Thing i'm most impressed with about him is he plays with good spirit. We always knew he was skillful but i think the desire he shows on the pitch would work well with people like Carrick etc
Very arguable. We all know how much Fergie loves his traditional wingers. I think as long as Antonio can stay fit, he will be one of the first names on the team sheet.
Why aren't we interested in Yaya Toure?
I think it's more that the rest of the team is THAT good, and Moutinho will just fill an important hole in the squad.
So a guy that we could have got 12 months ago for £10 million, we're now gonna spend £20 million + on?
Fantastic.
You're a dull boy Jimmy
Woosh...
How do we know he was ready to move and how do we know our interest was genuine 20+ months ago? Also, this apparent bid has surfaced after a Euro Tournament - bond to inflate transfer fees.
Did we need Moutinho 2 years ago? Scholes and Carrick in their primes, Giggs still effective in his new central position, Fletcher's innards still working, Anderson still young and with untapped potential. It wasn't as obviously a problem position as it is now.

He's on his way
Scholes was 35 2 years ago

And? Scholes' prime has lasted about 10 years
Sometimes you under pay, sometimes you over pay. It don't matter if he proves to be a good player for the club. I've not seen much of him, who knows how serious we are about him - but he's at a good age and playing for a national team that pass the ball well. He's not the biggest and it will be interesting to see how we reshape the team.
I predict us going 4-3-3 against better teams and our classic 4-4-2 against the sides that we can afford to go toe to toe with. If we signed Moutinho you would have him, Scholes and Carrick who can play the two holding midfielders to a tee a 4-3-3 formation, I also think that Moutinho would be suited to a two midfield as he is mobile and good at both the defending and attacking aspects of playing in midfield.
Up top you have Rooney, Kagawa, Welbeck and Nani who are especially suited to playing in a fluid attacking front three. Young, Valencia, and Hernandez are more linear types of players that would be more comfortable in a 4-4-2 formation.
Of course all players are interchangable between the formations with Valencia inparticular able to be effective in a more rigid front three.
He's on his way
Eh? Fergie loves his traditonary wingers so much he played Beckham on the right hand side for around 10 years, has played Park wide on the left countless times and allowed Ronaldo to float inside and force Rooney wide.
Anyway you look at it Valencia is not even close to being considered our best player
Why do I have this awful feeling we're interested in him because of the Euros? Nothing good comes out of such impulse deals.

Alex Ferguson's Manchester United assistant, Carlos Queiroz, has pointed out that Sporting Lisbon's Miguel Veloso, as well as Porto's Quaresma, is just one of many players on the Old Trafford shortlist...
Queiroz: We Want Quaresma And Veloso, But...
Miguel Veloso, seen here sparring with Luis Figo, is said to be a Manchester United target.
Red Devils Assistant manager Carlos Queiroz all but confirmed this to Setanta Sports today, but also dismissed it in the same breath.
The former Real Madrid boss pointed out that Alex Ferguson, the Old Trafford coach, had his eye on more than one Portuguese ace. In fact, it was more than a couple.
"Miguel Veloso, Joao Moutinho, Quaresma, Bruno Alves and Bosingwa have all been looked at already," blared the 54 year old.
"Do we like them all of them? Yes, of course. However, we cannot work with 200 players!"
So, while Queiroz was quick to quash one piece of transfer speculation, he may have added four others to the mix.
Joao Moutinho acts as Veloso's teammate at Sporting, while the remaining three play for Porto.
There is little surprise about United's interest in any of these players, not least Quaresma, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to a more presitgious league.
Paim
Hargreaves?
Plus i'm sure we've been well aware of him for some time. Whats wrong with analysing him after a good tournament though?
Well, there wasn't any noise around him prior the Euros, Porto didn't pay too much for him couple of years ago..you'd think he's not all that.
Suddenly after a couple of good games he's great again. Smells like knee-jerking to me.
Well, it can't be based on the fact we've been linked with him a bit recently because that's been happening since 2006...including this rather bizarre 'story':
Came across this just there. Who the hell was Fabio Paim and why did everyone seem to think he was the second coming?!

Yes please. Perfect signing, exactly what we need. Sell Anderson as well and we are laughing.
Is there any supposed young star that the Chief hasn't bigged up?Paim
I don't know if he's THE player, but he's the style we should be looking for. Can't help but wonder why, although he's been around for quite some time, he's still playing in Portugal, but it shouldn't be held against him.
I don't care about the money. If we want to get the midfield right, we have to spend. We had a period in which we could have maybe done it on the cheap, or cheaper. But we didn't get any great finds, the midfielder signings of 2007 who could have been so big for us right now, Hargreaves and Anderson, are not. And by now Scholes retired and came back. The time has passed, we need solutions now.
