Moyes So Far!

In fairness, I can see why he'd think our players are a bit lacking mentally based on this season. We've let our heads drop a few times when we've conceded early, made basic errors due to poor concentration and dropped a lot of points late on in games.

Obviously confidence is a massive part of the problem and Moyes isn't exactly filling anyone with it..
I disagree, pretty much everyone of our squad bar Rvp, kagawa, fellaini and Mata had to witness City win the title with the last kick of the season and then the following season the squad stayed mentally and physically strong to get the title back. I refuse to believe our squad are mentally soft.

i guess that whatever he says some ppl will always find a way in which they twist it so they can ridicule him...

Here's the quote from the Graun:

"Even when it was 2-1 and they put five minutes [of added time] up Fulham never came up the pitch, they left us with the ball. So it was nearly a case of just playing out time and we gave away a diabolical second goal. If we had one failing it was that we should have gone to win 3-1. You could use maybe mental softness that we didn't see the job out and get the job done. I would agree with that."

Would it not be better to get a new manager in now to get a feel of the club before the start of next season?

Also we have to think of transfers in the summer.

Aye, we can't allow this manager to perpetrate another Fellaini debacle.

guardiola 10/1
Klopp 12/ 1
giggs 16/1
Saf 16/1
Mourinho 20/1
G neville 20/1
Ole 20/1

As I think pep jose klopp and saf are non starters im not sure giggs neville or ole would be a big improvement on moyes (though out of the 3 my preference would be giggs)

What the odds indicate to me though is that the bookies dont seem to be able to identify a candidate so I think we are probably stuck with moyes for the time being

Haha yeah I know. Was just having a laugh :D

I think bit by bit, the players have lost it with him...Look at the Vidic scenario. Present with Moyes at his first presser, presenting him with the CS and giving him a moment in the sun....To where he is now leaving.

Quote: He's taking the champions to relegation.
That's what you said.

That's my quote. So you'll notice that you completely misquoted me. That is a fact.
You cut out half of a sentence. So laugh all you want but try reading next time.

What on earth are you on about? I left out the bit where you detailed exactly how he's doing it, but it doesn't change the meaning or context one bit.

Looking up the exact results isn't necessary.

I like that line.

Also it may help you to know for future reference that 90% of posts on a forum are going to contain an amount of hyperbole and euphemism.

That's about the first sensible thing you've said. Bearing the above in mind you should probably steer clear of qualifying your posts with words like "fact" when they are, in fact hyperbole and euphemism.

Why didn't they last year? Because of the man on the touchline who made them believe they would come back after the previous season ending and win the league. Why have their heads dropped this year? Because of the man on the touchline.

I did say 'based on this season'

There are other managers who have been sacked this season for a run of form like that.

OK. Any other interesting bits of trivia, or shall we go back to whether 44 points gets you relegated?

Seriously though, leaving aside Swater's silly exageration, the above is a much more constructive comment, being true and all. I certainly wouldn't argue with the fact that Moyes could have been sacked by a lot of clubs by now. I wouldn't support the move though.

He's not a winner and the players know that. I doubt there's much respect there from a footballing viewpoint. That is what I reckon the biggest problem is, and you cannot change the impressions players have of you that easily. They were probably as stunned as the rest of us that he got the job and brought his mid-table staff with him.

Had Mourinho walked through the door in the summer every player would have been falling over themselves trying to impress him as he is such a legendary manager and someone you want to retire having played under. I can't see them falling over themselves to catch Moyes' eye. They were probably just like "meh". Martinez hardly has a glittering CV either but he is such a cool, nice guy who speaks so well that I could see Everton players really respecting him and wanting to play for him and do well, he looks a great man manager with his gentleman approach.

Moyes comes across as very cold and hard and when you aren't a proven winner I don't think that washes with top players who have a cabinet full of medals. I honestly think 90% of being a success in management comes down to whether players want to play for you or not. And initial impressions are very important in that. If they don't fancy you straight away then it's pretty hard to change that.

I laughed at the game at first. It's like a comedy show. I was just waiting for the YouTube video, "all 82 crosses" , sped up and to the tune of the Benny Hill theme.

I am genuinely experiencing trolls remorse now though. I think this could be the cross that broke the camel's back. Genuinely worried he won't be there come August.

:(

by any chance are you a united fan?

Yes...I have been a United fan all my life...Attending matches since I was 4 years of age, season ticket holder for two years, went to away games etc...I take United very seriously.

If this is yet another sly dig at me being a negative person, who needs to go support City or Chelsea, then please don't say it. It's neither clever or funny....Just because I have an opinion different to some, does not make me anyway less a United fan. I happen to be extremely concerned...

If you have a different point to make, please share though :)

Wow, Pep the favourite.

As I stated- Confidence comes from the manager. Obviously he's come in having never won anything, made changes to the coaching set-up, and has a reputation for playing long ball football (which he's proving to be correct) and the players never really accepted him.

We will give him the summer to strengthen. I think it will be a big mistake, but we will. Next season will be another write off under Moyes, or at least the half season I expect him to last. His successor may inherit a squad of Moyes' men too... Giving us further years of transition. Fellaini will be straight out the door.

What a thing to say about a team who has won more than he can ever dream of, that takes mental toughness David. This coming from someone who messed up everytime his former club had any chance of winning something.

Wait wait. Weren't you always saying that players have let the fans down and should be ashamed of themselves?

He also said this today...

I really don't understand how he can say stuff like this with a straight face. We just go on and hope to challenge the next team? So negative its unreal. It's hard to believe he's actually a premier league manager with how he's done with us this season. You'd think he's trying his hardest to screw us over because he's gotten almost everything wrong.

Well we tried to make it hard for Newcastle. We will challenge the mighty Aston Villa next.

He needs time to stamp his own style on the team. If he's still not getting results by summer 2017, eyebrows will be raised.

It just sunk in. We're 15 points off the 1st place and 9 points off top 4, in mid-february. And we're out of both domestic cups.

Had you told me this before the season started, then I would have laughed in your face and called you a delusional moron for having so ridiculously low expectations. Yet here we are...

i will...i find it a bit strange that you re having fun seeing your manager reportedly having trouble with players..

I don't think he'd entertain the idea tbh, hence my surprise.

Aye, but even if he did, there is no way the club would match his ludicrous wages. He is on nearly treble Moyes' salary.

Unfortunately, I reckon we will be stuck with Moyes for the forseeable future. As depressing as that seems right now.

"You could use maybe mental softness that we didn't see the job out and get the job done. I would agree with that."

WTF?

Did anyone see Moyes instructing the players to see out the 2-1 and play possession football for 5-10 minutes? By which i mean it's not as if they were contravening his orders.

Scant days before a match with Arsenal we've got a manager trashing his own players in public, obviously the notion of taking all of the responsibility onto himself or saying sod all never even occurred to him.

I wonder if this got back to Hernandez before he posted that message of his.

Oh believe me, I'm not having fun at all...I'm seriously concerned and saddened by it all....I was very critical of Rio during the week over the Twittier thing...I'm seriously worried now Hernandez has started the same thing as it's very unlike him.

Forget how far we are off first or fourth place. In 2014 we have two wins and a draw from nine matches. This is an astonishing average of 0.78 points per game. Beyond relegation form, with world class players at his disposal. This is really quite nauseating and sickening. I feel physically sick thinking about what Moyes is doing to this club I love so much.

That bazzalini thread about Carrick being lucky should have been aimed at Moyes instead.

First, he somehow gets chosen as manager of Manchester United.

Then for some reason, he's handed a 6 year contract.

And finally, he seemingly faces no pressure despite most people thinking he's nowhere near good enough as his team plunges into freefall whilst playing dire football.

This, I could never understand why the club handed him that kind of contract, such blind faith, there is a name for that naivety.

Its a gamble to employ somebody like Moyes, if it works, brilliant, loyal chap, fits in with the clubs history and it could be another class manager in the making. Yet unproven on the highest level, never won anything that really matters, which means it could go horribly wrong. I actually support the club for being brave about it and having the guts to atleast try it with Moyes. Yet I'd expect if you take a gamble like that, you hand him a two year contract. Best case scenario he immediatley proves to be right guy for the job and you can easily reward that, by handing him a 4 or 5 year contract extension after the season. Expected scenario is he may need some time, about two years should do it, if you don't think he is the right man, it won't cost the club anything to get rid of him since his contract would be running out by then and if you do think he is the right guy, you could still extend his contract. Worst case scenario is a season like this, you could nip it in the but and fire him before his contract runs out and it would cost some money but not nearly as much as it would cost getting rid of a 6 year contract.

Its almost as if the club never doubted him and never saw a possible scenario in which he might fail, its like they thought the entire world is going to want Moyes once he starts coaching this team, so we have to make sure he won't leave and so we are going to give him a 6 year contract, madness, that is what that is, absolute madness. All the bullshit about it being a sign of confidence.... yea sure its a sign of confidence, blind confidence, overconfidence, delusional madness in fact, that is what that is a sign of. Isn't it already enough confidence that we'd give him the top position in the first place and let him bring in his own people and whatever players he'd want. We could have easily said, you can come, but you can't fire Meulensteen or Phelan and have to work with them and you have to let the coaching stay in Rénés hands and you can't actually go on to sign new players until you have proven you are good enough with the ones you already have, if you reach the expectations than you'll get your 6 year deal and then you can bring in your own guys and your own players. No we didn't do that, we said here are the keys of the kingdom have your way it, do whatever you want, you'll even get some fair time to transition the squad, but why the hell did we have to give a 6 year contract on top of that... no wonder the guy is smilling like that, he is going to earn a small fortune if we fire him and it will cost the club quite alot of money. Don't you have to like pay off the remaining salary as a compensation, that would be like £25m if we fire him at the end of the year. Madness really. The transtion of Ferguson just couldn't have been handled any worse imo, its been a total shambles. Embarrasing stuff from a club the grandeur of Manchester United.
