Former Manchester United defender Denis Irwin says the Red Devils must give manager David Moyes time to rebuild the squad at Old Trafford.
The Scot has endured a difficult season since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson with the reigning Premier League champions currently in seventh place a massive 16 points behind leaders Chelsea.
However, Irwin feels the new boss needs to be given time to refresh the squad and get the team playing his way.
“Until he [Moyes] brings players in, puts his own stamp of philosophy the way he wants to play, we have to give him time. It's simple as that,” Irwin told Goal.
“It's been a tough year for Manchester United in the Premier League, but the Premier League has always been fantastic. I don't think there's any getting away from that
“The club will be very patient. We'll have to win a lot of games to finish in the top four, but as I said, until he brings his own players in and puts his own philosophy on the Manchester United team, we have to give him plenty of time.
“As I said, it's always going to be a tough year after Sir Alex left, no matter who took the job. The team needs freshening up. There's no doubt about that and hopefully in the summer we'll be able to do that.”
Irwin also feels that Moyes was the right man to replace Sir Alex Ferguson and says it is no surprise to see the champions struggling under new management.
“Moyes did a fantastic job at Everton in his 11 years there and totally deserves his chance,” he added.
“It's not my decision. It's the board’s decision and the ex-manager [Sir Alex] to put him [Moyes] forward. It will take a while [for Moyes] to know the players.
“He tried to sign a few players in the summer, but it didn't really work out. And I have no doubt that he will be in and out for them in the summer again.
"It's been tough. I think everybody knew there were going to be a lot of ups and downs this year.”
Made even worse when you look at the opposition, Fulham, Stoke, Swansea, Sunderland, even Spurs was a home game. Shocking results.

There he is, manager of Manchester United.
So what you're saying is that, like Milan, this summer we're gonna make a raft of signings like Milan did in getting Dugarry, Ba, Davids etc. and still find we're gonna need to replace our manager (maybe a few times) to get back to being successful? Yeah I can see that...
...wonder who will be our Zaccheroni and Ancelotti?
He's actually laughing during that. Surreal.
I cannot believe how ridiculous he sounds there. It is Hodgson all over again.
Did Hodgson ever laugh after such a result? I mean, literally, laugh and smile and joke around like a bellend? He's actually laughing during that. Surreal.

Arsenal next..
When you think about it, a club who haven't had a new manager in 25 years getting a manager who hasn't taken on a new club in a decade is a recipe for disaster

Martinez could be the Zaccheroni type. Everton getting into the top four within a couple of seasons playing an attractive, positive style of football and making that step up after United finish in midtable - that's roughly comparable to Udinese finishing third while Milan finished 10th. Could happen.
He often did, from memory. He'd smile about 'misfortune' and 'focus on winning the next game' a lot.
He hasn't gone full Hog yet though. He's got to start talking about how difficult it will be to convince Stoke to sell their best players. That was when it tipped over the edge once and for all.

Lies. Woodward did ok. He couldn't have forced Barca to sell a player that they didn't want to sell, neither force Fabregas - who didn't had any intention to leave - to leave. He offered 15m for Baines, which is more than Baines is worth of. Moyes wanted Fellaini despite we had apparently a dea with Strootman. We didn't paid 20m for De Rossi (Roma's price) but we didn't had problems paying almost 10m more for Moyes buddy.
Woodward destroyed the transfer window is just an another pathetic excuse for Moyes. And this year we have had many of them. Luck, injuries, players are shit, referees are not giving us anything, Glazers, Woodward, other teams being better, only 3/4/5/6/7/8 months etc. Just excuses and everyoneknows that. Some people are more interested to look betetr than other fans (supposedly you look better than others by backing the manager) than for the future of the club.
Yep. He's our Hodgson alright. But he's Scottish so we win. He's actually laughing during that. Surreal.

As were the crosses. You're seeing what you want to see as well.
Look we all like him, he seems like a good guy, but he's not a Manchester United level manager and his tactics are showing it week after week. Trying to nit pick little points here and there isn't going to change the general idea of most about him.
The whole ironic thing about is, back then certain United fans were critical of the way we supposedly treated him, i think now people realise how infuriating it is to not only have a manager out of his depth, but one that seemingly has no ambition either.
You're wrong this time. He needs to resign. Won't cost a thing.I was right. As always. he needs to be sacked tomorrow.
Somehow your posts always make me chuckle a bit, even during these hardships!Hold me
