Moyes So Far!

What's he supposed to do? Turn to the camera and say "I'm sorry" then fall on his sword?

Balls to that, I'm glad he's a fighter, if he was ready to throw in the towel I'd be disgusted.
Can you point out in my post where I say he should fall on his sword, or even suggest that he should?
If by being a fighter you mean passing the blame then he's one hell of a fighter. All I'm saying is he's doing him self no favours at the moment, and if the press turn on him then he's in for an even bumpier ride

Least. Self aware person. Everrrrrr.
Yes, but I know it. Joking aside usually in all my posts when I predict something I also add there an IMO and unfortunately I have been right this year. I hope that my prediction that Moyes won't get sacked until the summer of 2015 won't be right though.

My point was that while I don't think that Moyes will get the sack this season, it isn't a 100% sure thing like a lot of people are making it. If we go into a mediocricity form from now until the end of the season I think that he'll survive, but if things go even worse like getting humiliated by those three rival teams I mentioned before and then losing from Olympiacos and finishing even lower on the table, I think that the owners may act. I am not saying that they will do so, but I think it is a possibility, unlike other people who talk on absolutism.

Your criticue is a bit hypocrisy coming from you who moaned one day about people trying to force your vews and then niMic owned you by posting a lot of quotes when you were doing the same. Maybe we all need to have a mirror near us.

Moyes clearly needs a make over, he really lacks that sex appeal required to appeal to the masses. He needs a snazzy haircut, a bit of botox to those wrinkles, get Ronaldo to wax his eyebrows for him, give him a really sparkly new Utd top to wear, train him to speak with a sexy Spanish accent, then he'll be flying in the public eye. Probably make Mrs. Moyes cream herself too which can only be good for his confidence.

He should buy one of those inflatable trophies and just carry it around with him at all times.

Yup. He needs to be more like that selfless José Mourinho when dealing with the media ~

Excerpt from An Audience with The Special One :

HACK: "José, you, I mean, Chelsea have just lost 3-0 to Tranmere..."
MOU: "Yes but they bought the officials. And it's a UEFA conspiracy to thwart Chelsea. And someone in the crowd was spreading rabies."
HACK: "WHAT!?! Those are astonishing allegations, Your Highness!"
MOU: "Don't worry, boys - I'm just trying to keep the pressure off my team!"

And yet, if Fulham hadn't equalised after 94 minutes due to poor defending, the reaction to that bizarre game wouldn't have been a fraction of what it's been in reality.

I think not much would've changed. It was still grim to watch and given how Liverpool stuffed Arsenal top4 was gone either way. It was the performance against Fulham at home that was so shocking not the result. We slowly have adapted to Moyes tactics and it was simply so frustrating and bizarre to watch. We used to batter those teams and now we look like a side that is only able to cross.

Go get your own debate. Revan won me fair and square.

Can't argue with that tbh.

Meh it would quite surely have been a totally different reaction. It wouldn't have changed the view of many as far as Moyes is concerned but there wouldnt have been another 3 or 4 threads opened up about his failures.

The whole season has been a series of shock results, us struggling to accept how with the squad we have, and almost forgetting it, and then being rocked by another poor result soon after.

Tonight I fear will be the absolute final nail in the Top 4 aspirations. Liverpool will surely win at Fulham, whereas us beating Arsenal away looks a pretty massive task. Even a draw would mean 11 points off, with 13 games left, including City, Liverpool, and Newcastle and Everton away!

Out of even top 4 contention by mid Feb. That's an incredible line to write.

Devils In Hell.

You're asking me my reasons for pointing out a bit of your post that I didn't when I was clearly quoting and responding to Revan. Which is basically a tsunami of stupid.

I was being nice I thought, we can do it your way if you insist though.
What?

I'm saying he can't say anything without it being used for either agenda. I think people are overvaluing his press statements.

Why other managers press statements aren't used for an agenda? Except Mourinho' who usually speaks some of the most ridiculous bullshit there but then backs it with results and make his critics look like fools.

How though? He's saying the same things over and over again. If he took a bit of responsibility and promised things will change (not by luck but by good management) then I'd respect that.

I don't get that feeling though.

At this point, only 8 months in, the only press statement quite a few of you would be happy with ends with "and so I am resigning as manager of Manchester United". Am I wrong? Please tell me if so.

Exactly. So far from this press conferences he is giving the perception that he is happy with his work and won't change it. Which is totally ridiculous cause it's clear for those 'who do not have a football brain' that tactics are completely wrong. Take responsibility, do what you have to do but never blame the players in the press cause then they won't play for you and promise that things will change by playing better. It will get applauded like it was on those days when we signed Mata. But by saying that he is doing everything right, and won't change it because our poor results are because of luck and luck inevitably will change he is doing things even worse.

Since it's been 3 days since our last game and i managed to forget the game how one -dimensional we were ....I'm in a good mood again and I'm willing to give him a chance again. After today's game I will call for his head again.....that'show my cycle goes.

That obviously will be the best thing to say but he can also say other things (like I mentioned in my previous post) that would look good. Pretty much to say what top managers say.

You lot are definitely looking too much into Moyes' press conference. There's enough already there to legitimately criticise the man for, trust me, I should know.

Really? I've seen a few mind games used in them but they give no indication of anything, they're normally just PR waffle.
They're not the most important thing (or even near that) but also they are a bit more than completely nothing.

Those questions from the journalists were hardly unreasonable. Moyes should indeed have to answer questions about why we are 21 points worse off with pretty much the same squad. He deflected it onto the players by saying he was at Everton so he isnt part of the regression. F*cking joke.

Even media darling Jose has had to answer uncomfortable questions about sending Lukaku on loan, freezing out Mata etc why should Moyes get a free pass when the Champions of England are languishing in 7th place and showing signs of a steep decline under his stewardship? If anything the Journos have been too soft on him. A foreign manager would have been slaughtered already.

And yet they allowed Sir Alex to literally hand select the man that would take charge of their titanic, billion dollar 'cash cow'. They also didn't need to give Moyes such a long contract if they weren't sure that they were going to trust him and stick with him during the long term. Sure, if we're in this same situation next season or the season after then more doubts will arise, but to suggest he's under any pressure in terms of his employment already is just really naive in my opinion.

I think you'll be surprised. They expected a drop this season - but no one within the club expected it to be this poor. Its not the league position that is harming Moyes, its the way in which its happened i.e. the form and one dimensional style. He is (so far) exhibiting all the signs of "out his depth".

PS. The contract stuff was nothing but PR. There will be a get-out in there for a set amount. Entrusting SAF was a mistake - and one which will see his "say" in Moyes future have less weight behind it.

I don't believe so. The press conference is a good way to communicate with the fans, especially during troubling times. Sometimes it's hard to show your vision on the pitch, especially when we are going through a change like the one we are now.
He should be using the press conference to ease fans fears that the club is going backwards. Words can be as powerful as actions sometimes, and what we need now is reassurances not excuses.

What would you have rather he said? It's gonna get better? On the eve of an Arsenal game?
