Numbers are:
Draxler: 89 Bundesliga games, 18 CL, age 20
Götze: 99 Bundesliga games, 23 CL, age 21 / he missed loads of games due to injuries though
Alaba 93 Bundesliga games, 30 CL, age 21

Jesus Darren come on!!

An overrated right back, no midfield, wingers who are piss easy to mark and a central defence that is piss poor (Even under Fergie)

Was gonna say he's shitting himself over his position but then I remembered :/

I agree that Fletcher is talking shit and trying to protect his own place and the currant players although it is evident that a lot of players should be shipped out for others. But, overrated right back? Are you kidding me? He has had a good season for most and every single friend of mine that is a non United supporter is rating him as the best right back in the league. We have a lot of changing to do, so why start at on of our strong points? Stupid.

Strong points? You for real?

I cannot get my head around how overrated he is on here!....Is he a good player? Yes! Is he the best right back in the league? Not a chance!
If he is one of our "strong" points, then, Jesus we are in trouble!!

Maybe in a year or two he will be the best in the league, but right now? Not a chance of it!

Before January 2014 it was unequivocally accepted amongst right-minded United supporters that Rafael at right back was one of our major strengths. He's had a few iffy games of late and, as per, the fickle are out in force. He was excellent last season, added a lot on his October return from injury this one. Since the festive period he's struggled, but who hasn't?

Didn't read Rossi's post earlier in the thread, it's awful in more ways than one.

Then it makes sense to wait that year. fecking hell man, you are having a mare.

A mare??? That post he quoted was from a while ago!

And he is extremely overrated on here! I've seen posts saying he's one of the best in Europe!

I also never said get rid of him! My original post was about him being overrated, which has been pointed out by many on here!

It was equivocal. The jury is still out on Rafael, and it has a lot do do with his injury record and a little to do with some of his performances. (Contrast with another young player like De Gea, for whom the jury is in.) We will have to wait and see what Moyes does about right back.

We qualified for the next round in the CL - but that's about it. We had some good games, some decent games. But nothing to suggest Moyes is a CL genius. Let's see how we do once we face a strong team
a 5-0 win away to the team that at the time was 2nd in the Bundesliga and they also needed to beat us to make sure they had a good chance of progressing in the CL was more than just a good game. It doesnt make Moyes a CL genius but then i dont recall anyone ever claiming he was a CL genius.

If there's a clear out and rebuild happening, Rafael is not a player we should be losing.

If Evra leaves, Rafael is the only remaining proper full back in the squad (don't think Buttner, Valencia, Fletcher, Smalling, Varela are quite there, Jones could be a very good right back if he wasn't needed elsewhere). Moyes has to keep him unless he has something major planned for the full back positions.

It wasn't before Moyes entered the frame. He was one of our best players last season and has exactly the kind of attitude you want to build the club around. Sadly, under Moyes, practically everything has went tits up. I dread to think what the man plans to do about our squad in the Summer.

They are still second in Germany, although in a bit of a bad run... and PSG just put four past them, also in Germany.

I don't give a damn how special that performance in Leverkusen was anyway. It's utterly meaningless when we've rarely repeated that.

So who was he watching at Arsenal's match? Kroos?

Well its not utterly meaningless to me.

This is what I'm worried about. Everything is being viewed through the Moyes discernment.

Suddenly even our brightest talents and best players need to be sold, and everyone's happy to go along with it. It's mental.

Jesus.....No one has said he should be sold!!!!!

I said, in my opinion, he is overrated on here...And someone comes along and twists it into, "OMG, people want our Rafa sold!?!?!"

It's like the office of the sun news paper around here....Christ, "Rossi slams Rafael after he attacks him with a baseball bat!"

It has been said that one flaw with the profile of our squad happens to be either not quite ready or in the autumn of their careers, and whilst i can understand that Moyes might want to reduce the latter any changes to the new guard ought to be kept to a minimum surely. You attempt to harness the legacy you've inherited not throw it with bath water.

Rafael was contending to be the best RB in the league last season, his future shouldn't even be up for debate.

After signing Mata and watching Fabregas, Kroos and Thiago these last two nights I have to say that you can't fault moyes for the quality of the players he's after. All three of them are absolutely class. Perhaps he sees something in Fellaini that most on here are yet to appreciate?

The trouble is the majority of criticisms on here end up being recycled cliches and parroting of things someone else said rather than clear articulate and accurate criticisms.

Big test coming up for Moyes balancing between Saturday's tricky away game against an in-form team, and the first leg of what could be the only bright point of our season.

The idea to go to Dubai for some team bonding and hot weather training could be a masterstroke; whether it was Moyes' idea or not. Hoping it gets the team actually playing like one, and that Moyes is going to start playing to our strengths and let teams worry about us; not the other way round.

Another week without a win, i don't care that we haven't played any games, not my problem.

On the contrary: this has been great week for Moyes - there has been nothing for him to get wrong. It is the calm before the storm!

@Pogue

The speculation was that Thiago was a long term club target and that Moyes got cold feet because he had not seen enough of him personally. He did his 'dithering Dave' bit. Of course once Pep got involved we had little chance regardless but perhaps we should have gone all out for Thiago early on?

No idea if there's any substance to the speculation or not. Still a bloody good player. Along with Fabregas and Kroos. You could argue that Moyes' targets are unrealistic (although Mata is reassuring in this regard) but there's no doubting their quality.

In what way?

I think he should judged on what players he signs, not on what players he likes.

I like all of them too (with the exception of Baines and Fellaini) but it doesn't mean much,

"Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara insists he was never approached by Manchester United about a move to Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old Spaniard joined Bayern from Barcelona earlier this month, ending speculation about a possible summer switch to United.

Thiago's father and agent, Mazinho, suggested his son had been "very close" to joining the Premier League champions, but the Spain Under-21 international appeared to contradict this claim.

"The truth is that in no moment did United come to us and talk to us. It came from the press, it was always a lie," he said."

Actually Mazinho said that we were close to sign him.

It may be real, or maybe he just using United as another big club who was interested on his son.

[speculation on my part] we were interested on him but our priority was Fabregas. Maybe we even made some talk with them but never were close to sign him. Then media made it a big deal and gave the impression that we were close to sign him, and when it finished they said that Moyes didn't fancy him. Likely he was only one of the players we were interested but it never was as big as it was portrayed from Graham Hunter (who was the source for all reports) [/speculation]
