Let's not forget the 'Ooh, we topped our CL group, Moyes has got this European football thing sussed!'.

That was one of the cringeworthy statements. Especially if you tried to counter that by saying it was just two impressive games really you would then get the follow up "Ah but you can't just ignore those matches can you". Some people seriously take a while to work things out.

You don't have to wait for Iniesta to come onto the market to realise that Cleverley is probably a bit pants and that a significant upgrade on him probably isn't too difficult to obtain nor be that expensive either.
i agree with your point but its unfair to single Cleverley out everytime. He wasnt our worst performer last night by any means. Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic couldnt pass water. Carrick wasnt far behind them. Disgraceful that they cannot get the basics right. Yet everywhere i read Cleverley's name. I even read some fan saying United should pay Cleverley to go away.

Yeah having a captain on his way out can't exactly be doing wonders for team spirit and unity in the dressing room. But I imagine folks like Giggs and Evra are the more vocal and the leaders in the dressing room.

Last night really was a new low for me, he really did look like he absolutely had no clue what he was doing here, and it showed by the performance out there. it's like he's the only person in the world who can't see the obvious things, like the fact that he finally played the team that just about everyone wanted to at the weekend, and hey presto, we win and actually look decent, so naturally what he does for Tuesday, instead of just making one or two adjustments with similar players (i.e. Kagawa), is put players in that everyone knows aren't good enough, play a formation that everyone knows will fail, and end up with a result and performance that everyone else could see from a mile away.

The selection wasn't even the worst thing for me though, it was the subs, and his logic in making them. We're losing, let's just bring on every striker we have, I mean, it worked for the best manager ever, I'm sure it'll work for me too, I'll just throw Welbeck in midfield ahead of an actual competent midfielder I paid £27m for, and Hernandez on the wing, yeah, perfect.

I've been utterly adament he needs til Xmas next year before being sacked but ... last night was just so bad, it was the first time I truly thought we were utterly bumf*cked if we keep him.

Considering that Vidic is going to leave and Evra has somewhat a history of not really backing managers he thinks of being inept I doubt there will be much of backup for Moyes from this area of the team.
With France. A side that is perpetually fractured. With us he's been nothing but loyal. Harsh to suggest that might change.

He's this seasons scapegoat and it's quite pathetic from some of our fans actually. No matter how others perform Cleverley bears the brunt if the criticism as long as he starts.

Why? This side is fractured as it is.

May as well say "under Ferguson he's been nothing but loyal."

I had that realisation after the Fulham game. That was my turning point.

Moyes needs the backing of a strong captain in the dressing room.

Not coming from from any of Van Persie, Evra, Ferdinand or Vidic, that's for sure. Even Carrick seemed to be biting his tongue yesterday.

It's Rooney and the not-that-young-anymore-kids from here on. And journeymen like Young, Valencia and Buttner.

Is it? Have there been team meetings aimed at getting rid of the manager? Players refusing to work with members of staff? Etc. etc.?

I know you're giddy and all, being a dipper on a United forum at a low period for us, but don't get carried away. It might be bad, but it's not that sort of bad.

I know odds aren't anything to go on but SkyBet have made him favourite for the next manager to be sacked.

This, word for word. Last night it dawned on me that giving him till next Christmas is just writing next season off as well. Why should he be given a second season to prove himself when he wont learn from his mistakes this season? He needs to show an iota of improvement to earn that.

I actually typed out that he showed no signs of learning from his mistakes, but then I deleted it. I actually think he can see the mistake, but he has that SAF bloody mindedness that makes him incapable of accepting it. I reckon it was that characteristic that SAF admired in him, it is very reminiscent of him. But there is a crucial difference, SAF had the ability or the sheer force of will to bend reality to his will, so even when he was wrong he ended up being vindicated in his stubbornness. Or that is how it sometimes seemed. Moyes doesnt have that, he is simply a man who will punch himself in the face repeatedly until his own skull caves in, simply because he refuses to acknowledge he is achieving nothing by doing it.

Moyes on Evra a couple of months ago:
'Patrice is one of the finest leaders around the dressing room that I have ever seen,' said Moyes.

'He speaks well in everything he does and the way he speaks about the club is great.

'He is inspirational behind the scenes and reminds all the boys what their jobs and duties are.

'He knows we have to have a strong Manchester United. He demands. He doesn't think winning one game is it. He is saying no, we need to win all the games.

'He is great for me and obviously he has been great for the team because he has been a really top player for a long time now.'

There's no evidence to suggest Evra is anything but supportive and carrying out his role as a leader.

Just got a text that betting is suspended in a few bookmakers about Moyes getting sacked.

What is going on in training? Are the coaches just having a bonding and a laugh with the players before walking off the training pitch telling each other, it will get better ???

Clearly they aren't getting trained enough, because on the pitch they are missing 10%-15% needed to execute wins.

The defence is a shambles, the midfield is mis-jointed and the attack is utterly blunt.

The manager has no idea how to influence the game, he has no ideas! Could you see a Mourinho, Pep or Klopp team play like this again and again? With this squad of players?

1 shot on target last night. Manchester fecking United with 1 shot on target. Even that was a cross.

We can't rely on Rafael, and we cant play centre backs in that position. We need a world class right back.

We need a deep lying creative midfielder.

We need a left back.

We need a replacement Centre back.

If we are going to play with wingers, we need two new wingers.

I can't defend the indefensible. I've tried to back Moyes aslong as possible but yesterday... was something else. That was probably the worst performance I've ever seen from a United side. Pathetic from Moyes and the players.
Moyes has done an absolutely terrible job. I have no basis for saying he's going to turn it around. There's nothing I can do to support that view. He's clearly works hard but he just seems out of depth.

If he was sacked today I wouldn't mind even. I was adamant against it previously but I would actually be slightly happy if he did. Yesterday was a new low. Astonishing.

If you want winner manager that can do wonders with little or at least smaller investments, then Klopp is the guy to go. But really, I would take anyone who can set up a team, and play with the insane amount of talent we have in our attack.

El Confidencial on Manchester United "With David Moyes on the bench they're a grey team, predictable and without ideas."

Nailed it.
