Don't caretaker coaches usually work with whoever is there already?

Never heard of someone being appointed "assistant caretaker manager"!
Yes, but it'd still be a bit weird wouldn't it? Working with people who have followed Moyes around for years, depends on their loyalty I suppose.

Normally yes, but I can't see Round sticking around (no pun intended)... Phil Neville would stay though, and I could see a situation where Phelan and Rene are brought back on 6 month contracts or something.

Not that I know a damn thing about how these things actually work in practice mind!

That's just Steve Round, though. Giggs will have a relationship with Neville independent of Moyes. It wouldn't be a big deal.
Maybe, I don't really care anyway, better to get rid now. If we keep him on til the summer I'd be afraid that the board would give him another shot and 100m to spend.

Strangely, the official Club FB site has not posted anything this morning. Possibly because of all the abuse last night or is something afoot?

Even at this awful stage there is still time for the board to get rid and get us playing positive football in the remaining few months of the year. Another 2 months of this and it's probably goodbye RvP, Kagawa, Hernandez and Nani and contract extensions for Young, Valencia and Cleverley. First signs of life for us in months against Palace and then he wrecks it all with that team selection against Olympiakos. Clueless.

I might go to the gym.

Ferguson retired when I was in the gym, maybe i can get a streak going.

The funny thing is, I don't think he's spent particularly badly. Put it this way, what is the better long term investment for the club? The 60 odd million spent by Moyes or the previous 60 million spent by Fergie?

EDIT: this post is probably going to get torn apart. Still think that the players we've signed/been linked with under Moyes are a step up from all the money spent on potential under Fergie.

He hasn't spent badly, the problem is what he hasn't spent, i.e. the disaster of last summer.

Fellaini was never a £27m player though and that was a direct consequence of constant f*ck ups throughout the window.

Also, seemingly most of the players he's targeting for this summer likely won't come here if he's still our manager, I mean, why would they?

Anyone who spends £27.5m on Fellaini can't be said to have bought wisely.

And as if they're reading your post.....

Off the top of my head, that would be Mata & Fellaini vs. RVP, Zaha, Kagawa, Buttner, and a chunk of De Gea?

If it was all of De Gea, you'd have to say Fergie

Too early to judge. We overspent but he might yet turn out a decent addition (I'm aware your mind is made up about him already). At the very least he plays in a position where we obviously needed strengthening. Can't say the same about Fergie's last big money signing.

Bookies seem to be cutting the odds of Moyes being sacked at a constant rate.

Even without De Gea is still Fergie. Kagawa and RVP > Mata and Fellaini. Zaha also looks promising and was one for the future. And then one hand of De Gea neutralizes the negative points of Buttner.

Marginal though. Could well turn out that De Gea is the only good long term investment out of all that lot. Conversely, both Mata and Fellaini might turn out to strengthen our squad significantly over the next 4-5 years (or longer)

No quotes

Daniel Taylor (Guardian's Chief Football writer) has been Man United's mouthpiece all season for some reason. When they want to leak news, its been through him all season.

edit: No guarantee of course

Thats Jamie Jackson, in fairness.

Strange article. Seems to speak authoritatively that his job is secure without any quotes. Another thing to consider is the club will likely continue to publicly support him until the day he's sacked. Its happened with other managers.

Was he not banned from Old Trafford?

Not sure that's true. Taylor has been calling for Moyes' head right now.

Why are we defying all conventional wisdom and backing the man ? I just don't get it.
