My next question: After Moyes is gone where we can find a good manager?

Fergie has built the empire for over 2 decades, it only took Moyes couple of months to destroy it.

Fergie would talk Moyes of the ledge unfortunately, for the reputation of all dour Scotsmen everywhere at least.

Imagine though, Moyes leaves and Fergie comes in until the end of the season! Rooney's face would be like

Say hello to the right wing again Wayne!!

I would prefer quieroz to be honest. Quite a few of our players know him and his work when he was here so there would be a good level of respect. He knows the club and it's workings well as well. Giggs and Phil Neville can be his assistants.

Honestly, as much as he's been crap at Fulham, if we were to have a caretaker to the end of the season wouldn't Rene be the obvious choice?

I don't know. Rene just seems too full of himself, and our football with him around wasn't exactly all that pleasant on the eye as well. Fergie was full of praise for quieroz in his book, same with lots of players. So if we were to go with an interim manager who's been at the club before I know I would take quieroz.

Is it enough for the club to be just briefing a few members of the press [if that is what is happening], does this rumour warrant something a bit more official as a response?

In a weird kind of way it's like i'm watching this from the outside. Last season, competing for the league, every dropped point was like a knife to the bollock. Now, with nothing to play for a weird apathy has set in. Not for a minute does that mean i support the club any less, but today for example a mate approached me at work and said with a glint: "So, how did United get on last night?"

Last season i'd have told the Liverpool supporting anus tickler to suck on a chode and see who's lifting the trophy come May. This morning i just shrugged.
"We're shite.." I sighed, before changing the subject.

Someone should make a list of 40 managers we could get who are better than Moyes, like the list of midfielders in the Cleverley thread.

It's times like these I'm reminded of the immortal words of Good Charlotte...

We don't like Moyes we like goals and winning
Moyes will laugh at us with all his crossing...

I'd probably put Benitez in the top 5 to be honest, The man is a massive douche but he would do a decent job and send the scousers into meltdown

Doubt last night matters all that much, to be honest. It was a terrible match, granted, but I doubt the board are on the edges of their chairs, assessing the situation from one match to the next at this stage. They've probably decided to let him have the next window to get in his preferred reinforcements - that's what I think, at least. I'd be very surprised if he's not our manager at the end of the season.

It would have to take something beyond crap results and crap football. If he completely loses the players and all hell breaks lose in that respect, then maybe.

In the UK at least, a listed company is not obliged to respond to false rumours. I think it's similar in the US. But, if you are responding to such rumours, it should not be via selective briefing but through a general press release.

Anyway, one for the club's lawyers. More importantly, when do they bow to the inevitable and sack him?

lol at basically everyone in this thread. We lose away in europe and suddenly moyes is worse than trapatonni and laudrup
That's probably due to getting around 1 point per game less then we did last season, dropping from top to 7th, and deservedly so, along with getting comfortably beat by olympiacos, has a lot to do with it. He's a good lower club or mid table manager, but he's an awful manager for a top team. It's a completely different breed of managers and the first requirement is to be positive thinking and attack minded, which he is not.

I know, if only we could all learn to put last night's result in the context of the highly successful and satisfactory season that this has been so far.

The key word was 'that we could get'. 70% of your list are unrealistic targets.
To be fair, we don't need a list of 40 managers, or even 5 or 10 on who we could get. All we need is a top 3 and surely one of them would want to come.

just pointing out that people genuinely thinking moyes is a worse manager than some names on that list prove that their opinions on anything football related are completely worthless due to their low iq

fair enough. ill trust SAF over you though, esp if you are someone that wants the club to sack him and bring in trappatoni
