Moyes So Far!

The more I see, the more I wonder if he's a 'patsy' of sorts. Whoever took over from Ferguson was always going to be a bit screwed, but this way the Glazer's have made a sensible choice, led by SAF, given him a whole season and when it doesn't work out, then they can bring a 'savior' manager who will have no pressure on them at all.

The big issue is that Klopp aside, there really aren't any world class managers doing nothing at the moment, and we'd really want a younger one who could shape their own squad.

I'm sorry, but that makes no sense.

Taking over from a great = more pressure to perform. Whether that's in business, sports or whatever. Like when Steve Jobs stepped down the first time. It's often far easier to take over from the person who has already not lived up to the great, because the pressure is off and expectations have been reset.

Make sense?

What on earth makes you say that? Doesn't their MLS franchise achieve feck all for year after year?

It's different with the NFL (which I presume is what you meant and not the MLS) as it's more of a socialist organisation where profits are split much more equally than the Premier League. If United suffer a long bout of mediocrity and the money stops coming in it would directly impact the Glazers.

I'd hope given we have people that know the ins and outs of contracts in charge that Moyes's has escape clauses up the arse.

I still think there will be clauses in Daves contract that allow us to sack him if he doesnt perform. It'd be the wise thing to do imo. Offer a long contract with the understanding that performing below a top 4/6 finish results in us having the freedom to cut ties.

Teams with losing records in the NFL don't make money.

But it is also at Chelsea this game and are already 3-0 down. This is very much damage limitation than we're only a goal behind and playing well
which is why I said Moyes had given up 5 minutes into the 2nd half. In the past at 3-0 with 40 minutes left we would still have tried to get something from a game.

I actually think Moyes is such a decent bloke he'd walk away without the full payment, and agree this was all a mistake.

Who knows, maybe this time next year we'll be competing for the title (partly due to our non-involvement in Europe, but hey!) and we'll laugh at our judging Moyes on his period when he lost 5 out of 7 matches.

i promised myself to avoid this thread today before the game once it was over...but for what its worth
A top manager would be getting more out of our squad than Moyes is after 6 months
A top manager would have landed the necessary targets over the summer to sort out any weakness's

painful truth is that we are stuck with Moyes for a long time....I think he will get it right but not for a few more painful seasons

Good call.

No they didn't.

Which you know because I remember you constantly criticising and moaning about this team under Ferguson.
We didn't play football I liked. We were dire to watch. But we were comfortable champions and I've consistently said that only city's squad (at the time) matched ours.

Let's get it straight, this squad should be comfortably achieving a fourth place finish. Yes we are light in midfield and we've have some bad luck with injuries. But Moyes just seems to get nothing right, I don't really know what we should do but I'd like to see Klopp given the job if we do change manager.

In other news Vidic has just been sent off... Joy

It doesn't make sense to hire someone to simply be a "patsy". Moyes was hired because Fergie decided he was the BEST man for the job, not because he expected him to fall flat on his face.

You don't put people in charge of your most valuable assets expecting them to fail.

Aye, a lot of the criticism in the squad (at times I felt unfair as well) was that it wasn't good enough to win the Champions League. I accepted the squad last year was shite compared to Bayern, Madrid and Barca.

Now a number of people are saying we're average compared to Spurs, Liverpool and Everton which isn't true, we're not THAT bad.

Another game against a top team, another humiliation. When does it end?

Here's a hint: when he goes.

He has to go. Look at the players, they've just completely lost the plot, thats the managers fault.

It's not bad at all. If Moyes is sacked, people will suddenly start appreciating the quality we have.

Our biggest issues aren't in personnel, it's in the "way" we play. IMO of course.

It's been proven he's not good enough. 1) what he's done to the champions 2) the football we are playing 3) how Everton are performing without him.

Get shut before it's too late.

Logical given the way the teams have played but retarded looking at the two squads.

Given the different injuries happening throughout the season, the available players for both teams made the squads pretty much on the same level. Martinez has just gotten more out of his players than Moyes ever has at Man Utd.

Look at us. A shambles. No discipline whatsoever. Those players are not playing for moyes.

Contradiction much?

That's what worries me. They don't seem to have any bite about them and don't really care. Moyes needs to revamp the squad but if he can't work with what he's got you have to wonder if that'll work...

Shocking team selection. The players are not playing for him. I like the guy and have backed him but this has been awful.

I'm afraid to say but it does look as if he's lost the players.

He really needs to do something in this window, otherwise I can't see us making the top 4. It's fortunate we don't play the likes of Chelsea or City every week.
I do think we'll go on a run now and beat the rest, especially with Rooney and RVP back soon - but our squad is woefully average in comparison to the top 4. It's amazing how Fergie got so much out of them.

I don't want him to be sacked, but he really needs to buy a fecking player or two to inspire us and march for the top 4.

It's a question of when we pull the plug in my opinion.

Losing to Chelsea isn't bad in isolation, but he has to show us something positive that he is bringing to the club. We lose the games we are expected to lose, and we lose the games which are supposed to be close and we routinely drop points in the game we are expected to win. If the squad is bad, he should be ballsy enough to buy someone to improve it, if he can't then that's his fault.

They've lost the head. Conceding right after HT again. Really wonder if they listen/trust him

Enough is enough. He has to go at the end of the season. Fergie left him with a capable squad, he doesn't know what to do.

He ain't leaving - I've accecpted that a long time ago.
We just have to hope he can sort the squad out this summer
