Moyes So Far!

The problem I have if this was Sir Alex, he would know we are in trouble and would strengthen somewhere on the field in January, probably not midfield of course. Moyes seems to still think he is at Everton and that if we are mid table it is fine.

Any other top club wouldn't have even hired him.
That's probably true. Sometimes I wonder wonder whether fergie went for him basing far far too much on the "character of a Scotsman" (from his autobiography).

That's bollocks though. It doesn't win you games because your players don't know whats going on. It's a tactic devised by a panicking manager.

How many times did Fergie finish a game with 4 strikers on the pitch? All out in the end to go for the result. Of all the things to complain about the subs are not one of them.

He'd have been sacked after the two home defeats in a row at almost every other club. There is something to be said for giving him time, but there also needs to be clear and defined objectives, which if he fails to meet, then we move on.

He's going nowhere even if he takes us to the championship. He's the chosen one so we are the ones that need to drop our expectations to dog-shyte standard. I figured this out after the loss to West Brom. Our aspirations this season should have equal weight to that of Stoke fans. Finishing in the 8th position on the final whistle of the last league game should see our fans running to the pitch to pat the players on the back for a job well done.

"Played really well", and there was "nothing in today's performance" that made him see a need to buy players. I can take the transitional period but he's not being straight with us and it's peeing me off as much as the results at this point.

Reading that feels like sth is dying inside me.

We weren't ready to win seven on the run - we'd have needed luck to do it and we weren't lucky.

They were some positives. We started well. We didn't just fade away to doing nothing in the last 15 minutes, we actually looked like we were chasing the game. Rooney did some good work in the second half. Adnan and Danny look like they know what each other is about. We had good possession.

Overall though? The defence is clueless at times. The attack seemed to be based on repeating the same failed strategy until the opponents got bored. Danny was often isolated up front, which doesn't work for him, he's a clever passer on the deck, not a target man.

The right signings would give the team and the fans a lift. The wrong ones could drag down morale even further. January will need to be handled with care.

Looks like we will struggle for the CL spots but I wouldn't place that squarely on Moyes. He will, quite rightly, get another season to put it right. Will he? I have no idea.

I do increasingly get the feeling the Rooney nonsense is our ticking time bomb. If he goes this Summer I can't see us getting even close to replacing him. If he is not leaving then stop being an arse and play deeper because we very fecking clearly need him to do so.

He needs to stop playing Valencia at rightback. It was never going to be an easy job. Fergie left him with a shit squad. I hope he is ruthless and starts getting rid of underperformers in this window. He has nothing to lose we were never going to contest for the title and 4th place is a bonus at best.

"Hi, every other team in world football - we're massively desperate for midfielders and assorted other players" is a considerably better negotiating starting point.

I dont understand critism Moyes takes for our performances, admittedly could have done better in the summer but overall, I dont feel we are playing much different to last season. Just last season, we were getting strokes of luck in many games aswell as van persie!

He only did it to bring an extra attacker on.

I've seen no real consistent game plan under Moyes.

Totally agree with your last bit. Which is why we won't do anything in January though I fear.

I haven't seen the post-match interview - did he really say we were great? If he did, then we're fecked.
Typical Moyes. We did well but got unlucky on the break.

Yawn football. Yawn character.

Seriously, I didn't expect great football under Moyes, but I thoughts we'd at least play with fire. Really hope he makes the right transfers soon.

He's going nowhere whether we finish 3rd or 7th. No chance he's resigning and he certainly isn't getting sacked.

Probably not, but the club have to make sure we get the right players in. The summer was a disaster for him. If Woodward cocks up again, he should go for a start.

I don't really understand? You seem to be coming at management from the point of view it's just pressing some buttons, picking a good team and then watching a simulation. Playing bad football is entirely the managers fault. Whether it's a failure to implement a more creative style, or shake the team out of their comfort zone (i.e. the way we played last season), that's what managers do. He's the manager. He dictates how we play and has to manage the players to ensure they're playing well. If none of that's happening, then that's because the manager is failing. Picking a good team and making decent subs is only a tiny part of it. Otherwise he wouldn't have to do anything for 6 days of the week.

Agreed, but you have to wonder whether some of those lads want to play for Moyes and whether there's resentment against him and his management team.

That's different Irwin. When that did happen they were all around the box. Not stuck on the half way line. Rooneys our best player this season, seeing him on the half way line has fecked me right off. It's just shambolic. At one point we had Valencia, Rooney and Kagawa as our back 3. I mean wtf.

Think the bigger picture is our coaching setup under Moyes. We have went from Phelan, Meulenstein and Steele to Round, Neville and Woods.

As much as Neville or Giggs may have experience at the club and on the pitch. They don't have the experience that the previous brought to the table in terms of coaching.

Just look what we are like on the ball lately. Without possession we are chaotic. With it, we hoof and chase or pass to the wings. Nothing comes through the middle anymore.

I wouldn't necessarily point the finger at the manager, he picks the team. I would point the finger at the coaches experience and how they instruct us to play. I would be more happy with a signing or 2 in the backroom staff if the opportunity arose.

Does anybody on here genuinely believe that Moyes is now the best man for the job?

I can understand peoples need to back Moyes because Fergie has told us to do so(and without Fergie we would probably have had nothing but the same old cycle of the 70s/80s) but I doubt if their is anybody here who thinks that Moyes will lead us to glory or even top 4.

I've seen so many people say this, and it just isn't true. We weren't fluent last season, but we actually looked threatening and had some purpose to our play. It wasn't one big fluke!

Refs this year are giving us nothing either. In pretty much all the defaeats at home we had at least one big decision go against us. Webb was terrible today, just fecking terrible as he always is against us for hte past couple of seasons.

Fergie should come back until the end of the season alongside Moyes really. Losing out of top 4 would be a huge blow and I can't see RvP and Rooney staying if we were to.

Agree with all of that. I'm just surprised Moyes hasn't dismantled this whole get it out wide and cross brainlessly, yet. Come fecking on.

And the last bit is crucial. Moyes needs, and I mean needs badly, to make great signings.

Spurs weren't all that at all today. My stream went down for their second goal, but from what I saw leading up and after that goal, they were crap. We should have turned them over today no problem.

No top player will sign for a club that isn't competing in the CL.

Buying in January may be risky, but its one we have left ourselves no option but to take.

Thats a fair point.

I don't like calling out the team in public, although if he felt we hadn't played well he usually says. He might have had a different attitude in the dressing room with the players, he can't have been happy with that.

Rooney was in midfield because we have no midfielders. It's not that hard to understand surely. Carrick was pulled because he's not fit and played like piss, Clev was pulled late because he was poor and we were throwing caution to the wind.

This is the rubbish you people keep spewing - If you cannot see the difference between our performance last season when we took 3 points from Anfield, Stamford Bridge & the Etihad then you should take a hard look at yourself & sort out your cognitive reasoning.

I do but some signings are needed.

Without slagging Moyes off (I'm still behind him, but never really wanted him), I think my biggest concern is the standard of football we are playing.
When SAF left, I kind of hoped that the incoming manager would see a new, exciting brand of football....something that has been missing for a couple of season. We have gone from grinding results out to grinding nothing at all.
We can all go on about dropping Evra and Valencia but who will come in? Players who are not match fit and not all that good. There lies the snag, for me.
Spend big Moyes and save our season because it's just horrific to watch.
