Moyes So Far!

I still hope right now that the reason we insist on playing a shitter version of the football we played last season if because Moyes either doesn't trust the current crop to adapt to a new system or they are just plain struggling to do so. No manager can be trying to get his team to play the way we are, surely?

Hopefully the Mata effect will spark some changes at least.

as well as things aren't going our way, I have to say I go along with the view that Moyes must have sinned badly some of the luck he's had.

Swansea in the cup? Ok we weren' exactly pummeling them, but we were pretty comfy at 1-1. Then Ferdinand suddenly gets injured, and Fabio comes on, seemingly on a mission to smash as many people as possible. Oh sorry, yeah that was Moyes' fault for "mistreating him".

Sunderland at home? Again, strolling 1-0 up, Sunderland no shots on target, then a 118th min daisy cutter sneaks in off De Gea. Then the worst set of penalties ever seen. Not helped by Hernandez and Carrick being injured when they'd definitely have taken one each.

Not to mention VP and Rooney both being injured together, and VP probably not fully fit all season! And Carrick having ages out too.

yeah....that's it.....he's too advanced...the same reason why Everton never won anything....

God you're boring. If you can't get involved beyond stupid meaningless shitty comments like that, why don't you go back under what ever rock you were under for so long.

Moyes has had some bad luck...but then again.....a lot of the players have made that bad luck on themselves....because they haven't played to the full ability that they obviously can. And I say obviously, because regardless of people saying the team is pretty average...we won the league last season in what is arguably considered the hardest league to win the in the world.....

I don't see that as being about luck particularly, or only to the extent that luck is a massive part of football anyway. If you have a one goal lead you have to treat that lead as precarious and press for another goal. We've been complaining about injuries every year for ages, that's not luck either, that's why we have a squad.

We won the league last year thanks to some stand out individuals and a lot of passengers. Sadly the stand out individuals are either injured or playing below themselves all year and we are asking last years passengers to be leaders.

How many of those players you listed have performed anywhere near up to the desired level this season?

Yeah. Some are so bad, compared to their usual standard. You can't say they lack of effort, as they work hard in every game. So, something wrong is going on.

..and because of one feck off stand out motivating manager who had the ability to make 'passengers' play beyond their supposed potential...

No arguments here. Young, Valencia, Cleverly, Evra and more were still very poor last year though.

Signing Mata, scouting all over Europe, going to matches himself, getting rid of Anderson.

I have no doubts that his long-term squad view is pretty ok.

Excited about Mata like everyone else, but it doesn't change my opinion on Moyes one iota. It doesn't matter which world class players he signs as long as he has the team playing shit football.

If we sign enough world class players it will bridge the gap in his deficiencies as a manager.

Well, hopefully, it's the first sign in Moyes moving away from being robust and tumescent in his formations and tactics. I understand him being 'safe' in the first months to get used to the club, players etc but we need to move away from that now. We need movement up front, quick, accurate passing, interchanging positions etc. Signing Mata is hopefully the start of getting back to that.

He'll soon settle in the swing of things.

Trust our manager lads. Like him or not, we aren't going to sack him. So just fecking support him.

We will support him if he stops playing 4-4-2 against a more sophisticated 4-2-3-1. We get overrun in the midfield & our wing play has been shyte for aeons.....

This is why it seems no combination seems to work in our central midfield & Ballack, Makelele, Essien in their prime would struggle in the system we play.

We make life difficult for our midfielders.......

Agreed. Take someone like Cleverley who we all know isn't that great to begin with. In almost any other team he would not be tasked to carry himself in a 2 man midfield yet we constantly ask him to do so and then berate him when he gets outperformed by Leon Britton who has 2 other midfielders helping him in the middle.

Who knew Moyes was a funny guy? Jupp Heynckes can't get enough of him!

Means business this transfer window. Serious business.

Let's hope he also buys some sophisticated staff while in Germany (or Jupp as his AM) :)
With Mata coming in we don't really need another attacking midfielder right now and Heynckes is a bit old. Experience matters on the pitch, I know, but still. Also, he's a striker really, we'd just play him out of position.

It's good stuff. :D Don't expect us to buy anyone else now tbh, but certainly other clubs would be worrying who we're looking at. I think they (and us), were expecting 'value' signings.

You have to give him credit for the Mata coup. If people doubted United's or Moyes's ability to attract big players, well, I don't think they come much bigger than Mata.

Well in, Moyes.

Now let's get Shaw and Kroos in and rip this league to fecking pieces!

Imagine how fecking excited he must be right now.

I've always admired his intent to bring in world class players. He has stated it since day one that that is the quality we should be going for. We gave him stick for Fabregas but he's proved that he can get players that would seem out of our reach.

He also mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we would be surprised at the number of top players that want to come to us. I wouldn't be surprised if Mata was one of those and we had sounded him out a while back.

Last summers window was a bit messy. No comparison between this one and the last one, he clearly has his serious face on. I like it.

People need to lower their expectations for the coming summer window. Any World Cup year window is a tough one, he shouldn't be judged too harshly on it in my opinion. I know he needs to do stuff in the window but the next transfer window comes at a horrible time for him.
