I thought Smith was pretty good myself. He never stopped running and wasn't afraid to have a pop. Just the kind of grit and determination we need in midfield. Sack Moyes, sign Smith.

I'll always remember his goal against Roma in the CL quarter back in '07. He opened the scoring I think, what a night.

Such lovely build up play for that goal. I might try and dig it out on youtube later on tonight.

Never mind the open letter from the Greek United fan. An open letter to Moyes from an Everton fan has come to light and it is extremely worrying. Leopards don't change their pots it seems.

Sorry I can't copy and this link might not work but the Evertonian was complaining about Moyes turning strikers like Beattie, Johnson and Yakubu from top class strikers into ordinary players by asking them to play wide chasing hopeful long punts from the back. He went on to complain about strikers being near the corner flag instead of the penalty area and concluded 'it appears you have decided the Moyes way is the way Everton are going to play even though it's clearly not working, over half the season gone and not a single performance to get excited about'
Just one tiny problem with that: none of those players were remotely close to being top class.

It's true - yesterday I met a leopard and he still had the same pot as last year.

Then Smith probably wasn't cack and you're talking shit?

No, Smith could have been running around like a headless chicken and had 8 wild shots from distance. Yours is the type of mindset that automatically gives someone 'man of the match' regardless of how they played if a goal has managed to deflect of their arse. You see how someone plays by watching them, you don't make a decision made on what the stats tell you.

It's possible, although it doesn't happen very much, for someone to play poorly and score a hat-trick. I hate now how people's assessment through watching the game is nullified by wee little stat checkers. As if you can't form an opinion through watching the game that isn't bettered by someone picking up the sunday paper and looking at the printed Opta figures.

No, mine is the type of mindset that thinks stats and videos can be quite interesting because people don't always watch what everyone's doing at any given time and can also be massively biased.

I certainly don't think stats and shit are the be all and end all, but in general people only tend to really hate them when they go against their opinion.

Oh, you were talking about a real Smith. :nervous:

Any other job in the world and he'd have been sacked. Even Toronto FC have higher standards than this garbage and they are one of the worst teams in the world.

If it's true that he is interested in Lennon, he should be sacked for that alone.
I'm going to go ahead and guess it's not though.

Fellaini - Trusted lieutenant at Everton
Mata - World Class player (probably)
Lennon - ...

I think not.

Moyes probably has a raging hard-on just thinking about Lennon. He gets to the byline and crosses. Crap crosses, but who cares about that.

What's his trackbackability like though. That's what wingers are used for here.

Nobody told me there'd be days like these...
*cries*

I don't recall those Lennon lyrics, tbh.

As a matter of interest, a hypothetical question. If Fergie said tomorrow that it hadn't worked out as he hoped (which so far, it obviously hasn't) how many people who are behind DM would change their minds?

Who remembers the sudden about turn on Veron? One minute he was above criticism, then when Fergie shipped him out, he became the player who never lived up to the hype and his potential, and prior to which there had been so much vitriol aimed at those who dared doubt him.

The sheer incompetence of the Glazer's is utterly astounding. I hope they know more about money than do they about football.

Come now. They are advised by some of the most experienced men in world football. They are right to listen to them. I am sure if Ferguson and Charlton told them to pull the trigger they would.

I've watched Eriksen alot this season so my question is,

What is Moyes doing in that bunker of his? Why weren't we, at the very least, in for this guy??

You could apply that to most teams in fairness. Why didn't we sign Eriksen? Why did Chelsea sell Sturridge? Why didn't we loan in Lukaku? Why didn't we go for McCarthy? You get the point...

Is that a Quarrymen B-Side or something...?

Who?

A Liverpool fan wants our shite manager to stay with us. This is like us wanting Hodgson to stay at pool.

So lets say Moyes does go, who makes the decision on the next Manager? Seeing as Fergie has fecked it up once already.

Do we have many more influential football men around board level who could make a better decision?

@CheshireDave from the newbs seems to disagree with your post by the way. Sent me this PM:

If I didn't take your word on the 'facts' you informed me of, I wouldn't disagree with him myself too much. Actually, you have recently signed Downing, Suarez, Carroll and Henderson for north of £15m, although to be fair, there was no competition for them as such.

Sniper is spot on with what he's saying. We were turned down by both Mkhitaryan and Costa even when we offered them more money.

Definitely not Ferguson. He has an awful taste in managers. Sven, MoN and Moyes.

Have you guys seen Kagawa's comments after the match? Just depressing...........

“The manager told me to get on the ball as much as I could and create opportunities,”

What did he say?

Someone posted it in the Kagawa thread.

"I thought we needed to build some rhythm. We have a lot of goal scoring finishers, but we hadn't been able to build up to a goal scoring opportunity. So I went in thinking I'd like to win back our rhythm, but it was harder than I imagined. The manager just told me to go out and get on the ball. And I was confident I could create opportunities if I could just get on the ball, but the ball wouldn't come my way, as we resorted to many long balls. There were so many more situations where I was available to receive the ball, but... Well, it's done and over, so what can I say.

I thought I might get an outing today. It's vexing that I couldn't contribute results, but I have to carry on day by day. My given situation isn't going to dramatically change, so I'll just keep plugging away. Whatever the situation, you've got to keep on trudging. I'm not taking it negatively. I get more freedom in the CL anyway(as opposed to league), and my abilities are more useful (in the CL). We still have the return leg. I've got a good 'image' in my mind of what we need to do to win the return leg, and we definitely have a shot at turning this around at home, so I'll prepare for that."

Lots I imagine. It seems some fans feel a massive obligation to follow Fergie's final commandment : "your job now...." etc. I can only imagine that's what is spurring on the blind faith.
For them turning on Moyes would almost be blasphemous.

A committee? Although as you say the standing of Woodward and SAF would be diminished somewaht by association.

It might not hurt to have Giggs involved in some fashion, his firsthand knowledge of two separate regimes could bring with it some valuable insights and the lessons to be learned. Though a player coach and on the staff the overriding allegiance is to the club rather than Moyes.
