Moyes So Far!

Feel a bit sorry for Moyes, when you get Rio acting like a prick on Twitter today. The players should be professional and be a bit more savvy on social media. Really disappointing stuff from Rio, really poor.
Rio will always be much more of a club legend than Moyes.

I'd give this post a standing ovation if I could. Incredible.
It really isn't (IMO). There is no chance that we are playing better than last year - if someone says so he is lying to himself - and I can't see anything to suggest that Moyes is learning fast. There is 0 difference from the begnning of last season, 0 improvement and he has yet to start tinkering with formation. Saying that he is learning fast is just a wishful thinking at the moment.

The PFA manager award shouldn't ever be used as an argument. We all know that the award should have been called 'when United win it goes to SAF, otherwise it goes to one of his midtable buddies'. The unproven Mourinho came from another league and won the league in record points in his first season (and there was concurrence, the invincible Arsenal) and yet he didn't won the award. It is the most bullshit award to have ever existed. Not even mandatory Xavi/Sergio Ramos on Fifa XI aren't more unfair that it.

Otherwise it has a few interesting point but it has nothing to do with an incredible post. It is a completely biased, without arguments and wishful thinking post.

The entertainment here on Sunday will be immense!!

If we win, we'll have the pro Moyes people in here saying "We beat Fulham! You lot have egg on your faces! He's the right man! Today shows he needs time!"......Let battle commence

If we lose, we'll have the anti Moyes people in here saying "Oh my God get rid of this idiot now!!!"......Once again, let battle commence :D

And your posts arent biased either right?. The Fifa XI comment is completely nonsensical???? whats that about???

I actually expect us to beat Fulham, Rooney, RVP, Mata, Januzaj and co, even playing get it wide lump it in should beat Fulham.

I'm sorry if my taste in posts offends you. Why not reply to the fecking post though?

@Lowkey @Tomalonge

If we fail to reach the CL, gave him another chance and then signed few top quality players in the summer, what should we expect from him next season? will getting us back into the top 4 constitute a successful second season for him?

"Ah we'll easily beat West Brom and Southampton at home and go on a run"
"We'll go on a decent run from Christmas on, win our home games and be in decent shape by the end of January"

The bold predictions of the Caf :D

Anyone see Rio's tweet? :nervous:

Our of curiosity how many lads on here actually feel confident going into away games with Moyes as the manager? When SAF was in charge, even away games to City, Arsenal and Chelsea, I felt fairly confident we could get a result and we did the last couple of seasons. This season I just knew going into City and Chelsea, there was no way we were going to even come back up with a point let alone 3. I can say the same when we go to Arsenal this month.

I never expected to beat anyone as a given, even under SAF, however even when we lost it was rare that we didn't throw everything at the opposition, there was a winning mentality, right to the bitter end.

I used to go into a deep depression after losing an important match and be in a bad mood the next day (remember the 'Happy Hideaway threads?). Now I actually see winning as a bonus and I have no expectation of either winning or a decent performance.

Well, to be fair, Fulham are a couple of levels behind Soton and West Brom. I wouldn't be confident if we are playing those 2 this weekend.

I saw Rio's tweet (para-phrasing), Michael Laudrup sacked, managerial merry go round, who will be next?

I've got to the acceptance stage. Back in Sep/Oct/Nov, I refused to watch any United game with anyone because I get all stressed up afterwards if we don't win.

Nowadays, I'm happy to watch and laugh together with my ABU friends when we lose against the likes of Stoke.

Both are more popularity votes than anything else. Half of players usually don't deserve to be on Fifa XI, and Moyes never deserved to be manager of the year. In 2005 it was seriously ridiculous and can anyone imagine SAF to break the points record and then the award to go to a manager who finished fourth in the league?

And does anyone really think that we are playing better than last year? If yes, I would love to see how they have come to that conclusion. Last year we were bad, this year we are even worse.

That follow up tweet seals it for me. He knows exactly what he's doing. Wouldn't be the first time he's used Twitter to stir things up.

Aye...He's stirring shit for no reason

Fixed. I'd dearly love to know how anyone thinks that too.

If it's actually a dig on Moyes then get rid of Rio. Can't have any of this behavior at the club.

No need to fix. That was exactly my point. If SAF would have breaken the league record can someone imagine someone else getting the award?

Also, Moyes hasn't ever won the PFA manager of the year (which has at least some credibility because it is chosen by professionals). He has won the League Manager Association Award three times, which is voted by managers of EPL and we all know the influence of SAF on them. He has ten PFA manager of the month awards (third most in EPL) which is a very big achievement though.

Yeah he's not being very subtle at all about his thoughts there. He's more then likely retiring at the end of the season and I doubt he likes Moyes very much, so he's just letting his thoughts out. I don't really care, of course we'd all love them all to get along but Rio will always be a bigger legend then Moyes ever will here IMO, regardless of how he feels about the current manager. Maybe its a sign of what the others think as well and Moyes has truly lost the dressing room. He'll probably tweet about this later as well though, for clarification. That or he'll get released right away.

I see... the fact that Mourinho did it in his first season in the EPL makes it an even bigger achievement than Sir Alex.

Exactly. But he didn't won it.

He easily won PFA award on his first two seasons in England though.

Is that a genuine question?

Yes, because when you take a title winning team and spend over 100M on players and then the best you could do 2 seasons later is a top 4 finish without making a title challenge then what does he need to make a title challenge the season after? i genuinely want to know your expectations of him next season.

I think a huge part of the belief about giving managers reasonable time comes from the notion that the manager when appointed would've been the best and most suitable candidate, was chosen on through a vigorous process, chosen on a logical basis and for the right reasons. The idea that we can go from that to wanting him out within a few months is absurd, right? Probably. What it conveniently ignores though, is he never should've been appointed in the first place. Quite simply, he did not meet near-enough any of the criteria required to manage Manchester United, and was picked for the wrong reasons. I don't want him gone because of 6 bad months, I didn't want him in the first place, and watching him set us up for years of failure this season has only proven me right.

Next season: Top 4
Season after: Challenge for the title.

If next January it looks as bad as this season then fair enough, he has to go.

Actually Stack or pocco (I always think that they are a single person) said that if we sign 4-5 Matas we should aim for the title but even if we finish fourth is okay.

If we sign another 4-5 Matas in the summer we should aim to outplay Bayern Munich, not consider fourth place okay.

He can't declare for Scotland though so it won't happen

Technically he can, I think anyone who gets a UK passport by immigrating to the country and declare for any of the 4 home countries. I think...
