Moyes So Far!

Eh? After Cryuff Barcelona went into a serious decline, they were always hovering in the top 6 bar one or two seasons, until Rijkaard arrived. After 2006 they slipped for 2 seasons before Guardiola arrived.

No they didn't. This is revisionist history.

When Bobby Robson brought in Ronaldo in the mid 90s they were not in decline, nor when they brought in Figo from Sporting or Rivaldo.

They did not go into serious decline after Cruyff. Cruyff left in the mid 90s. They went into 'serious decline' when Louis Van Gaal's reign ended in farce. A serious decline that didn't actually last all that long because, as you say, they got Rijkaard in quite soon after that and got back to business.

Its not an excuse to say we've lost a big manager so we have a licence to be poor and the incoming manager can make whatever tactical errors he wants. Big clubs are built to last.

It is beginning to look like Moyes wants results over flair, unfortunately we are getting neither. Most of us support United because of the history and style of play.

No, Real Madrid are.

You are making out as though Klopp wouldn't jump at the very chance of joining United. We are a fecking ginormous club compared to Dortmund. So they are better than us at the moment, so what? So are Southampton, do you think their manager wouldn't leave tomorrow to manage us?

Southampton played better than us TODAY, but they aren't better than us. But yeah Pochettino would definitely jump at the chance.

I don't think it was necessarily that, I mean he left Rooney, RVP, Nani and Januzaj for a fair bit of the game and between them they didn't get it done, though you'd probably blame the first 2 for that more and others defensively for making it more uncomfortable that it needed to be. Shoring up the team when you've given them a while to get the second is fair enough, and he still left RVP and Rooney on for most the game. He just got his subs wrong, managing to harm both the defensive and offensive capabilities of the team.

 Your Southampton comparison is one of the most bizarre I've ever come across on here.

He's been given 6 years, we can't give him ONE season to prove he can make it, he has to build his own squad and make his stamp on it. We cannot become a Chelsea or any team that sacks its managers every year.
If he can't secure 4th he's a goner. No matter what his contract length is. We're not Chelsea and we won't be. Chelsea sack managers when they finish 2nd not 5th.

Moyes doesn't have the history to warrant such backing. He hasn't won titles before or was one of the top managers around.

And if someone tries to bring Fergie into this argument has to remember something - he was incredibly successful with Aberdeen beforehand - 3 titles and CWC beating Real.

Southampton didnt fecking play better than us. They were lucky to get a point with a corner goal. We had plenty of huge chances to make it 2-0 and put the game to bed.

The only thing to criticize Moyes for this game was a couple of strange substituts.

Welbeck for Fellaini which made us horrible imbalanced defensively, and taking Rooney off when we didnt have the safety of a 2-0 lead. The latter especially considering RVP was playing worse than him.

According to the table they are better than us. The point is, United are a giant club and nearly every manager in the world would jump at the chance to manage us, regardless of our league position or what his current job is.

To quote you, 'so what?'.

Kloppo forced his system, took his time to build his team, forced his ideology into BVB and now everything he's going the way he wants it to go. Why would he leave something he's been building for quite few years now? Just because we are United? We can only guess here but I don't think so he would, not everybody's obsessed with being our manager or being a manager in England in general. He can achieve as much in Europe with his side right now and he's got tough team to fight in Bundesliga as well.

Always makes me laugh when people jump with random managers 'that should have been here instead of Moyes'.

Neither has Pellegrini.

I always laugh when people bring out the "We're Man Utd-fecking Nited, we're massive, we're above all of you, every player/manager in the world would jump at the chance to play here", despite the fact that, in the last few years, that hasn't been the case, at all.

We can't afford to do that with a club/business whatever you want to call it, as big as we are. You just can't afford to take a risk in giving Moyes so much time, especially when there's very little pointing to him being a success.

Keep convincing yourself that Klopp wouldn't love to manage us. There's a good lad.

I don't know if he would/wouldn't, maybe he would, but there's just as many reasons that he wouldn't either. Your logic of "we're a much bigger club than Dortmund therefore he obviously would" is fecking dumb, given the last few years of both clubs.

It's a hangover from the old days when we didn't bat an eyelid about breaking transfer records. Now we're a bit bargain basement, except for the odd punt on Van Persie and, ahem, Fellaini.

Neither has Pellegrini.

Pellegrini can say he managed a big club. Only lost the title with 90 plus points to the greatest team in history maybe. Was penalty kick away from reaching champions league final. Or very unlucky against Dortmund last season in Europe.

Pellegrini atleast has some pedigree behind him. He might not have won anything. But he's managed a top club and done well in Europe.

With a MUCH better team athan Moyes. He's been rather lucky in his career.

Yes. But have it your way, I'm sure he can keep achieving with his side that are a feeder club to their only league rivals.

Of course Klopp would love to manage us, h'd at least double his salary while managing a top club, he's not a saint.

Too early for that kind of discussion though.

I get where you're coming from to an extent in that even now, Dortmund's best players mostly move on to bigger clubs, but with the job that Klopp is doing, he's slowly establishing them as a European super power. If he leaves, he's going to want to go upwards. We may be a massive club, but Dortmund are very big as well and right now, I'm not so sure that he would simply abandon his very successful project to take on a club that haven't been more successful than them in the past few years. We're not simply the biggest club in the world who everyone wants to go to and it's arrogant to think we are.
