:

''That's the worst we've played in Europe, we didn't deserve to get anything.'

''I'm surprised, I didn't see that level of performance coming. I take responsibility, we have to play better.

'The players are hurting."

How? I'm being serious... how? how can you only have 'doubts' about him now? we've been playing like relegation candidates for months now. We've went from a team that won the league by twelve points to a mid-table outfit in a few months of his tenure. His performance has been as bad as anything I've ever seen in football.

He's genuinely clueless. How some fans are only getting this now I'll never know. It's been as clear as the nose on your face for months.

Well, I believe that he should be given at least a couple of seasons because we need to rebuild the squad. That belief hinges on the fact that I like what he did at Everton, and that we have at times been unlucky this season.

But I've questioned his team selection before today this season, and seeing the starting lineup and that (expected) performance makes me think that he doesn't learn from his mistakes, which is a big problem if we're going to be with him for the long term.

Seeing Kagawa on the bench, and perrenial underperformers like Valencia, Young and Cleverley start pissed me off.

I still think he'll stay till next season, bar anything drastic like a 0-5 loss to the Scousers in a couple of weeks or finishing outside 10th place but (and I won't be too disappointed by this) he won't last 2 months if we start off next season like we have played this season.

One shot on goal against easiest side from all teams in CL we could draw. Away fans should get a refund. No joking.

There's not one logical or valid argument left which I could defend Moyes with. I can't even say that he tried something.

Everything looked wrong. Everything. It almost looked like Moyes took over the whole club and doing whatever he wants and nobody can say a word, including top figures on United's board of directors and Glazers themselves.

Funnily most of the Caf saw that level of performance coming when they saw the lineup.

And the Caf is hardly full of footballing geniuses.

One things for certain, club will have a decision to make on a few players this summer - not just the ones they want to let go.

There will be some wanting out if Moyes stays - RVP at the top of that list.

I think you missed my point by quoting only that sentence I wrote.

He brought on players who he thought would get him goals when things went bad. Its the equivalent of paying a baker 500 bucks to change the oil on your car, but paying a mechanic 50 bucks to overhaul the engine when the baker unsurprisingly fecked the job up.

Or something. I dunno. I am half fuming, half depressed here on my keyboard.

If we let him build a squad in his image here we'll be in real trouble. He's already shown how competent he is at producing attacking, progressive football after all.

Even if we gave him all the money in the world would anyone really want to be a big budget Everton, playing terrible percentage football? I know I don't.

Unfortunately I agree. My argument up to now was that he should get another window to fix things but at this stage it seems like we'd be trying to strengthen the team to offset Moyes' negative influence on the team.

If we judge Moyes on his performance so far then there's no logical, evidence based reason to believe he's the right man for this job. If we stick by him beyond the end of the season we're doing so in blind faith and hoping for a miracle turn around.

After seeing the lineup, I did. So did most of the Caf. And probably Harry Redknapp's grandma.

Is it conceivable that the team at the weekend was played in order to rest the others for this match? Mata apart....

ah that's a horrible thought.

The players are as much to blame for this season as passengers on a commercial flight who when the pilot's announce system come on hear nothing but "death to infidels" in a middle-eastern accent are to blame for the subsequent plane crash.

Oh no, I got your point, I'm agreeing with it by saying he still didn't start chasing the game until we were 2-0 down. If Olympiakos hadn't scored that second who knows what he would have done, I doubt Kagawa would have been sent on anyway.

They were showing him doing the UEFA CL press conference on MUTV, so he might have been doing that at the time.

I don't think Everton played terrible football to be honest. They had times when they were pretty good too watch. In fact, Pienaar and Osman are the reasons why I thought he'd get the best out of Kagawa, but apparently Valencia and Young have embarrassing photos of him or something.

Ah okay. Sorry man. Disappointment and anger makes me misunderstand posts.

He actually thought we came into this game with good form behind us.

Is he being deliberately deluded?

Caf lineup reaction is hardly a clear indication of how the team will play. But, he should have seen it coming after 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 ..... 45 minutes. To start in the same EXACT pattern of play from the disastrous first half is beyond belief. He's bloody manager, should something not have changed coming out at half time? Shouldn't he have seen that the whole team was poor and at least make a couple quick fire changes to inject some urgency in our play.

Then again Moyes has said we've played well when he has employed similar approaches to games, so maybe it's not a case of him not seeing it coming because so far we've actually been lucky not to have even worse results / performances.

What he did at Everton has nothing to do with United though. He was good at Everton because he's good for that level, playing long ball, defensive and compact football. He was there for 10 years and Martinez has changed them more in these 8 months then Moyes ever tried doing. Moyes was satisfied to keep them at the level he got them to, and didn't even try to change it. Now he comes to United and has us playing the same way. I just think in Moyes' head, the long ball/ loads of crosses with a lot of running type football is the best style and the way forward. He just seems to stuck in his ways and is too stubborn to think he's the reason we're doing shit.

Plus he brought in Steve Round. I read elsewhere that his qualifications include 9 games played for Derby County and a spell at Newcastle in their relegation season.
