Moutinho

Can someone five a breakdown of these players they have or are supposedly signing? That is who they are, are they any good? Etc

Dembele - Very good since being moved in to midfield last year. Could be a beast for them if he keeps on playing like he has been.
Sigurdsson - Good all rounder from what I saw of him in the last year. I think he will have a big season for them.
Remy - Im not sure cant really comment on him
Willian - Seems very talented with what little I have seen
Moutinho - Very talented young CM. Good signing IF they get him
Vertonghen - Very talented young CB. Good signing

Moutinho will be 26 this year. Not sure he's a "young CM" anymore.

Also I can't help typing Mourinho instead of Moutinho. You can imagine how stupid that sentence looked at first.

Damn it will hurt to lose him, let alone to Spurs. My favourite player by a mile. But we'll be probably better off than letting Hulk go.

Better than Modric, you think?

Also can he deal with the two man midfield Spurs like to play?

Not sure if he's better than Modric, I don't watch enough of Spurs. I do think he'd fit well in a two man midfield, he's good at every midfield task, a very balanced player. I always thought he'd be an ideal player for United, and that's where I'd like to see him play, if he really has to leave.

I'd classify him as an experienced footballer, considering he's playing first-team football since he's about 18.

where did anyone saying he wasnt experienced

Nowhere, was just adding that as opposed to the view of a "young CM". He's not really that young and I think his progress margin is relatively low, though at his best I think he can play in any team bar Barcelona.

Don't you think he's a bit basic for the money you'll get for him? He's very good at keeping the ball, but he's no genius like Modric. He hasn't got the pace, creativity or dribbling skills of Modric. In this country he seems to have got a reputation for being a creative midfielder, but when I've watched him carefully, he seems to be more about keeping things ticking over. £20 million + seems like a lot of money for this kind of player.

I agree with your assessment of his skills. He does unlock some games at times, but he's not the type of creating chances every game.

That said, he fits like a glove in our midfield. He came to replace Meireles and is a far superior player in my opinion. His greatest asset aren't his individual skills but his reliability and astonishing work rate. His worst games still make him look as a better than average player IMO. It's not uncommon to see him running to recover balls and launch counters after 90 minutes of game. He doesn't get tired.

In regards to the creative spark, we have Lucho to fill that role. So perhaps Moutinho isn't worth that much to Tottenham, but he definitely is to us, he's not an easily replaceable player. On par with Hulk, definitely the reason we managed to win the league last season despite our awful manager and losing Falcao.

They have Siggurdsson or Van Der Vaart to create in much the same way Arruda, so that burden won't be on him. Think he will fit in great.

If Spurs want a player like that, then they'd be better off going for M'Vila, who will be much cheaper, but has very similar skills. At the end of a game M'Vila will have passed the ball more than anyone, got a very high pass percentage and run himself into the ground. He's not creative genius, but does play the odd quality pass. Him and Moutinho seem like very similar players, only one is much cheaper.

Record says that Sky Sports announced João Moutinho at Tottenham for £22m.

Kind of disappointed if true, but I guess it was expected considering we didn't make any big sale this summer and were pressured to cash in.

Think he would have been great here.

At Spurts he'll do grand for a season and leave for a bigger club.

Yep, would have been happy had he come here as well. But Spurs should have a shot at 4th place now, should make watching Arsenal squirm more entertaining.

Sky Sources: Tottenham's move for Joao Moutinho hits problems over personal terms

I am sure if the fee is agreed, personal terms will be sorted out.

And seeing its just few hours left, one party will bow down.

I think Skysports make up hitches, in order to create a soap opera like story line to keep people entertained on deadline day. Moutinho has been pushing for this move for a while, he'd have known what Spurs would offer. They are also saying Lloris is 50/50 as he's unsure, but it's such bullshit as this transfer has been well known about for weeks. As if Lloris would fly to London on deadline day if he was "unsure" having been pushing for the move. Skysports just like to create drama as it adds entertainment.

Agreed, its all a load of B.S.

No player would surely ever go that far as to fly to a country without knowing you are going to sign.

This is a bit of addition.

Big problems with Moutinho's move to Spurs. Seems he is unhappy with proposed terms and lack of #UCL football. Deal may be off.

He's only just realised Spurs aren't in CL? Good one. Unsure of his wages but I bet if there is a problem it's a case of how much he could get elsewhere as opposed to how much he's already on.

I would seriously love if we came in last minute .

Not a perfect answer to our midfield problem by any means; but a very tidy player and under Fergies guidance I reckon he could become a very big player.

Has he even left Portugal? Surely if Porto had accepted a bid, he'd have been on a plane to the UK and doing a medical. His agent would then thrash out personal terms. I think the personal terms issue has to be bullshit. It's been known for a long time that he wants to move to Spurs and Spurs want him. If this doesn't happen it's because a deal was never in place.

So the genius Levy again fails to sort out the deal for AVB's first choice target. They've a large Madrid shaped hole in their first team right now.

I'm surprised they didn't get it across the line, it they haven't, that is. If the fee was agreed I thought both he and Spurs would have wanted the deal enough. I don't see him getting a bigger move before next summer.

I think Dembele and Sidgurdsson will do more than enough to cover that hole.

Why am I hearing rumours that Tottenham was allowed an extention to the deadline window? What kind of tranvestite decision is this? I want to go to sleep knowing Moutinho is still ours.
