Moyes So Far!

Only 5 points won against the sides above us.

That is a shocking record and worryingly its a Moyes career trend too.

I'm getting tired of hearing "we will try and improve" after every fecking game.

Seriously, comments like that are such garbage. "We'll work harder and try to improve." Then why the hell weren't you doing it before? He says the same tripe to the media every match. We were unlucky, didn't deserve to be down, just need to improve, we'll work harder, etc. There's no point even talking to the media. It's just as predictable as his tactics.

It's a shame Moyes isn't having as fantastic a first season as Rodgers did
Moyes took over a better side, and Rodgers was given more a benefit of the doubt because he already had a reputation for passing, attractive football, and it was clear he was trying to impose the same style on Liverpool. What style or tactics or changes has Moyes imposed on us?

Barcelona aren't and somehow I can't see them putting up with a new manager that had gotten a title-winning squad into seventh, can you? neither would Bayern, Real or any of the rest of the heavyweight clubs either.

I mean, seriously, we're a point ahead of Newcastle. Newcastle! people can talk about injuries all they want but this is way beyond unacceptable now.
i don't know Bayern, but barca and real are full of internal political conflicts, not to mention the amount of money they invest in the squad.-much higher than us. The setup is different too. It s easier to hire and fire because the manager there us just a coach with limited say on players.
our structure is different and the manager's work is more than just a coach and it ll take him more time to settle in

I think we're all just losing a bit of faith in his all conquering Scottishness. Hopefully he can dig deep and be a bit more Scottish in the coming months.

Manchester United manager David Moyes, speaking to BBC Sport: "We did not deserve to be 2-0 down at half time. We had a little bit of bad luck with the first one but we can't blame anyone else but ourselves for the other two. We did not defend well enough and did not get a chance like Chelsea got to score, so we can only blame ourselves for that.
"I thought we played well in parts of the game. We played well at the start, we just missed the clinical finish. We didn't score in their box and we didn't defend well in our box. I thought we did well in between the two boxes, but then did not do what was required in the crucial areas.
"We will keep going. We showed a lot of good things today. There is a progress we have to make and improve all round and myself and the club will try to do that."
On Vidic's sending off and Rafael's booking: "I have not seen Rafa's but I have seen Vidic's. Vidic's for me is not a red card, it was a yellow card. If Rafa's was a bad one I would hopefully come out honestly and say what I think."

Same shit different match.

You can talk all day about the attributes Moyes doesn't have, but United aren't even displaying the ones he does at the moment - good defensive stability, good shielding off the defence, good wing play, etc.

I honestly believe we wouldn't win the league with Moyes in charge even if we signed Messi, Bale and Ronaldo.

The team he's inherited should not be sat in 7th. 14 points off the top in January.

What do you expect/want him to say?

"I'm shit, please sack me now..." ?

Soo many average players in our squad today (partly down to injuries). Young, Welbeck, Hernandez, Valencia, Jones (midfielder) are not title material.

Championship winning side, if only it was that simple. Are you purposely choosing to forget the obvious problems last season and the fact our squad is largely dross?

I suppose winning the league by 11 points masked our staggering incompetence at football.

He'd have Ronaldo & Bale sticking to the wings in a 4-4-2... :(

For some reason even though I expected us to get nothing out of this match, and I expected us to play a lot worse than we did, I still can't help but feel annoyed.

Maybe it's because for the second time this season against us, Chelsea were actually pretty shit and we did feck all about it.

Its almost as if he was left a massive problem in midfield by the previous manager...

He's not making the best out of them though. He's not bringing players on in any way. The best players United have had this season have been Rooney(playing for a move) and Januzaj who is just a great talent who was always going to kick on. Literally no-one else is playing better under him than under Ferguson.

A problem that he isn't addressing. He may have wanted other players but his first signing there has completely underperformed and with the players who he has had to chose from he's played as if there is no problem there- going 2 against 3 in almost every game. It's not even 2 against 3 most teams as everyone else tucks their wide players inside.

Who then signed a player who's made zero impact for us and our 5th most expensive signing to date. You can't throw that bone at Dave, he had the summer to look for targets to start fixing the issue and brought in fecking Fellaini, a player that barely any of us on here wanted.

It's soon getting to the stage where Sir Alex was so amazing he managed to turn relegation candidates into runaway champions.

We should be grateful Moyes is getting us midtable with those useless players. :wenger:

Yeah, people are overplaying this "Fergie left us in a mess" business. We weren't fantastic but Fergie hasn't left Moyes with a cannon fodder squad. Moyes needed to make his own signings. Needed to be able to get the most out of this title winning squad and he's done neither. This isn't a team that's 7 or 8 players short of the top 3 at the moment, yet it looks that way. That has feck all to do with Fergie.

tbf he had a couple of good games lately, not to mention that the options are very limited at the time being

It was just Swansea. But Kagawa was running the show last week. And Januzaj was doing great on, he wings as,well. Should've stuck with them, for this game, as well. As for options being limited, we had the players to field a 3-1 at the front. Januzaj-Kagawa-Valencia with welbeck upfront would've been, much better than Januzaj in the middle, with Young on the wing. It's almost the same with Sir Alex. Im you all remember why we lost at City two seasons ago. Diabolical team selection.

And Hernandez.. :( How many minutes has he played for us this season?

6pts or even 7pts to Everton isn't unassailable, but it's starting to feel like Moyes isn't the man that can abridge that gap.

Feel a bit sorry for him really - it's clearly not going his way at the moment.

Hopefully at some point a light switch is going to turn on somewhere and he'll sort us the feck out... maybe.

It's their own way of pretending that Moyes is doing alright. We're nearly in February and we're a point above Newcastle. With our squad that is just ridiculously bad, it really is.

The greatest manager English football has ever seen couldn't get "the best" out of them. The league was won by Rooney, RVP and De Gea last year, the midfield bar Carrick was a fecking embarrassment. Fergie fecked up, massively, in leaving his replacement with this hole to fix and with a complete moron in Woowar to do it for him.

Agree to a point, but I do think this year your midfield as a whole has gone from relatively uninspiring to plain irresponsible and a liability at times.

Knowing his luck, he'd flick the wrong switch and blow up the world! It certainly has been a bit of a disaster, certainly a record breaking first season. :(

The only things I can he's done well are, keep Rooney and sign up Januzaj for 5 years. Placed far too much faith in experienced players who have repeatedly let him down.

i don't think playing both kagawa and januzaj against a physical side like Chelsea away would make sense. I think jones was preferred to fletcher for this reason.

I agree, starting with a name change, what kind of name is Moyes anyway. From now on he's David McOyes

We should change his middle name to Hamish too, if it isn't already of course. We just need a little more Scottishness at the moment. When we brought Moyesy in I think we all thought "Yes. Scottish" because we were all aware of how important that is to football management. I just feel we've not seen that truly Scottish level of Scottishness we've been accustomed to and were expecting. The players are feeling it too. We should perhaps change back into the gingham kit, put haggis on the pre-game menu and deep fry at least a third of all the nutritional energy bars. Once Moyes can get back into his Scottish groove and feel fully comfortable in his role as a Scottishy Scottish person, we'll be flying. That's how football management works.

Wont blame him too much for what happened today as I felt Chelsea just got that slice of luck that is needed in these big games but feck me, why was Januzaj playing as a striker the 1st half? Mental. And also as someone else pointed out, Moyes doesnt seem to believe in Subs.

I've said it earlier and I'l say it again, if we dont finish in the top 4, he needs to go.

Meh, nonsense. Exaggerations.

Generally I'd say the only positions we seriously need serious investment in are centre midfield and central defence.

Do Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and Newcastle have better or equal squads to us? Because that's who we're behind and around atm and if you believe we do then Sir Alex was working sheer miracles last season.
